Book Synopsis Frontiers in Anti-Infective Agents: Volume 5 by : Parvesh Singh
Download or read book Frontiers in Anti-Infective Agents: Volume 5 written by Parvesh Singh and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2021-09-14 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anti-infective agents are a distinct class of pharmacologically important molecules that has served mankind in different capacities to combat life-threating pathologic conditions. They include antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antituberculosis, antimalarial and urinary anti-infective agents. However, evolutionary changes, adaptations and development of pathogenic microorganisms strains the therapeutic efficacy of these drugs thus limiting their clinical utility over the years. Frontiers in Anti-Infective Agents Volume 5 is a collection of notable research efforts, successful anti-infective drug development programmes and a comprehensive overview of the successes and failures of recent clinical trials in this domain. The volume covers interesting topics: 1) the treatment of acute wounds with the vikut® formula, 2) anti-infective treatment of ocular diseases and 3) sars-cov vaccine development and antimicrobial therapy for SARS symptoms. A chapter summarizing recent anti-infective approaches rounds up the contents of this volume. This volume is a timely reference for postgraduate scholars and researchers seeking updates in specific areas of anti-infective drug development. Allied healthcare professionals (clinical and public healthcare professionals) can also benefit from the information presented within.

Book Synopsis The Triumvirate Approach to Systems Engineering, Technology Management and Engineering Management by : Thomas J. Day
Download or read book The Triumvirate Approach to Systems Engineering, Technology Management and Engineering Management written by Thomas J. Day and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-01-31 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text is meant for introductory and midlevel program and project managers, Systems Engineering (SE), Technology Management (TM) and Engineering Management (EM) professionals. This includes support personnel who underpin and resource programs and projects. Anyone who wishes to understand what SE, TM and EM are, how they work together, what their differences are, when they should be used and what benefits should be expected, will find this text an invaluable resource. It will also help students to understand the career paths in innovation and entrepreneurship to choose from. There is considerable confusion today on when and where to use each discipline, and how they should be applied to individual circumstances. This text provides practitioners with the guidelines necessary to know when to use a specific discipline, how to use them and what results to expect. The text clearly shows how the disciplines retain focus of goals and targets, using cost, scope, schedule and risk to their advantage, while complying with and informing investors, oversight and those related personnel who eventually govern corporate or government decisions. It is more of an entry and midlevel general overview instructing the reader how to use the disciplines and when to use them. To use them all properly, more in-depth study is always necessary. However, the reader will know when to start, where to go and what disciplines to employ depending on the product, service, market, infrastructure, system or service under consideration. To date, none of this is available in existing literature. All texts on the subject stretch to try and cover all things, which is simply not possible, even with the definitions assigned by the three disciplines.
Book Synopsis Śaivism and the Tantric Traditions by :
Download or read book Śaivism and the Tantric Traditions written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2020-08-03 with total page 632 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Academic study of the tantric traditions has blossomed in recent decades, in no small measure thanks to the magisterial contributions of Alexis G. J. S. Sanderson, until 2015 Spalding Professor of Eastern Religions and Ethics at Oxford University. This collection of essays honours him and touches several fields of Indology that he has helped to shape (or, in the case of the Śaiva religions, revolutionised): the history, ritual, and philosophies of tantric Buddhism, Śaivism and Vaiṣṇavism; religious art and architecture; and Sanskrit belles lettres. Grateful former students, joined by other experts influenced by his scholarship, here offer papers that make significant contributions to our understanding of the cultural, religious, political, and intellectual histories of premodern South and Southeast Asia. Contributors are: Peter Bisschop, Judit Törzsök, Alex Watson, Isabelle Ratié, Christopher Wallis, Péter-Dániel Szántó, Srilata Raman, Csaba Dezső, Gergely Hidas, Nina Mirnig, John Nemec, Bihani Sarkar, Jürgen Hanneder, Diwakar Acharya, James Mallinson, Csaba Kiss, Jason Birch, Elizabeth Mills, Ryugen Tanemura, Anthony Tribe, and Parul Dave-Mukherji.

This book was released on 2015-05-15 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Antibiotics and antibiotic resistance have most commonly been viewed in the context of human use and effects. However, both have co-existed in nature for millennia. Recently the roles of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance genes have started to be discussed in terms of functions other than bacterial inhibition and protection. This special topic will focus on both the traditional role of antibiotics as warfare mechanisms and their alternative roles and uses within nature such as antibiotics as signals or communication mechanisms, antibiotic selection at low concentrations, the non-specific role of resistance mechanisms in nature: e.g. efflux pumps, evolution of antibiotic resistance and the role of persisters in natural antibiotic resistance.

Book excerpt: This book is the first fascicle in a series that is designed as a reader's Companion to a Sourcebook that presents all written sources with regard to Hunnic Peoples in Central and South Asia from the 4th to the 6th centuries of the Common Era. Both these books are the outcome of an international research project, funded by the European Research Council, which aimed at collecting and exploring the texts regarding the Eastern, non-European Huns in more than a dozen original languages. The first fascicle of the Companion Series focuses on the history of Hunnic People in South Asia, where they are known as Hūṇa in Sanskrit literature or Alkhan according to their own coinage. These Alkhan entered the Subcontinent in the 4th century. The fascicle reconstructs the history of the Alkhan kings, Khiṅgila Toramāṇa, and Mihirakula, and the impact of their invasion and control of large parts of Northern and Western India on Indian history and culture, in particular on the Gupta Empire. This history is shown to be interrelated with historic developments within the Sasanian Empire and historic events to the north of the Hindu Kush. This first fascicle of the Companion and the Sourcebook (D. Balogh, ed.) are published simultaneously by Barkhuis, Groningen. In the coming years other fascicles in this series will appear, exploring the collected sources with a focus on the history of Hunnic Peoples in Central Asia.

This book was released on 2024-03-18 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Smart watches, autonomous vehicles, and talking robots are now an everyday part of life for many regions of the world. The digital revolution has now permeated nearly every facet of our existence. This surge in technological advancement has ushered in what economists term an "innovation economy." In this era, the synergy between technology and business intelligence propels groundbreaking innovations, fostering entrepreneurial ventures across various sectors. These ventures encompass an array of industries, including agriculture, fast-moving consumer goods, hospitality, cultural and indigenous products, to name just a few. While these entrepreneurial endeavors bring forth creativity and contribute to circular economies within communities, not all manage to navigate the challenging environment successfully. This raises a pressing concern how can entrepreneurs harness the power of business intelligence and innovation to achieve sustainability and a competitive edge in today's complex business landscape? Applying Business Intelligence and Innovation to Entrepreneurship brings a definitive solution to academicians, researchers, and students who seek a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic interplay between entrepreneurship, business intelligence, and innovation. By dissecting various types of organizations, from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to technology-based startups like Fintech, digital marketing, and community-driven initiatives, this book paints a vivid picture of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. It delves deep into the symbiotic relationship between local wisdom and innovation, shedding light on how entrepreneurs can seize opportunities presented by disruptive and unpredictable phenomena.
