Book Synopsis Effects of Neutron Irradiation on the Creep-rupture Properties of Type 316 Stainless-steel Tubes by :
Download or read book Effects of Neutron Irradiation on the Creep-rupture Properties of Type 316 Stainless-steel Tubes written by and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effects of irradiation in the Dounreay Fast Reactor and the Dounreay Materials Testing Reactor on the creep-rupture properties of Type 316 stainless-steel tubing have been investigated. DFR irradiation produced a loss of rupture ductility but, in general, no change in creep strength in 650 deg C biaxial tests of solution-treated material. Cold-worked tubes suffered a loss of 550 deg C creep strength. Irradiation of solution-treated tubes at 650 deg C in DMTR caused a severe loss of high-temperature ductility and a ten-fold reduction of creep rate both during and after irradiation; it is possible that an irradiation-induced carbide precipitation process is responsible for the increase of creep strength. Download or read book Format and Content of the Safety Analysis Report for Nuclear Power Plants written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by IAEA. This book was released on 2004 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Safety Guide is intended primarily for use with land based stationary thermal nuclear power plants but it may, in parts, have a wider applicability to other nuclear facilities. It provides recommendations and guidance on the possible format and content of a SAR in support of a request to the State regulatory body for authorization to construct and or operate a nuclear power plant. As such, it contains recommendations on meeting the requirements of Safety guide GS-R-1 "Legal and governmental infrastructure for nuclear, radioactive waste and transport safety" (2000, ISBN 9201008007)
Book Synopsis Application of Compact Heat Exchangers For Combined Cycle Driven Efficiency In Next Generation Nuclear Power Plants by : Bahman Zohuri
Download or read book Application of Compact Heat Exchangers For Combined Cycle Driven Efficiency In Next Generation Nuclear Power Plants written by Bahman Zohuri and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-11-19 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Covers the fundamentals of combined-cycle plants to provide background for understanding the progressive design approaches at the heart of the text Discusses the types of compact heat exchanger surfaces, suggesting novel designs that can be considered for optimal cost effectiveness and maximum energy production Undertakes the thermal analysis of these compact heat exchangers throughout the life cycle, from the design perspective through operational and safety assurance stages This book describes the quest to create novel designs for compact heat exchangers in support of emergent combined cycle nuclear plants. The text opens with a concise explanation of the fundamentals of combined cycles, describing their efficiency impacts on electrical power generation systems. It then covers the implementation of these principles in nuclear reactor power systems, focusing on the role of compact heat exchangers in the combined cycle loop and applying them to the challenges facing actual nuclear power systems. The various types of compact heat exchanger surfaces and designs are given thorough consideration before the author turns his attention to discussing current and projected reactor systems, and how the novel design of these compact heat e xchangers can be applied to innovative designs, operation and safety analyses to optimize thermal efficiency. The book is written at an undergraduate level, but will be useful to practicing engineers and scientists as well.
