Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effects of dark adaptation of light leaking around the edges of a spectacle frame worn under ambient light levels of 0.4 and 15 foot-Lamberts for 0.5 to 5 minutes were measured. Younger observers were virtually unaffected by light leaks in ambient illumination of 0.4 fL. However, after 5 minutes in ambient illumination of 15 fL, they required about 45 seconds to recover complete dark adaptation, and observers over the age of 40 required nearly three minutes. Originator-supplied keywords include: Night vision and Effect of peripheral vision on dark adaptation.

Download or read book A Case-Based Guide to Eye Pain written by Michael S. Lee and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-15 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diagnosing a patient with unexplained ocular pain can be time-consuming and difficult, but taking an anatomic approach and excluding causes along the way can aid in the diagnosis. This book provides the reader with a systematic evaluation plan for these cases, written and edited by leaders in the field. A Case-Based Guide to Eye Pain is written for both ophthalmologists and neuro-ophthalmologists since there are not enough neuro-ophthalmologists to treat the number of patients with unexplained ocular pain and general ophthalmologists are having to take on the diagnosis and treatment of these patients. Organized in an easy-to-use manner, each case covers the following key elements: the chief complaint, history of the present illness, the examination, assessment and plan, follow-up, alternate perspective, summary points, and key references. Tables are also available to help the reader rapidly sort through cases that may apply to a sign, symptom, historical feature, diagnostic test or treatment option. This allows the practitioner who has a patient with a particular concern to use the tables to identify a case discussion. Additionally, A Case-based Guide to Eye Pain includes an appendices with the general approach to eye pain and anatomy of the trigeminal pathway and its relation to eye pain.

Book Synopsis The Effects of Constant Light on Visual Processes by : Theodore P. Williams
Download or read book The Effects of Constant Light on Visual Processes written by Theodore P. Williams and published by Springer. This book was released on 1980-02 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: " ... And the evening and the morning were the third day ... And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night ... And the evening and the morning were the fourth day." The First Book of Moses, called Genesis (1: 13,16,19). There was daytime and nighttime before there was a sun or a moon. An interesting thought: How long were each of those first three days? Without a sun to reckon its length, a day could have been longer or shorter than 24 hours. Animals, says Genesis, appeared on the fifth day and by that time the sun and moon were illuminating the earth, presumably in cyclic fashion and with a period of 24 hours. A good thing, too, as readers of this monograph will as certain. The papers collected into this volume are written versions of 45 minute talks given at a symposium on "The Effects of Constant Light on Visual Processes", held at The Florida State University in Tallahassee on April 25-27, 1979. The conference was supported by the Psychobiology Program and handled, logistically, by the Center for Professional Development and Public Services. It was recognized that limitations on time and funds made prohibitive the invitation of others who may be doing interesting and related work. But, our earnest hope is that what is compiled here is a good blend of "true" light-damage and "relevant related" work.
