Book Synopsis Measurement Error in Nonlinear Models by : Sandra Nolte
Download or read book Measurement Error in Nonlinear Models written by Sandra Nolte and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2010 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyzes how the choice of a particular disclosure limitation method, namely additive and multiplicative measurement error, affects the quality of the data and limits its usefulness for empirical research. Generally, a disclosure limitation method can be regarded as a data filter that transforms the true data generating process. This book focuses explicitly on the consequences of additive and multiplicative measurement error for the properties of nonlinear econometric estimators. It investigates the extent to which appropriate econometric techniques can yield consistent and unbiased estimates of the true data generating process in the case of disclosure limitation. Sandra Nolte received her PhD in Economics at the University of Konstanz, Germany in 2008 and is a postdoctoral researcher at the Financial Econometric Research Centre at the Warwick Business School, UK since 2009. Her research areas include microeconometrics and financial econometrics.

Download or read book Advances in Econometrics and Modelling written by B. Raj and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During 1985-86, the acquisition editor for the humanities and social sciences division of Kluwer Academic Publishers in the Netherlands visited the University of Horida (where I was also visiting while on sabbatical leave from Wilfrid Laurier University as the McKethan-Matherly Senior Research Fellow) to discuss publishing plans of the faculty. He expressed a keen interest in publishing the proceedings of the conference of the Canadian Econometric Study Group (CESG) that was to be held the following year at WLU. This volume is the end product of his interest, endurance, and persistence. But for his persistence I would have given up on th~ project Most of the papers (though not all) included in this volume are based on presentations at CESG conferences. In some cases scholars were invited to contribute to this volume where their research complimented those presented at these conferences even though they were not conference participants. Since papers selected for presentation at the CESG conferences are generally the finished product of scholarly research and often under submission to refereed journals, it was not possible to publish the conference proceedings in their entirety. Accordingly it was decided, in consultation with the publisher, to invite a select list of authors to submit significant extensions of the papers they presented at the CESG conferences for inclusion in this volume. The editor wishes to express gratitude to all those authors who submitted their papers for evaluation by anonymous referees and for making revisions to conform to our editorial process.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: st We welcome you to the proceedings of the 21 International Conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications held in Bilbao. With information and database s- tems being a central topic of computer science, it was to be expected that the integ- tion of knowledge, information and data is today contributing to the again rapidly increasing attractiveness of this field for researchers and practitioners. Since its foundation in 1990, DEXA has been an annual international conference, located in Europe, which showcases state-of-the-art research activities in these areas. DEXA 2010 continued this tradition and provided a forum for presenting and discu- ing research results in the area of database and intelligent systems and advanced - search topics, applications and practically relevant issues related to these areas. It offered attendees the opportunity to extensively discuss requirements, problems, and solutions in the field in the pleasant atmosphere of the city of Bilbao, which is known for its driving industriousness, its top cultural venues and its rich and inspiring he- tage and lifestyle. The University of Deusto with its great educational and research traditions, and the hospitality which the university and the city are so famous for, set the stage for this year’s DEXA conference. This volume contains the papers selected for presentation at the DEXA conference.

They are typically used for collecting data relating to social, economic, educational and health-related issues and they serve as an important tool for economists, sociologists, and other researchers. Focusing on the design, implementation and analysis of longitudinal surveys, Methodology of Longitudinal Surveys discusses the current state of the art in carrying out these surveys. The book also covers issues that arise in surveys that collect longitudinal data via retrospective methods. Aimed at researchers and practitioners analyzing data from statistical surveys the book will also be suitable as supplementary reading for graduate students of survey statistics. This book: Covers all the main stages in the design, implementation and analysis of longitudinal surveys. Reviews recent developments in the field, including the use of dependent interviewing and mixed mode data collection. Discusses the state of the art in sampling, weighting and non response adjustment. Features worked examples throughout using real data. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Development Research in Practice leads the reader through a complete empirical research project, providing links to continuously updated resources on the DIME Wiki as well as illustrative examples from the Demand for Safe Spaces study. The handbook is intended to train users of development data how to handle data effectively, efficiently, and ethically. “In the DIME Analytics Data Handbook, the DIME team has produced an extraordinary public good: a detailed, comprehensive, yet easy-to-read manual for how to manage a data-oriented research project from beginning to end. It offers everything from big-picture guidance on the determinants of high-quality empirical research, to specific practical guidance on how to implement specific workflows—and includes computer code! I think it will prove durably useful to a broad range of researchers in international development and beyond, and I learned new practices that I plan on adopting in my own research group.†? —Marshall Burke, Associate Professor, Department of Earth System Science, and Deputy Director, Center on Food Security and the Environment, Stanford University “Data are the essential ingredient in any research or evaluation project, yet there has been too little attention to standardized practices to ensure high-quality data collection, handling, documentation, and exchange. Development Research in Practice: The DIME Analytics Data Handbook seeks to fill that gap with practical guidance and tools, grounded in ethics and efficiency, for data management at every stage in a research project. This excellent resource sets a new standard for the field and is an essential reference for all empirical researchers.†? —Ruth E. Levine, PhD, CEO, IDinsight “Development Research in Practice: The DIME Analytics Data Handbook is an important resource and a must-read for all development economists, empirical social scientists, and public policy analysts. Based on decades of pioneering work at the World Bank on data collection, measurement, and analysis, the handbook provides valuable tools to allow research teams to more efficiently and transparently manage their work flows—yielding more credible analytical conclusions as a result.†? —Edward Miguel, Oxfam Professor in Environmental and Resource Economics and Faculty Director of the Center for Effective Global Action, University of California, Berkeley “The DIME Analytics Data Handbook is a must-read for any data-driven researcher looking to create credible research outcomes and policy advice. By meticulously describing detailed steps, from project planning via ethical and responsible code and data practices to the publication of research papers and associated replication packages, the DIME handbook makes the complexities of transparent and credible research easier.†? —Lars Vilhuber, Data Editor, American Economic Association, and Executive Director, Labor Dynamics Institute, Cornell University
