Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through the Valley of Deep Darkness was written at the suggestion of a grief counselor. She believed Reverend Arner's story of overcoming hatred, anger, and the desire for revenge and discovering rituals that lead to peace would be beneficial to others. The evil within Reverend Arner came to the fore when his one-year-old grandson died in a fire set by the child's father, and his daughter, the child's mother, suffered second- and third-degree burns over 70 percent of her body, requiring a six-week stay in the University of Virginia Trauma/Burn Unit; she was not expected to survive. Also part of this story of overcoming was the trial of the child's father on capital one murder. Arson and attempted murder changes. Reverend Arner shares the spiritual resources within a community of faithful relationships which enabled him and his wife to overcome, to come "through the valley of deepest darkness."

Book excerpt: Last Days of the Koonung is a rip roaring, fast paced adventure characterized by evocative imagery, positive values and original themes. Appealing to the imagination of readers aged 8 to 12, the story is set on Melbourne’s urban fringe where nature and city collide. It is here that Adam and Tom are persuaded by Adam’s older brother to climb the gigantic tree that grows in Edgars Valley. Unknowingly they cross the Gateway into the fourth dimension, ‘The World Without’, a beautiful land where the power of life is richer and greater than anything that exists in our world. However, a decade’s long conflict rages between the long-suffering Marou and tormented Fras who were recreated as lesser beings during the Diminishing; a catastrophic event brought on by Adam’s father when he was a boy. The Diminishing has left the Fras deformed and the Marou lessened in power and stature. The boys soon learn that the Fras have found one of the lost Life Elements which imbue extraordinary powers upon the holder. While the Marou seek the Elements in the hope of being restored, the Fras are filled with hate, intent on regaining the Elements and taking their revenge on the boy’s father, his family and the Marou. ‘For young reader, this rapidly evolving story, energetic writing and original themes sustain the narrative, for daring beginning to climactic end.’ ‘The book embodies the adventurous spirit of pre-adolescence when reality and fantasy overlap, as make-believe games, exploring and climbing trees become extraordinary.’

Book excerpt: The Amatta Valley is a peaceful-even idyllic-land populated by the servants of the Living God. This is where Ra'ah and his four friends have spent their lives, travelling between the four villages and the great city of Kathik. Never in their wildest dreams did they think all of this could end. But in a single night of terror and sudden revelation, they are thrust from relative obscurity to become harbingers of the Valley's very destruction. And now they have to convince everybody that their message is truly from the Living God-that all must flee to the mythical Mountain of the Living God or be swept up in that coming devastation. Facing both the threat of an unknown enemy and the mounting incredulity of a people comfortable with where they are and what they believe, the five have only four weeks to complete their mission.

Download or read book A Long, Long Trail written by Kent Gill and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-01-16 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A long life fully lived might appropriately be documented in some concrete, long-lasting, retrievable form. So, at the risk of being charged with hubris, I here have accounted for those years, giving credit to ones who accompanied me along the way and implying the values that have motivated me. It has been a life of striving, of involvement, of reaching out for new experience, of celebrating successes and learning from failures. This journey has been deeply rewarding, taking me from the onion fields of Western Colorado to the tranquil forests of Central Oregon, through junior high classrooms and hotel conference rooms, over High Sierra passes, to the offices of government and to many foreign countries. Here I share that life story.
Download or read book The Shadow Hunter written by Pat Murphy and published by Open Road Media. This book was released on 2014-04-15 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A time-travel adventure from the Nebula Award–winning author: “Murphy’s [blend] of fantasy and reality honorably recalls the novels of Margaret Atwood” (Publishers Weekly). For generations, the people of the valley have hunted the bear, killing it to draw on its mystical power. On his first hunt, a young member of the tribe pursues the bear through the wilderness. Moments before their battle begins, the boy plunges into darkness—and awakes in a world beyond his wildest imagination, where nature is corrupted and the boundaries of time mean nothing at all. The researchers who brought him into the future call the Neanderthal boy “Sam.” The portal he fell through is the plaything of a billionaire intent on repopulating the world of its many extinct animals: birds, wolves, and bears. Sam was brought along by accident, but he will find a purpose in these alien surroundings. Guided by one woman who can see the past and another who can look into the future, the boy who hunted the bear will unlock the mysteries of time itself.
