Book Synopsis Central Ontario: Zone 15 Fishing Mapbook by : Russell Mussio
Download or read book Central Ontario: Zone 15 Fishing Mapbook written by Russell Mussio and published by Mussio Ventures. This book was released on 2013-10-15 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the scenic central part of Ontario. The city of Barrie north along Georgian Bay to the French River frames the area's western edge, while the Ottawa River from the town of Arnprior north to Deux Rivieres makes the eastern edge. Haliburton, Huntsville, Parry Sound and Barry's Bay are just a few of the prominent cities or towns in between. This scenic cottage country region is highlighted by plenty of Crown Land and mixed coniferous and deciduous forest blanketing the rolling Canadian Shield. The most prominent feature of the area is historic Algonquin Provincial Park, a bastion of Canadian wilderness only a few hours from the urban centres of the province. The scenery is as much of the fishing experience as the fishing itself. The water bodies in this area range from easily accessible urban lakes and streams to remote access or hike-in only lakes. Depth charts and information on access, facilities, fishing tips, and stocking enable anglers to choose ideal fishing spot.
Book Synopsis A Timeless Place by : Julia Harrison
Download or read book A Timeless Place written by Julia Harrison and published by UBC Press. This book was released on 2013-09 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Julia Harrison's first summer of living in Ontario approached, she became aware of the culture of the cottage. Friends talked of nothing but languid afternoons on the dock, but Harrison marveled at the investment of money and labour that the idyllic escapes demanded. Curious about the rich and passionate meaning these places seemed to hold, she studied cottagers in the Haliburton region over the course of seven years. Thoughtfully and engagingly written, A Timeless Place considers the family cottage as a place where memories are treasured, national identity is celebrated, spiritual balance is restored, and a few dark secrets are kept.

Book Synopsis Integrating Food into Urban Planning by : Yves Cabannes
Download or read book Integrating Food into Urban Planning written by Yves Cabannes and published by UCL Press. This book was released on 2018-11-22 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The integration of food into urban planning is a crucial and emerging topic. Urban planners, alongside the local and regional authorities that have traditionally been less engaged in food-related issues, are now asked to take a central and active part in understanding how food is produced, processed, packaged, transported, marketed, consumed, disposed of and recycled in our cities. While there is a growing body of literature on the topic, the issue of planning cities in such a way they will increase food security and nutrition, not only for the affluent sections of society but primarily for the poor, is much less discussed, and much less informed by practices. This volume, a collaboration between the Bartlett Development Planning Unit at UCL and the Food Agricultural Organisation, aims to fill this gap by putting more than 20 city-based experiences in perspective, including studies from Toronto, New York City, Portland and Providence in North America; Milan in Europe and Cape Town in Africa; Belo Horizonte and Lima in South America; and, in Asia, Bangkok and Tokyo. By studying and comparing cities of different sizes, from both the Global North and South, in developed and developing regions, the contributors collectively argue for the importance and circulation of global knowledge rooted in local food planning practices, programmes and policies.
