Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text claims that tourism needs a fresh and updated approach and discusses why this is so. Dynamic tourism is an approach which needs to be adopted by the tourism industry. This process caters for the consumer's emerging familiarity with tourism, to meet rapid and on-going change, and to be a reflection of the character and priorities of modern day society overall. The book has three sections: one part introduces why change in tourism is necessary and shows change appearing; the second section presents the practicalities with examples from across the world; the final section outlines the full concept of dynamic tourism and says how it needs to be implemented in the future.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book portrays a fresh approach to tourism. It argues for increased and radical change by the tourism industry and claims that this change is made necessary by the emergent sophistication and increased experience of tourists who require a different style of treatment and type of product. Dynamic Tourism is presented as a formula to meet the needs of the prevalent consumer society, to cater for its changing wishes, to reflect society’s contemporary concerns and to accommodate the ongoing projected growth of tourism. The focus is upon the tourist, highlighting the need for the tourism industry to give greater consideration to tourists’ changing needs, and to take a more flexible, modern and thought-out approach. The argument is delivered in three parts. First, the book indicates why Dynamic Tourism is needed as a method, and shows its first signs of appearing. It then delivers the detail and practicality of the process. Finally, the complete concept is outlined and the method of future implementation is projected. Examples from around the world are used to explain and illustrate the argument. Underlying the whole discussion is the recognition that the tourism arena is a resource of finite size, needing capacity for renewal and requiring the most intelligent, adaptable and considered use. The intended readership for this book includes all participants in the tourism experience: the tourism industry, its policy makers, operatives and stakeholders, and those students who intend to join their ranks, existing tourists who are disappointed with the limited provision offered to them at present and who wish for better in the future, along with the increasing number of new tourists whose outlook is very different from those of the past.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title offers a dynamic understanding of tourism, usually defined in terms of clearly circumscribed places and temporalities, to grasp its changing spatial patterns. The first part looks at the "befores" – everyday places such as daily markets, flea markets, urban neighbourhoods, that have captured the tourists’ interest and have progressively experienced new development in their ordinary patterns. The second part investigates the "afters" – former tourist spaces moving beyond the tourism sphere and becoming places of everyday life, study, or work. Chapters explore what this means for local societies and examine this contemporary phenomenon of former tourist attractions becoming ordinary and everyday, and of ordinary places beginning to take on a tourist dimension. The hybridisation of tourist practices and ordinary practices is also explored through a range of international case studies and examples written by highly regarded and interdisciplinary academics. This edited volume will be of great interest to upper-level students, academics, and researchers in tourism, urban studies, and land use planning.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scientific Essay from the year 2010 in the subject Tourism, University of Innsbruck (Tourism & Service Industry), language: English, abstract: This Paper focuses on the importance of strategic positioning of destinations and its stakeholders in a globalised competitive environment. The theoretical background is based on the research on destinations and destination management, strategic marketing, strategy development and positioning strategies and positioning models. A new theoretic framework from a RBV was developed to identify the most important elements of the successful positioning of destinations and its organizations from a stakeholder perspective. An empirical study was applied to all stakeholders who form a destination by the example of three very successful positioned destinations in the Austrian Alps. The theoretical model was tested by the application of frequency distribution and multiple linear regression analysis. Most of the points were confirmed but also a few rejected which asks for further research. However, the applied model gives a great insight in how stakeholders can successful and sustainable position their organizations and the destination as a whole. It further can be used as a tool to find an efficient positioning strategy for young entrepreneurs or gives helpful advice for stagnating or decreasing businesses to formulate a new positioning strategy or aim for a relaunch.
