Book Synopsis Elastic Dynamic Response of Axisymmetric Structures by : Edward L. Wilson
Download or read book Elastic Dynamic Response of Axisymmetric Structures written by Edward L. Wilson and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The finite element method coupled with a stable step-by-step integration procedure was used for the elastic dynamic analysis of two-dimensional plane strain solids. The computer program developed was machine independent and was designed to be used in the dynamic analysis of day-to-day engineering problems. The purpose of this investigation is to extend the step-by-step approach to the analysis of axisymmetric structures. In addition, new coding techniques have been introduced in order to increase the capacity of the program. Also, a higher order axisymmetric finite element has been developed which has significantly increased the accuracy of the procedure for the same numerical effort. Since the axisymmetric formulation reduces the plane strain case for a large radius, the present axisymmetric computer program replaces the original program. (Author).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until now, information on the dynamic loading of structures has been widely scattered. No other book has examined the different types of loading in a comprehensive and systematic manner, and looked at their signficance in the design process. The book begins with a survey of the probabilistic background to all forms of loads, which is particularly i
Download or read book Structural Dynamics written by Mario Paz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-20 with total page 854 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: solution of structural dynamics problems is introduced in this new edition. This program was selected from among the various professional programs available because of its capability in solving complex problems in structures as well as its wide use in professional practice by structural engineers. SAP2000 includes routines for the analysis and design of structures with linear or nonlinear behavior subjected to static or dynamics loads; (material non-linearity or large displacements non-linearities) and may be used most efficiently in the microcomputer. The larger versions of SAP2000 have the capability for the analysis of structures modeled with virtually any large number of nodes. This new fifth edition of the book uses, almost exclusively, the introductory version of SAP2000 which has a capability limited to 25 nodes or 25 elements. A CD ROM containing the introductory version of SAP2000 as well as the educational set of th the program developed by the author is included in this 5 edition of Structural Dynamics: Theory and Computation. The set of educational programs in Structural Dynamics includes programs to determine the response in the time domain or in the frequency domain using the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) of structures modeled as a single oscillator. Also included is a program to determine the response of an inelastic system with elastoplastic behavior, and another program for the development of seismic response spectral charts.

Book Synopsis Critical Earthquake Response of Elastic-Plastic Structures and Rigid Blocks under Near-Fault Ground Motions: Closed-Form Approach via Double Impulse by : Izuru Takewaki
Download or read book Critical Earthquake Response of Elastic-Plastic Structures and Rigid Blocks under Near-Fault Ground Motions: Closed-Form Approach via Double Impulse written by Izuru Takewaki and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2016-05-26 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This eBook is the second in a series of books on the critical earthquake response of elastic-plastic structures or rigid blocks under near-fault ground motions, and includes four original research papers which were published in the specialty section Earthquake Engineering in ‘Frontiers in Built Environment’. Several extensions of the first book1 are included here. The first article is on the soil-structure interaction problem. The reduction of an original soil-structure interaction model into a single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) model enables the application of the original theory for an SDOF model to such complicated soil-structure interaction model. The second article is concerned with the extension of the original theory for an SDOF model to a 2DOF model. Since the simple application of the original theory for an SDOF model to a multi-degree-of-freedom model is difficult due to out-of-phase phenomenon of multiple masses, a convex model theory is introduced and an upper bound of elastic-plastic response is derived. The third article is related to the stability problem of structures (collapse problems of structures) in which the P-delta effect is included. It is shown that the original theory for an SDOF model with elastic-perfectly plastic restoring-force characteristic can be applied to a model with negative second slope. The fourth article is an application of the energy balance approach to an overturning limit problem of rigid blocks. A closed-form expression of the overturning limit of rigid blocks is derived for the first time after the Housner’s pioneering work in 1963. The approach presented in this book, together with the first book, is an epoch-making accomplishment to open the door for simpler and deeper understanding of structural reliability of built environments in the elastic-plastic and nonlinear range.
Book Synopsis Structural Dynamics by : G.I. Schueller
Download or read book Structural Dynamics written by G.I. Schueller and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains some new developments in the area of Structural Dynamics. In general it reflects the recent efforts of several Austrian research groups during the years 1985 - 1990. The contents of this book cover both theoretical developments as well as practical applications and hence can be utilized by researchers as well as the practicing engineers. Quite naturally, realistic modeling of a number of load types such as wind and earthquake loading, etc. , requires taking into account statistical uncertainties. Hence these loads have to be characterized by stochastic processes. As a consequence, stochastic aspects must play a major role in modem structural dynamics. Since an extended modeling of the load processes should not be counterbalanced by simplifying the structural models, considerable efforts have been put into the development of procedures which allow the utilization of e. g. FE models and codes which are utilized presently in context with simplified, i. e. "deterministic" load models. Thus the processing of the additional information on loads as well as including statistical properties of the material allows to provide additional answers, i. e. quantification of the risk of structural failure. This volume concentrates on four major areas, i. e. on load modeling, structural response analysis, computational reliability procedures, and finally on practical application. Quite naturally only special fields and particular, i. e. selected types of problems can be covered. Specific reference is made, however, to cases where generalizations are possible.
