Book excerpt: The Mahabharata, one of India's most cherished epics, has fascinated generations. The age-old saga of warring cousins-the valiant Pandavas and the formidable Kauravas-has left an indelible mark on our collective imagination. Yet, beneath the stories of valour and villainy lie complex human emotions that challenge our ideas about 'good' and 'evil'. Can the virtuous always conquer the malevolent? Are the Kauravas truly the embodiment of darkness, while the Pandavas exude righteousness? Does Dharma triumph in the end? In Dwapar Katha: The Stories of the Mahabharata, Sudipta Bhawmik delves deep into the intricacies of human nature as he explores the psyches of an eclectic cast of characters, unearthing their motivations and desires. He immerses us in their ceaseless inner struggles on a battlefield more profound than Kurukshetra. Feel the seething anger of Bheem as he rages against the silent Yudhishtir during Draupadi's disrobing and grieve with Duroyadhan when he loses his dear friend Karna in the war. Explore the concepts of Dharma and Karma along with the Pandavas, as Sudipta unearths age-old tales of the Vana Parva, where rishis share life lessons with the exiled Pandavas. Rooted in Sudipta's immensely popular podcast, which has recorded over 40 million downloads, Dwapar Katha is a delight to read. The captivating prose and stunning illustrations breathe new life into this timeless tale where darkness and light intertwine and heroes are often indistinguishable from villains. The Mahabharata has never been more enchanting, thought-provoking and alive.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the intersections between gender and identity by critically examining female spaces. It has famously been argued that men and women are made in culture. As such, this volume explores how spaces—social, political, cultural, historical, and even cyber—affect the creative, personal, urban and global identities of women. The scholarly approaches of the contributors here probe into these spaces and analyze the problematic of gender identities as they are constructed, reconstructed or deconstructed through processes of appropriation, subversion and signification. The functional politics of patriarchy influences a range of networks that include social, cultural, political, and religious archetypes. This book will open new vistas in women’s studies through dialogues and discussions on the various facets of “Space”, and how in turn they generate the rhetoric of agency and power or again how they annihilate attempts at emancipation and empowerment. Furthermore, the book explores the diversity of women’s experiences and their contributions across cultures, and examines knowledge and practices in the light of gender differences, suggesting new ways to “conceptualize the relations between the self and the ever changing global communities”. Its interdisciplinary nature, drawing on the humanities, arts, social sciences will give it a wide readership among students, teachers and researchers. In addition, since women’s studies is one of the most sought-after academic disciplines of the contemporary academic world, this book will generate interest and contribute to the dynamic nature of women’s studies research.

Book excerpt: Bharatvarsh consisted of today’s India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Burma and SriLanka. Britishers partitioned this nation from time to time with the last jolt in 1947 by creating West and East Pakistan based on 2 nation theory accepted by the Congress leaders Gandhi and Nehru against the wishes of Hindu majority. The partition was made on the basis that Muslims wanted their own separate country. Hence all Muslims should have gone to Pakistan and all Hindus should have come to Bharat. However, Nehru-Liyaquat Pact permitted 3 crore Muslims to stay in Bharat. While Pakistan declared itself an Islamic country and persecuted the Hindus staying in Pakistan and reducing their strength from 22% inn 1947 to 2% in 2021, Bharat did not declare itself Hindu Rashtra resulting into burgeoning of Muslim population in Bharat from 3 crore to 35 crore. There were several countries in the world which were in the same or even worst position in 1947 including Britain itself, France, Germany, Japan, Israel, China, Korea, Spain, etc. All these countries except Bharat have become developed countries now unlike Bharat which is limping for development. Did we really get independence? Why are we facing insurgencies, communal riots, engineered unrest, protests and strikes? Rampant corruption? Divisive forces? Why nonplan expenses are more than plan expenditures? The foundation of the independence of our country has been made on wrong premises and gospels. It is utmost necessary to go to the root causes of the prevailing circumstances.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The echoes of ancient Indian wisdom can be heard from the oldest of scriptures that existed many years ago. Even thousands of years before they were written down on palm leaves, the teachings were passed on from generations to generations, from the teachers to the disciples in their oral form. These works are amongst the oldest of humanity. They laid the foundation of one of the most tolerant and diverse religions in the world, the Sanatan Dharma or Hinduism, which is marked by a wide range of ethos and philosophical approaches. Covering the vastness and immensity of the ancient Indian scriptures is akin to capturing a gigantic ocean in a small pitcher. Thus, in this book, the author has tried to catch a few 'echoes' resonating with age-old wisdom and has presented them to the readers. the book unravels the knowledge hidden inside the Samhitas, Brahmanas, Aranyakas and Upanishads of the Shruti that form the Vedas, and in the Smriti like Agamas, Dharma Shastras and so on. In short, it provides a glimpse, or rather a macro view of the ancient treasure of India.

The Dasha Avatar is the Puranic story of the ten incarnations of Vishnu who descends to the terrestrial world to establish stability and order, time and again. The avatars occur in a sequence – the first was matsya or fish representing life in water, followed by kurma or turtle signifying life in water and on land, then varaha or boar alluding to terrestrial life and so on. The sequence of the avatars could be taken to symbolise various stages in the evolution of life culminating in the advent of the perfect being.

MisirHiralall explains the history of Hindu dance and how colonization caused the dance form to move from sacred to a Westernized system that emphasizes culture. Postcolonialism is a main theme throughout this text, as religion and culture do not remain static. MisirHiralall points to a postcolonial return to Hindu dance as a religious and sacred dance form while positioning Hindu dance in the Western culture in which she lives.

This book was released on 2022-11-15 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An aphorism (sutra) expresses the genus of its meaning in a few terse words. The Brahma Sutras systematically explain the basic principles of Vedanta, the science of Supreme Reality. When contemplated, they reveal the innermost metaphysical secrets. Today, harmony is the need of the hour. The ephemeral world needs spiritual awareness, and this is what the Vedantins visualise. Vedic scriptures offer comforting counsel. They throw a kindly light. Man has distorted vision: he dotes on apparently real and also non-real phenomena. True vision makes him cognize the universal Being in nature’s creations. Realization of this awareness is liberation (moksha). The be-all and end-all of life of the human being is the realization of constant integrated awareness —of Brahman visualized both as the primary, absolute, supreme, unlimited entity and as its subsidiary cosmic creative aspect and mergence in Brahman. In this Stream of Aphorisms (Sutra Vahini) on Brahman, Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has lighted the universal lamp of the wisdom of Atma/Brahman (Divine Self). This stream of aphorisms first appeared in serialized form in Sanathana Sarathi. Bhagavan, in His infinite love, elaborated on the “Essence of Brahma Sutras in twelve selected aphorisms”. Bhagavan’s sublime and profound words and spiritual wisdom are indeed highly elevating and illuminating. Bathing in this pellucid Stream of Aphorisms, a person develops correct or true vision of Reality, bestowing supreme delight. In the words of Bhagavan Baba, “Acquisition of the higher knowledge alone can fulfill the main purpose of human life. Such knowledge makes one aware that one is not the inert insentient body, etc., but that one is consciousness itself manifesting as the embodiment of being-awareness-bliss (satchidananda). When this truth dawns and is experienced, one becomes a person liberated while alive.” This is the state of realization of the innate nature of a people —the divinity of humanity.

Book excerpt: Lalitha Sahasra Nama (Thousand Names of Goddess Lalitha) are chanted everyday by the devotees of Divine Mother. There are the most prominent among all the hymns of Devi (God in the form of Mother). Though these names have many hidden meanings, they are basically Tantric in nature, because the sadhana of Sakti (God as energy) is the key factor Tantras. However there are many verses in this hymn that praise the Para Brahman (Supreme One God) of Vedas. The hidden secrets of many disciplines like Astrology, Vedanta, Yoga and Tantra are explained in this book at respective places while commenting on the hidden meanings of these names. There is no such commentary on these verses in recent times which reveals as much as this book does, It is hoped that this book will motivate the readers who are in the path of sadhana to move ahead towards realization of their spiritual practice.

Book excerpt: This book is second part of the Kundalini science series. First and second parts are also availab;e. It is the compiled form of blog-posts. Those posts are written by Premyogi vajra, a mystic yogi. He is enlightened as well as he has his kundalini awakened. These all posts are related to kundalini. One post corresponds to one chapter. Premyogi vajra is writing about Kundalini since 3 years ago, when his kundalini awakened after one year long continued kundalini yoga meditation. He became amazed on seeing that nowhere Kundalini had been mentioned or described completely. Even Kundalini had not been defined properly. He searched and read many kundalini awakening experiences, but he found none as genuine and complete. Although he found Samadhi as mentioned in Patanjali Yoga Sutras as equivalent to Kundalini, but that was described in a mystic and ancient way that was difficult to be understood by the laymen type general public. Therefore inspired by these shortcomings, he decided to present every know-how about kundalini in very simple or childish way keeping everything at ground level, true, experiential, scientific, original, practical and intuitive. That genuine, honest and humane effort resulted into the origination of this wonderful book. That is why this book appears as a blessing for kundalini seekers. Because it is not comfortable to read so many blog posts together on glare producing screens, therefore those posts were presented in the form of a kindle e-book that is comfortable and enjoying to read. As a result, it is fully hoped that readers will find this book spiritually uplifting and comfortable to read.
