Download or read book Drivel written by Julia Scott and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2014-09-02 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The writing in this book is so bad, it deserves its own taxonomy of suckitude. Gillian Flynn, Mary Roach, Dave Eggers, Rick Moody, Chuck Palahniuk, Amy Tan, A.J. Jacobs, Daniel Clowes, Jeff Greenwald, Po Bronson…the list goes on. They all sucked once, and they all have the guts to share some of their crappiest early work in Drivel: an uplifting bit of voyeurism, based on the sold-out “Regreturature” stage shows in San Francisco, and brought to you by Litquake and the San Francisco Writers’ Grotto. Within these pages you’ll find abstruse and esoteric poetry (bad); incoherent and illogical short stories (worse); bumfuzzling proto-journalism (shameful); and pretentious, overwrought journal entries (we’ll not speak of this again). Thanks to these courageous but foolhardy writers, the world now knows the real meaning of a work-in-progress.
Download or read book Pure Drivel written by Steve Martin and published by Hachette Books. This book was released on 2024-04-09 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The brilliantly funny New York Times Bestseller! Steve Martin's talent has always defied definition: a seasoned actor, a razor-sharp screenwriter, an acclaimed playwright, and, of course, the ingenious comedian who turned King Tut into a national craze. In this widely praised collection of humorous riffs, Martin shows he is a master of the written word. From a re-imagining of the Schroedinger's Cat conundrum to a wild meditation on who Lolita would be at age fifty to a skit entitled "I Love Loosely", in which Lucy and Ricky Ricardo play the parts of Hillary and President Clinton, this collection by comic genius Steve Martin--some pieces of which have appeared in The New Yorker--is both hilariously funny and intelligent in its skewering of the topic at hand.
Download or read book Utta Drivel written by Alan Pinkett and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Utta Drivel is a comic novel that follows the lives of laid-back entrepreneur Wilfric and his two friends. Wilfric is 1600-odd years-old, which gives him a unique view of history. His get-togethers with walking disaster Boothroyd and eccentric patriot Utta Drivel always involve much laughter. Their lives cover a wide spectrum. From an Israeli landscape painter by the name of Mori Arty to the use of bonsai whales in garden ponds. From a naïve Catholic priest called Father Thousands to EU regulations requiring French windows to be made in France. From a Middle-aged Folk's Home to a conman called Big One O'Really. And whether funfairs are just a chance for 13-year-old girls to meet gypsies. As life goes by, Wilfric increasingly feels he is being watched. He eventually discovers who by, but not why. That is only resolved when they try to intercept him, resulting in an exciting canal barge chase. An audaciously satirical work in which the author's wit will make you laugh out loud.
Download or read book Utta Drivel Too written by Alan Pinkett and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-03-31 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alan Pinkett took up writing for the first time just a few years ago. He found he quite liked it and said he'd do some more if you're not careful. The result of that was his first comic novel, Utta Drivel, entered for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize. He is now pleased to present its successor, Utta Drivel Too. It describes the laughter-filled lives of friends Wilfric, Boothroyd & Utta Drivel and their surreal comic adventures when their normal existence is periodically deflected by outside events. These include increasingly frequent attacks instigated by a man sworn to be Wilfric's enemy - a one-time Israeli landscape painter by the name of Mori Arty... *** An audaciously satirical work in which the author's wit will make you laugh out loud.
Download or read book Utta Drivel Free written by Alan Pinkett and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-10-20 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Utta Drivel Free is a comic novel that follows the life of Wilfric and his friends Boothroyd and Utta Drivel. Wilfric is 1600-odd years-old, a longevity that can make for some interesting takes on history. Meeting up with walking disaster Boothroyd and the wonderfully eccentric patriot Utta Drivel leads to much laughter. Their sparkling conversations cover many interesting ideas. Are 10 commandments enough to cover 7 deadly sins? Why were typists ever needed - you wouldn't get a monk to do your handwriting for you, after all... But laid-back entrepreneur Wilfric has managed to make enemies in mystical Glastonbury after setting up a business there. This upset the Glastonbury Underworld and they took out a contract on him. The friends' lives become interspersed with attacks from two incompetent New Age hippies - Loco Chanel, a militant aromatherapist, and her mad partner, Ossie the Osteopath. An audaciously satirical work in which the author's wit will make you laugh out loud.
Book Synopsis An Eagle Tells Flying Stories with Associated Drivel by : John Murphy
Download or read book An Eagle Tells Flying Stories with Associated Drivel written by John Murphy and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-10-15 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about a shy boy, who learned discipline from strict parents and seven years of Parochial School. My ten years in a band taught marching. A graduate mechanical engineer, who loved to fly control line model airplanes, was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant, and found the Air Force a piece of cake. The Air Force taught me to fly, although I had little desire to do so, and pushed me to be an extremely aggressive pilot. Skill, knowledge, and training allowed me to advance through the highest performance jet aircraft during the time period of 1955 through 1984. Jet aircraft flown were the T-33A, F86F (Sabre), F100 (Series A, D & F Super-Sabre), F105 (B & D Thunderchief), and the F110 (F4D Phantom). My stories progress from Primary Flight School, through all training and missions in the above aircraft as Pilot, Test Pilot, Instructor, and Air to Air Fighter Pilot. Few understand the training and life of an Air Force Pilot, so the Drivel shows a portion of life with these interesting, actual flying stories. A most enjoyable read!

Kickstarter success: the book was funded independently by a first-time publisher through a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign.

If you've pondered these questions, and especially if you haven't, you need to read this book. It was written to tell you, the average Joe, everything there is to know about tiny hidden transmitters that can broadcast your personal and business conversations to spies, government agents . . . even the next-door neighbors. Includes scores of ideas and resources for protecting the privacy of landline, cellular and cordless telephones, as well as pagers, fax machines and computers, plus phone phreaking terms and tricks and, as one reviewer put it, true tales of the Biz that "will spook you . . . and a few that will make you laugh."
