Book Synopsis Interactive Multimedia Learning Environments by : Max Giardina
Download or read book Interactive Multimedia Learning Environments written by Max Giardina and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multimedia environments suggest to us a new perception of the state of changes in and the integration of new technologies that can increase our ability to process information. Moreover, they are obliging us to change our idea of knowledge. These changes are reflected in the obvious synergetic convergence of different types of access, communication and information exchange. The multimedia learning environment should not represent a passive object that only contains or assembles information but should become, on one side, the communication medium of the pedagogical intentions of the professor/designer and, on the other side, the place where the learner reflects and where he or she can play with, test and access information and try to interpret it, manipulate it and build new knowledge. The situation created by such a new learning environments that give new powers to individuals, particularly with regard to accessing and handling diversified dimensions of information, is becoming increasingly prevalent in the field of education. The old static equilibrium, in which fixed roles are played by the teacher (including the teaching environment) and the learner, is shifting to dynamic eqUilibrium where the nature of information and its processing change, depending on the situation, the learning context and the individual's needs.
Book Synopsis Television Research by : Ronald L. Jacobson
Download or read book Television Research written by Ronald L. Jacobson and published by McFarland. This book was released on 1995 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This directory consists of an alphabetical ordering of television-related categories. For each category, a brief conceptual overview is presented, followed by a list of relevant research or lecture topic suggestions and a bibliography of selected print sources (mostly books). Users should appreciate the directory as a reference tool intended solely as as guide to studying television and not as an end in itself. As such, the categories herein are not necessarily mutually exclusive; nor are the overviews, topic suggestions, and bibliographies meant to be comprehensive. Instead, this publication is intended to inform broadly, to stimulate critical thinking, and to serve as a catalyst for further inquiry. An Additional Sources section is included at the end of the directory. General reference books, relevant indexes and databases, scholarly journals, popular magazines, newspapers, and trade publications are listed. Libraries and museums containing special television-related collections are also noted. There always seems to be new print publications and electronic databases that provide access to television-related content. Please consider this directory as but one entry point to television research. Users are encouraged to solicit the expertise of a professional librarian in order to access the most relevant sources available on topics of interest.

Book Synopsis Structuring Vision: A History of Videotape by : Carmine Grimaldi
Download or read book Structuring Vision: A History of Videotape written by Carmine Grimaldi and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation explores the early history of videotape, uncovering the ways in which the electronic moving image crept into daily experience and reshaped institutions in postwar America. The new technology made the television screen a responsive participant in everyday life, able to replay events at the time and place they occurred. Beginning with the earliest marketing campaigns for videotape, we follow the technology as it accreted new meanings, uses, and expectations during its first two decades: from education, to psychiatry, to national communication systems. By attending both to the mundane and granular practices, as well as the networks that shaped them, this dissertation shows how video exceeded the images and information it conveyed-shaping behavior, opening up new possibilities of thinking and feeling, and inflecting senses of self.

Book Synopsis Nursing Theorists and Their Work - E-Book by : Martha Raile Alligood
Download or read book Nursing Theorists and Their Work - E-Book written by Martha Raile Alligood and published by Elsevier Health Sciences. This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 765 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most comprehensive of its kind, Nursing Theorists and Their Work, 8th Edition provides an in-depth look at 39 theorists of historical, international, and significant importance. Each chapter features a clear, consistent presentation of a key nursing philosophy or theory. Case studies, critical thinking activities, and in-depth objective critiques of nursing theories help bridge the gap between theory and application. Critical Thinking Activities at the end of each theorist chapter help you to process the theory presented and apply it to personal and hypothetical practice situations. A case study at the end of each theorist chapter puts the theory into a larger perspective, demonstrating how it can be applied to practice. A Brief Summary in each theorist chapter helps you review for tests and confirm your comprehension. A Major Concepts & Definitions box included in each theorist chapter outlines the theory’s most significant ideas and clarifies content-specific vocabulary. Each theorist chapter is written by a scholar specializing in that particular theorist’s work, often having worked closely with the theorists, to provide the most accurate and complete information possible. Beginning chapters provide a strong foundation on the history and philosophy of science, logical reasoning, and the theory development process. Diagrams for theories help you visualize and better understand inherently abstract concepts. Pictures of theorists, as well as a listing of contact information for each individual, enables you to contact the source of information directly. Theorist chapters have been reviewed and edited by the theorist, validating the accounts set forth in the text for currency and accuracy. An extensive bibliography at the conclusion of each theorist chapter outlines numerous primary and secondary sources of information, ideal for both undergraduate and graduate research projects. A new chapter introduces the theorist Afaf Meleis and covers her Transition Theory that has helped shape the theoretical development of nursing. Points for further study at the end of each chapter direct you to assets available for additional information. Need to know information is highlighted in at-a-glance summary boxes throughout to help you quickly review key concepts. Personal quotes from the theorists help you gain insight and make each complex theory more memorable. Updated references include only published works to ensure accuracy and credibility.
