While these dynamic developing economies do not form any specific institutional group, they constitute very large economies and markets. These emerging Asian giants share common boundaries, opportunities, and challenges. Their trade, investment, production, and infrastructure already are significantly integrated and will become more so in the coming decades. This book focuses on the prospects and challenges for growth and transformation of the region's major and rapidly growing emerging economies to 2030. It examines the drivers of growth and development in the ACI economies and the factors that will affect the quality of development. It also explores the links among the ACI economies and how their links may shape regional and global competition and cooperation.

Download or read book Inflation Matters written by Pete Comley and published by Pete Comley. This book was released on 2015-01-30 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inflation Matters is the first truly comprehensive book about inflation written in a simple and easy-to-read style. The book covers everything from the basics of how inflation is defined and measured through to the impact of inflation and its winners and losers. It highlights the difficulty in calculating inflation and that conventional measures (such as CPI in the UK) often underestimate it for a number of reasons. It also examines deflation and why it is regarded as a problem by economists. The book examines the history of world inflation. It looks at the causes of inflation and shows that they are many and complex. The book reveals a new model of inflation – Inflationary Wave Theory. It proposes that long-term inflation is created by population growth and competition for resources. Price increases depict a wave-like pattern over the centuries due to effects of man exploiting the inflation trend to such a point that prices eventually consolidate over a long period. The world is about to enter this stage of near-zero inflation. The book examines how this transition might take place and the conditions that need to be fulfilled. It is likely to be accompanied by some form of deflationary shock. Investing over the coming decades will therefore be difficult and the book discusses the implications of it for future wealth management. Book contents: PART I: INFLATION FACT AND FICTION 1 What is inflation? 2 Inflation and the money supply theory 3 Other theories about inflation 4 Deflation and why it is regarded as a problem 5 UK inflation measures 6 Inflation measurement issues PART II: INFLATION PAST 7 Inflationary Wave Theory 8 World War I and learning about hyperinflation 9 The 1930s depression and the deflation bogeyman 10 World War II, debts and the low inflation world 11 The 1970s inflation crisis and fiat currencies PART III: INFLATION PRESENT 12 The Great Moderation and the Great Recession 13 Japan and deflation 14 Governments and inflation 15 The era of inflation targeting 16 The impact of current inflation PART IV: DEFLATION YET TO COME 17 The big picture: a century of more stable prices 18 The transition period and near-term inflation 19 Price stability and the consolidation period 20 Managing wealth as we head towards near-zero inflation More information can be found at: inflationmatters.com.

Book Synopsis World Economic Outlook, October 2018 by : International Monetary Fund. Research Dept.
Download or read book World Economic Outlook, October 2018 written by International Monetary Fund. Research Dept. and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2018-10-09 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global growth for 2018–19 is projected to remain steady at its 2017 level, but its pace is less vigorous than projected in April and it has become less balanced. Downside risks to global growth have risen in the past six months and the potential for upside surprises has receded. Global growth is projected at 3.7 percent for 2018–19—0.2 percentage point lower for both years than forecast in April. The downward revision reflects surprises that suppressed activity in early 2018 in some major advanced economies, the negative effects of the trade measures implemented or approved between April and mid-September, as well as a weaker outlook for some key emerging market and developing economies arising from country-specific factors, tighter financial conditions, geopolitical tensions, and higher oil import bills. The balance of risks to the global growth forecast has shifted to the downside in a context of elevated policy uncertainty. Several of the downside risks highlighted in the April 2018 World Economic Outlook (WEO)—such as rising trade barriers and a reversal of capital flows to emerging market economies with weaker fundamentals and higher political risk—have become more pronounced or have partially materialized. Meanwhile, the potential for upside surprises has receded, given the tightening of financial conditions in some parts of the world, higher trade costs, slow implementation of reforms recommended in the past, and waning growth momentum.

Download or read book Commodities and Equities written by Bahattin Büyüksahin and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2009 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Amidst a sharp rise in commodity investing, many have asked whether commodities nowadays move in sync with traditional financial assets. The authors provide evidence that challenges this idea. Using dynamic correlation and recursive co-integration techniques, they found that the relation between the returns on investable commodity and U.S. equity indices has not changed significantly in the last fifteen years. The authors also find no evidence of any secular increase in co-movement between the returns on commodity and equity investments during periods of extreme returns.

The second part deals with the statistical pattern recognition approach, starting with a simple example and finishing with unsupervised learning through clustering. Section three discusses the syntactic approach and explores such topics as the capabilities of string grammars and parsing; higher dimensional representations and graphical approaches. Part four presents an excellent overview of the emerging neural approach including an examination of pattern associations and feedforward nets. Along with examples, each chapter provides the reader with pertinent literature for a more in-depth study of specific topics.
Book Synopsis Do Macroeconomic Variables have an Effect on the US Stock Market? by : Dennis Sauert
Download or read book Do Macroeconomic Variables have an Effect on the US Stock Market? written by Dennis Sauert and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2010-10-12 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2010 in the subject Economics - Case Scenarios, grade: 1.0, Berlin School of Economics, language: English, abstract: The objective of this paper is to examine whether the unanticipated change of specific macroeconomic variables influences the US stock market represented by the S&P 500 using monthly data from 1986 to 2007. Thereby, the performance of the arbitrage pricing theory of Ross (cp. Ross, S., 1976) shall be studied. To explain the behavior of the US stock market return the paper contains the five predefined variables consumer price index (CPI), industrial production index (IPT), money stock M1 (M1), total consumer credit outstanding (TCC) and the term structure of interest rates (Term) which are approximately similar to those variables used by Ross (cp. Chen N. F. et al., 1986, pp. 383-403). Applying the OLS method, it was found that CPI, IPT and Term are negatively related to the US stock return. It was also detected that M1 affects the stock market lagging 8 months and 12 months. However, the test statistics showed that TCC has rather no impact on the US stock market return. To ensure that the ultimate results are not spurious, care will be taken in regards to autocorrelation, multicollinearity, serial correlation as well as heteroskedasticity.
