Book Synopsis The Divine Manifold by : Roland Faber
Download or read book The Divine Manifold written by Roland Faber and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2014-07-30 with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Divine Manifold is a postmodern enquiry in intersecting themes of the concept and reality of multiplicity in a chaosmos that does not refuse a dimension of theopoetics, but rather defines it in terms of divine polyphilia, the love of multiplicity. In an intricate play on Dante’s Divine Comedy, this book engages questions of religion and philosophy through the aporetic dynamics of love and power, locating its discussions in the midst of, and in between the spheres of a genuine philosophy of multiplicity. This philosophy originates from the poststructuralist approach of Gilles Deleuze and the process philosophical inspirations of Alfred N. Whitehead. As their chaosmos invites questions of ultimate reality, religious pluralism and multireligious engagement, a theopoetics of love will find paradoxical dissociations and harmonizations with postmodern sensitivities of language, power, knowledge and embodiment. At the intersection of poststructuralism’s and process theology’s insights in the liberating necessity of multiplicity for a postmodern cosmology, the book realizes its central claim. If there is a divine dimension of the chaosmos, it will not be found in any identification with mundane forces or supernatural powers, but on the contrary in the absolute difference of polyphilic love from creativity. Yet, the concurrent indifference of love and power—its mystical undecidability in terms of any conceptualization—will lead into existential questions of the insistence on multiplicity in a world of infinite becoming as inescapable background for its importance and creativeness, formulating an ecological and ethical impulse for a mystagogy of becoming intermezzo.

Book Synopsis Portals & Pearls by : Sherri Stevens
Download or read book Portals & Pearls written by Sherri Stevens and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2017-07-25 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if what you know about God just ain't so? Portals can be rather inconspicuous and elusive, but when we find one of these obscure openings, we discover that it can be a divine door that ushers us out of darkness and despair into a whole new dimension of freedom. Unfortunately, because of negative encounters we may have had with churchy people or the guilt and condemnation we may have suffered under religious teaching, we end up being driven away, and rightly so, from any further involvement with religion. A portal (for the purpose of this book) symbolizes a gateway of knowledge and understanding into God’s grace and truth intended to bring to light the gospel of Jesus Christ to lead us out from behind the iron bars of false beliefs that may be enslaving us. This book was written to display God’s prismatic promises and the biblical wisdom God has provided for us as answers and antidotes to the various problems we may encounter in life.
Book Synopsis All That Is in God by : James E. Dolezal
Download or read book All That Is in God written by James E. Dolezal and published by Reformation Heritage Books. This book was released on 2017-07-13 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unknown to many, increasing numbers of conservative evangelicals are denying basic tenets of classical Christian teaching about God, with departures occurring even among those of the Calvinistic persuasion. James E. Dolezal’s All That Is in God provides an exposition of the historic Christian position while engaging with these contemporary deviations. His convincing critique of the newer position he styles “theistic mutualism” is philosophically robust, systematically nuanced, and biblically based. It demonstrates the need to maintain the traditional viewpoint, particularly on divine simplicity, and spotlights the unfortunate implications for other important Christian doctrines—such as divine eternality and the Trinity—if it were to be abandoned. Arguing carefully and cogently that “all that is in God is God Himself,” the work is sure to stimulate debate on the issue in years to come.

Book excerpt: Ghislaine Girabaldi slammed her classified copy of an NSA briefing paper on her desk in front of Alicia Clooney. “What’s this?” demanded the speaker. “Have you been to church lately?” Alicia Clooney picked up the document. The paper was an intelligence agency brief, classified Top Secret and NOFORN, which meant No Foreign access, with the subject line: “Islamic Jihad meetings in Damascus over the Stony Island Gang.” “Is there something in here that matters to me?” asked Alicia. “I don’t know anyone in Syria. And why, if it’s Top Secret, are you showing it to me?” The speaker pursed her lips. “Don’t bullshit me. You’ve seen a lot more than this, Alicia. God only knows how much Intel John gave you. But this involves your estranged husband, terrorists, and a priest.” “Okay, what did John do now?” “He offered a bribe to the head of Islamic Jihad.” Alicia gasped. “To do what? How much? Why?” “He wants Islamic Jihad to kill that old Jew, David Green,” said Girabaldi.

Book Synopsis Crafting Interpreters by : Robert Nystrom
Download or read book Crafting Interpreters written by Robert Nystrom and published by Genever Benning. This book was released on 2021-07-27 with total page 1021 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite using them every day, most software engineers know little about how programming languages are designed and implemented. For many, their only experience with that corner of computer science was a terrifying "compilers" class that they suffered through in undergrad and tried to blot from their memory as soon as they had scribbled their last NFA to DFA conversion on the final exam. That fearsome reputation belies a field that is rich with useful techniques and not so difficult as some of its practitioners might have you believe. A better understanding of how programming languages are built will make you a stronger software engineer and teach you concepts and data structures you'll use the rest of your coding days. You might even have fun. This book teaches you everything you need to know to implement a full-featured, efficient scripting language. You'll learn both high-level concepts around parsing and semantics and gritty details like bytecode representation and garbage collection. Your brain will light up with new ideas, and your hands will get dirty and calloused. Starting from main(), you will build a language that features rich syntax, dynamic typing, garbage collection, lexical scope, first-class functions, closures, classes, and inheritance. All packed into a few thousand lines of clean, fast code that you thoroughly understand because you wrote each one yourself.
