Book Synopsis Dislocations in Solids by : Hiroshi Suzuki
Download or read book Dislocations in Solids written by Hiroshi Suzuki and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-03-08 with total page 691 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume comprises the Proceedings of the Yamada Conference IX on Dislocations in Solids, held in August 1984 in Tokyo. The purpose of the conference was two-fold: firstly to evaluate the increasing data on basic properties of dislocations and their interaction with other types of defects in solids and, secondly, to increase understanding of the material properties brought about by dislocation-related phenomena. Metals and alloys, semi-conductors and ions crystals were discussed. One of the important points of contention was the electronic state at the core of dislocation. Another was the dislocation model of amorphous structure.
Download or read book Dislocations written by J. Friedel and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dislocations deals with the main properties of dislocations, including motion, climb, and vacancies. Topics covered include the elastic theory of dislocations, imperfect dislocations, and crystal growth, along with dislocation networks, annealing, and grain boundaries. The interaction of dislocations with other defects is also discussed. This book is comprised of 17 chapters and begins with an overview of the general properties of dislocations, with emphasis on perfect and real crystals and the general case for translation dislocations. The reader is then introduced to the motion of dislocations, including glide; vacancies and interstitial atoms; dislocation climb; imperfect dislocations and surfaces of misfit; and crystal growth, including growth from a liquid phase. The next section is devoted to the more or less complex networks of dislocations that can be formed in crystals, and to the plastic properties corresponding to these arrays. The remaining chapters explore the interactions of dislocations with other crystalline defects, primarily impurity atoms. This monograph is intended for physicists, metallurgists, materials scientists, research and engineering students, and research engineers.

Book Synopsis Crystal Lattice Defects and Dislocation Dynamics by : Robert A. Vardanian
Download or read book Crystal Lattice Defects and Dislocation Dynamics written by Robert A. Vardanian and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dislocations in solids are peculiar among numerous defects in the crystal lattice. From the viewpoint of dimensionality, dislocation represents one-dimensional defect, translationally invariant along its axis. Physically, it is a topological defect, i.e. a fictitious formation violating the lattice symmetry. As a result, dislocations have a significant effect on various electric and optical characteristics of metals, as well as semiconductors. This book reviews the state of experiment and theory concerning the principal mechanisms of dislocational motion. Depending on the value of applied load, dislocation dynamics is considered in the Peierls potential relief, random field of point defects, or under interaction with free electrons.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides an essential basis for an understanding of many of the physical and mechanical properties of crystalline solids. This new edition has been extensively revised and updated to reflect developments in the understanding of the subject, whilst retaining the clarity and comprehensibility of the original text. Substantial new sections are included, notably in topics relating to experiemental technqiues, the elastic properties of dislocations, forces on dislocations, dislocations in particular crystal structures, the dislocation content of boundaries, and the strength of crystalline solids.
