Plötzliche, langanhaltende Schulschließungen führten zu einer ganz neuen Art von Unterricht. Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den Problemen im Hinblick auf Homeschooling. Es soll herausgearbeitet werden, welche digitalen Medien eingesetzt und welche Wege genutzt wurden, um in Kontakt zu bleiben. Ebenso wird dargestellt, wo die Chancen liegen und was die Bedarfe darstellt. Die Forschungsfrage lautet daher: Welche Herausforderungen ergeben sich für Schülerschaft, Lehrkräfte und Eltern beim digitalen Lernen während der Corona-Pandemie in der Sekundarstufe? Um die Forschungsfrage zu beantworten, sind Fragebögen für Schülerinnen und Schüler, für die Eltern wie auch für die Lehrerschaft erstellt und analysiert worden. Im Theorieteil der Arbeit wurden dazu die Grundlagen zur Bearbeitung des Themas herausgearbeitet. Zunächst werden der Bildungsbegriff und damit zusammenhängende Faktoren erläutert. Im nächsten Schritt beschäftigt sich die Arbeit mit Medien in ihren verschiedenen Rollen, um das Thema tiefer zu durchdringen. Weiterhin werden erforderliche Kompetenzen des Lernens erläutert. Durch den Lockdown und dessen Auswirkungen sind Fragen zu den Themen Distanzlernen, Lern-Apps und Lernmanagementsysteme entstanden. Die weltweiten Beschränkungen des öffentlichen Lebens hatten auch Auswirkungen auf die mentale Gesundheit. Durch die Verbindung des theoretischen Teils und der Ergebnisanalysen der Fragebögen entsteht ein klares Bild. Von jetzt auf gleich den Unterricht auf Homeschooling umzustellen, stellte alle Beteiligten vor eine Menge Herausforderungen. Die Grenzen der Fragebögen werden beleuchtet und Hinweise für weitere Forschungsschritte gegeben.

In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird ausschließlich das Unterrichten an Schulen betrachtet, genauer gesagt der schulische Unterricht an einem Gymnasium. Die Auswirkungen auf den Unterricht an Hochschulen, Berufsschulen oder Universitäten werden dabei nicht berücksichtigt.

Bezogen auf den Arbeitsbereich der Lehrkräfte leitet sich hieraus die erste Forschungsfrage dieser Untersuchung ab: Welchen Einfluss hatte die Corona-Pandemie auf die Digital Literacy von Lehrkräften? Das zweite Forschungsinteresse liegt in den Einschätzungen und Beobachtungen der Lehrkräfte, ob sich Ungleichheiten in der Schule aufgrund verschiedener Faktoren, wie Zugänge und digitale Kompetenzen, vergrößert haben. Der Digital Divide kann zwischen Schulen, Lehrkräften sowie unter Schüler*innen auftreten. Folglich lautet die zweite Forschungsfrage: Inwiefern hat die Corona-Pandemie den Digital Divide an Schulen verstärkt? Schulen und Lehrkräfte ringen angesichts der zunehmenden Verbreitung digitaler Endgeräte und Lernsoftware damit, wie sie Technologien in den Lehrplan aufnehmen und Schüler*innen auf ihre (digitale) Zukunft vorbereiten können. Die Integration digitaler Medien in die Unterrichtspraxis ist noch nicht lange ein strategisches Thema der Schulentwicklung und Bildungspolitik. So traten erst mit dem Ausbruch der Corona-Pandemie im März 2020 weltweit einschneidende Veränderungen in vielen Lebensbereichen auf. Der Krisenmodus stieß einen Digitalisierungsschub im Alltag vieler Menschen an und diente als Katalysator für weitere Entwicklungsprozesse im Schulwesen. Diese unvorhergesehenen Veränderungen stellten alle Beteiligten vor die neue Aufgabe, sich in einer digitalen Lernumgebung zurechtzufinden. Dies beinhaltete vor allem sich an die plötzlich verändernde Arbeitswelt anzupassen und damit die Handhabung verschiedener neuer Medien und Plattformen, um weiterhin den Kontakt mit den Schüler*innen aufrechtzuerhalten und Unterricht durchführen zu können.

ICILS seeks to establish how well schools around the globe are responding to the need to provide young people with the necessary digital participatory competencies. Effective use of information and communication technologies (ICT) is an imperative for successful participation in an increasingly digital world. ICILS 2018 explores international differences in students’ computer and information literacy (CIL), namely their ability to use computers to investigate, create, and communicate at home, at school, in the workplace, and in the community. Participating countries also had an option to administer an assessment of students’ computational thinking (CT), focused on their ability to recognize aspects of real-world problems appropriate for computational formulation, and to evaluate and develop algorithmic solutions to those problems, so that the solutions could be operationalized with a computer. The data collected by ICILS 2018 show how digital competencies can be assessed using instruments representing authentic contexts for ICT use, and how students’ CIL and CT skills relate to school learning experiences, out-of-school contexts, and student characteristics. Those data also show how learning technologies are used in classrooms around the world. Background questionnaires asked students about their use of ICT, and collected information from teachers, schools, and national education systems about the resourcing and teaching of CIL (and CT) within their countries. The results of ICILS 2018 will enable policymakers and education systems to develop a better understanding of the contexts and outcomes of CIL (and CT) education programs.
