Grundlegend wird dabei der Fragestellung nachgegangen, inwiefern durch die beiden Tageszeitungen WELT und taz die gleichen Bildungsthemen als divergierende Bildungsnachrichten konstruiert und den jeweiligen Rezipienten in der Folge unterschiedliche Wirklichkeiten suggeriert werden. Als theoretisches Fundament für den Vergleich der journalistisch kreierten Wirklichkeiten fungieren hierbei konstruktivistische Überlegungen. Der Forschungsstand hinsichtlich konstruktivistischer Überlegungen im Bereich der Medien kann als relativ umfangreich bezeichnet werden. So existieren zahlreiche Arbeiten von verschiedenen Autoren in denen theoretische Gedanken zum Medienkonstruktivismus formuliert wurden, so bspw. durch: Stefan Weber (1995), Niklas Luhmann (1996), Siegfried J. Schmidt (1996), Armin Scholl (2002) oder Bernhard Pörksen (2006). Entsprechende empirisch geleitete Ansätze, bzw. Arbeiten, in denen theoretische Überlegungen auf empirischem Material basieren, wurden bspw. von Winfried Schulz (1976), Stefan Frerichs (2000), Michael Beuthner et. al. (2003) oder W. Lance Bennett et al. (2008) vorgelegt. In Bezug auf das Auswerteverfahren der dokumentarischen Methode kann konstatiert werden, dass diese bereits zur Interpretation von Gruppendiskussionen (vgl. Loos/Schäffer 2001; Przyborski 2004), Bildern (vgl. Bohnsack 2008) und teilnehmenden Beobachtungen (vgl. Vogd 2004) herangezogen wurde, sowie ferner auch bei der Rekonstruktion von interviewbasierenden Gesprächstranskripten zur Anwendung kommt (vgl. Nohl 2005 u. 2009). Durch einige Arbeiten aus den letzten Jahren wurde das Spektrum der dokumentarischen Methode zusätzlich erweitert, indem sie auf den Untersuchungsgegenstand der Printmedien angewendet wurde (vgl. Bittner 2008; Schmidt 2008). Anknüpfend an dieses Vorgehen soll die vorliegende Arbeit einen weiteren Beitrag zur Anwendung der dokumentarischen Methode im Bereich der Printmedien leisten.
