Nehmen sie eine besondere Rolle für die Sozialisation von Heranwachsenden an? Welche förderlichen oder nachteiligen Auswirkungen kann der Medienkonsum auf Jugendliche haben? Bevor diese Fragen beantwortet werden können, muss zunächst eine definitorische Basis geschaffen werden. Dazu wird der zentrale Begriff der Sozialisation bezugnehmend auf die Thesen nach Klaus Hurrelmann definiert. Darauf aufbauend soll Sozialisation im Wechselspiel zu den Medien näher betrachtet werden, weshalb auf „Mediensozialisation“, dessen Ansätze und Dimensionen eingegangen wird. Im Verhältnis dazu wird auch die „Medienkompetenz“ näher beleuchtet, um eine eindeutige Abgrenzung zu schaffen. Es wird geklärt, in welchem Verhältnis Medienkompetenz zur Mediensozialisation steht und wie diese definiert wird. Anschließend soll die Nutzung der modernen Medien anhand der JIM-Studie 2016 näher betrachtet werden, um ein aktuelles Bild der Medienlandschaft zu schaffen. Schließlich wird das Online-Netzwerk Instagram als wichtiges Medienangebot der heutigen Zeit vorgestellt und näher beleuchtet. Abschließend werden sowohl Vor- als auch Nachteile der App in den Vordergrund gestellt, um ein differenziertes Bild der App als Sozialisationsinstanz für Jugendliche schaffen zu können.

In vielen Literaturen werden Medien als Sozialisationsinstanz bezeichnet, daher kam die Frage auf, inwiefern die Medien einen Einfluss auf die Identitätsbildung Jugendlicher haben und welche Chancen und Risiken dies umfasst. Zunächst wird kurz auf die Plattform Instagram eingegangen. Daraufhin erfolgen die Definitionen der Begriffe Soziale und Personale Identität und im Anschluss werden die Ideen zur Identitätsbildung von Glass und Keupp bündig erläutert. Der nächste Abschnitt der Identitätsbildung mit Medien unterteilt sich in drei Unterpunkte: Chancen, Risiken und die pädagogische Relevanz. Zum Schluss werden alle Ergebnisse bündig und mit Integration einer Schlussfolgerung zusammengefasst. Jeder kennt es – egal wo man ist, die meisten Jugendlichen sind ständig am Handy. Medien sind ein fester Bestandteil im Alltag der Jugendlichen geworden und nur noch schwer wegzudenken. Im Gegenteil: Medien werden als selbstverständlich angesehen. Diese bieten ein vielfältiges Angebot an – über Unterhaltung, Kommunikation, Informationssuche bis hin zu Wissenstransfer.

Zu Beginn dieser Forschungsarbeit wird sich dem Ausdruck "Vorbilder" gewidmet werden. Hierbei wird sich auch dem Stand der Forschung zum Thema Jugendliche und mediale Vorbilder zugewendet. Nach Klärung des Begriffs ist es notwendig, die Bedeutung von Vorbildern herauszustellen und zu benennen. Da sich die Bedeutung von Vorbildern mit der Lebensphase des Individuums ändert, muss sich dafür gemäß dem Forschungsinteresse dezidiert mit dem Abschnitt der Jugend beschäftigt werden. Da sich in dieser Forschung explizit mit medialen Vorbildern auseinandergesetzt werden soll, muss die Identitätsentwicklung von Jugendlichen durch Unterstützung von Vorbildern anschließend in einen medialen Rahmen gebracht werden. Dabei wird sich der Mediennutzung von Jugendlichen gewidmet. In diesem Zusammenhang wird näher auf die App Instagram eingegangen, die den medialen Rahmen der Forschungsarbeit darstellt. Nachdem der theoretische Rahmen alle wichtigen Begriffe, Theorien und Erklärungen abgedeckt hat, besteht der nächste Schritt darin, zum methodischen Teil der Arbeit überzuleiten. Beim methodischen Vorgehen wird das Forschungsdesign dieser Arbeit dargelegt: Die Auswahl der Forschungsart und der Forschungsmethode werden beschrieben und begründet. Da in dieser Forschungsarbeit Leitfadeninterviews geführt werden sollen, wird der Leitfaden erklärt und knapp vorgestellt. Außerdem wird die Auswertungsmethode beschrieben. Anschließend wird sich der Durchführung der Forschungsmethode gewidmet und final werden die gewonnenen Ergebnisse dargestellt. Außerdem muss theoretisch in die Sozialisation des Geschlechts eingeführt werden, da die sozialen Netzwerke auf diesen Aspekt einen entscheidenden Einfluss haben. Im Anschluss wird dann untersucht, was Instagram als soziales Netzwerk auszeichnet, um im nächsten Schritt detaillierter auf die InfluencerInnen einzugehen. Dazu muss zuerst dargestellt werden, wer sich als InfluencerIn bezeichnen kann und worin ihre Internetpräsenz motiviert ist. Anschließend soll betrachtet werden, worin die sozialisierende Funktion von InfluencerInnen besteht, ob die Sozialisation bewusst geschieht und wieso der sozialisierende Einfluss so hoch ist.
