Da ich auch in meiner Freizeit regelmäßig mit dem Bewegungsverhalten von Vor- und Grundschulkindern in Berührung komme, ist mir schon seit einiger Zeit aufgefallen, dass die Kinder über sehr unterschiedliche motorische Kompetenzen verfügen. Durch diese Erfahrungen habe ich angefangen, mich stärker mit dem Thema „Bewegungserziehung“ zu beschäftigen. Bei vielen Erwachsenen ist immer noch die Vorstellung des „idealen“ Schülers präsent, der rezeptiv, aufmerksam und eher motorisch passiv dem kognitiv vermittelten Stoff zugewandt ist. Als eine Begründung für mehr Bewegung in der Schule kann man zunächst „das Anliegen der Gesundheitsförderung mit präventiven und kompensatorischen Aspekten, mit Maßnahmen der Verhältnis- und der Verhaltensprävention“ sehen. „Im Mittelpunkt des Interesses und der Erwartungen von Eltern und Lehrern steht jedoch vielfach die Förderung der Lern- und Leistungsfähigkeit und des Schulerfolgs der Kinder“ . Bewegung trägt zu einem immerwährenden Wechsel von Dynamik und Statik bei. Einige empirische Studien (Breithecker 1998, Dordel 2000, Gröbert, Kleine & Podlich 2002, Kahl 1993, Müller 2000) weisen auf vielfältige positive Effekte von Bewegung auf Leistungsfähigkeit hin. Der Schwerpunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit ist auf die Klärung der folgenden Fragen gerichtet: Wie bekannt sind die einzelnen Konzeptionen der Bewegungserziehung? Wie werden diese im Unterrichtsalltag umgesetzt? Wie wirkt sich die Arbeit damit auf die Schüler aus?

Here Leslie Kurke analyzes the ideological functions of Greek coinage as one of a number of symbolic practices that arise for the first time in the archaic period. By linking the imagery of metals and coinage to stories about oracles, prostitutes, Eastern tyrants, counterfeiting, retail trade, and games, she traces the rising egalitarian ideology of the polis, as well as the ongoing resistance of an elitist tradition to that development. The argument thus aims to contribute to a Greek "history of ideologies," to chart the ways ideological contestation works through concrete discourses and practices long before the emergence of explicit political theory. To an elitist sensibility, the use of almost pure silver stamped with the state's emblem was a suspicious alternative to the para-political order of gift exchange. It ultimately represented the undesirable encroachment of the public sphere of the egalitarian polis. Kurke re-creates a "language of metals" by analyzing the stories and practices associated with coinage in texts ranging from Herodotus and archaic poetry to Aristotle and Attic inscriptions. She shows that a wide variety of imagery and terms fall into two opposing symbolic domains: the city, representing egalitarian order, and the elite symposium, a kind of anti-city. Exploring the tensions between these domains, Kurke excavates a neglected portion of the Greek cultural "imaginary" in all its specificity and strangeness.

This experimental study examined the effects of coach verbal aggression on athlete motivation and perceptions of coach credibility. Results revealed that athletes exposed to a verbally aggressive coach were significantly less motivated and perceived the coach as less credible than athletes who were exposed to a coach who used an affirming style. With respect to credibility, athletes perceived a verbally aggressive coach as significantly less competent, trustworthy, and caring than a coach who used an affirming style. Implications and areas for future research are discussed. Case-study questions are presented for discussion by scholars and students.
