Book excerpt: As Unified High Priest, Khalid al-Kabul and his UNIFY church gain worldwide acclaim and draw millions to their ranks, Christians fear the emergence of a one-world religion. Krista Coblentz teams with Detective Darnell Simpson, a backslidden Christian, after police discover Krista's best friend savagely murdered and dismembered. Krista's relationship with Simpson disintegrates after she accepts an invitation to one of Khalid's demonic services promoting his perfect one-world church. Meanwhile, in Tennessee, retired Pentecostal minister Walter Caldwell hears from God that it's time to take the message of repentance to the streets, and God wants Caldwell to lead the effort. Could UNIFY truly be the apostasy and the emergence of a one-world religion foretold in the Bible Christians believe it is merely a counterfeit forged by Satan himself that shall lead even the elect astray? Or could it be the perfect church the Bible predicts, rising up out of the darkness, delivering a new world peace by fusing Christians and Muslims together as one? Ms. Leahz masterfully weaves this end-times thriller with excitement, murder, intrigue, romance and mystery. This fast-paced prophetic classic will leave you breathless and eagerly awaiting the second book in Ms. Leahz's trilogy. Endorsements: “What most Christians forget is that the main purpose of God’s plan for us is to fight and expose evil. Lyn Leahz in her fiction Soul Deceiver writes an amazing tale and embeds the necessary biblical truth to help us see the quagmire of delusion, deception and apostasy that engulf the church today. The gripping story sifts out the words of a sweet-talking devil that wants to unify Christianity with Islam attempting to seduce us with flattery. The story tells how the prudent spirit-filled Christian can stand firm against the works of darkness. “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do [exploits].” (Dan 11:32) –Walid Shoebat, International Speaker and Best Selling Author of God’s War on Terror: Islam, Prophecy and the Bible. Shoebat Foundation “Lyn Leahz is a gifted and brilliant author. This fictional thriller is truly a page-turner that will enthrall you from the first to the last word. A highly recommended read!” —Joel Richardson, Best Selling Author of Islamic Antichrist and Mideast Beast. Joel’s Trumpet Online “All one needs to do is watch the daily news, or read a newspaper, and compare those words to the Books of Daniel, Ezekiel, or Revelation, to understand the times in which we live. Lyn Leahz does a great job in her book, Soul Deceiver, pulling you into the lives of her characters, to allow you to experience the scenarios of end time prophecy. If you are a lover of end times eschatology, then Soul Deceiver is a must read.” –Tim R. Philley, Executive Vice President & Chief Operations Officer, Oral Roberts University ”It is with great pleasure I recommend Soul Deceiver. Lyn Leahz is a gifted writer, and a remarkable Christian. Through much prayer and creativity, she has written a captivating and timely book about the end times. You will not be disappointed with this page-turner, guaranteed to keep you absorbed for hours! Book excerpt: Revised & Updated Edition! God is love. Crazy, relentless, all-powerful love. Have you ever wondered if we're missing it? It's crazy, if you think about it. The God of the universe—the Creator of nitrogen and pine needles, galaxies and E-minor—loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss. Whether you've verbalized it yet or not, we all know something's wrong. Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo? Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions? God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn't working harder at a list of do's and don'ts—it's falling in love with God. And once you encounter His love, as Francis describes it, you will never be the same. Because when you're wildly in love with someone, it changes everything. Book excerpt: This teaching manual is to enable you to understand the tactics of the devil and defeat him every time.Satan is a consistent agitator, instigator, liar, and deceiver, his future is non negotiable, and he has nothing to lose, so it is imperative that the saints of God step up to their warfare tactics. Satan is not all powerful, and he is no match for God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; so he seeks after Gods children, but when we walk in who we are in Christ and the whole armor of God, then he is no match for us either. Satan desires to sift us as wheat; desire and reality can be two different things and does not imply "realistic" or probable.

How do you know if what you desire will satisfy, or if you are seeing a "desire mirage"? The global village presents countless ways to connect to all kinds of information. We think we can scarcely live without these connections. Do we realize, however, that these connections often block or slow down connections to God, self, and others? Divided Desire is a journey along the road of desire--a road everyone travels. Along the journey, Kenny Damara explores why we desire what we desire in the global village today. What role does God have in fulfilling the ultimate desire of the heart? And how should we respond?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You'll Learn from Jacob, Who Moved from Manipulation to Trust in God. Jacob is a troubling character in the Old Testament. He is conniving and he is spiritual too. He has moments of strong faith as well as of fear. His family is sometimes in disarray, and yet at the end he is the one who sets it straight. Jacob the Patriarch is a bit too much like us -- with very human strengths and weaknesses, but a man with a striving for spiritual things. From this imperfect man we learn important lessons of faith. especially, about God's grace. The events described in Jacob's story comprise most of Genesis chapters 25-49. If you haven't read the Old Testament much, you'll be pleased to find that God will speak to you here -- loud and clear. Each of the seven detailed lessons include probing discussion questions and can be used for personal enrichment, by small groups and classes, and by teachers and preachers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Demonic Desires, Ishay Rosen-Zvi examines the concept of yetzer hara, or evil inclination, and its evolution in biblical and rabbinic literature. Contrary to existing scholarship, which reads the term under the rubric of destructive sexual desire, Rosen-Zvi contends that in late antiquity the yetzer represents a general tendency toward evil. Rather than the lower bodily part of a human, the rabbinic yetzer is a wicked, sophisticated inciter, attempting to snare humans to sin. The rabbinic yetzer should therefore not be read in the tradition of the Hellenistic quest for control over the lower parts of the psyche, writes Rosen-Zvi, but rather in the tradition of ancient Jewish and Christian demonology. Rosen-Zvi conducts a systematic and comprehensive analysis of the some one hundred and fifty appearances of the evil yetzer in classical rabbinic literature to explore the biblical and postbiblical search for the sources of human sinfulness. By examining the yetzer within a specific demonological tradition, Demonic Desires places the yetzer discourse in the larger context of a move toward psychologization in late antiquity, in which evil—and even demons—became internalized within the human psyche. The book discusses various manifestations of this move in patristic and monastic material, from Clement and Origin to Antony, Athanasius, and Evagrius. It concludes with a consideration of the broader implications of the yetzer discourse in rabbinic anthropology.

Book excerpt: Kristen Simmons, the author of the Article 5 series and Metaltown, brings her remarkable imagination to this intrigue-filled contemporary drama where good kids are needed to do some very bad things in The Deceivers. Welcome to Vale Hall, the school for aspiring con artists. When Brynn Hilder is recruited to Vale, it seems like the elite academy is her chance to start over, away from her mom’s loser boyfriend and her rundown neighborhood. But she soon learns that Vale chooses students not so much for their scholastic talent as for their extracurricular activities, such as her time spent conning rich North Shore kids out of their extravagant allowances. At first, Brynn jumps at the chance to help the school in its mission to rid the city of corrupt officials—because what could be better than giving entitled jerks what they deserve? But that’s before she meets her mark—a senator’s son—and before she discovers the school’s headmaster has secrets he’ll stop at nothing to protect. As the lines between right and wrong blur, Brynn begins to realize she’s in way over head. Book excerpt: The fifty-seven original essays in this book provide a comprehensive overview of the interdisciplinary field of animal cognition. The contributors include cognitive ethologists, behavioral ecologists, experimental and developmental psychologists, behaviorists, philosophers, neuroscientists, computer scientists and modelers, field biologists, and others. The diversity of approaches is both philosophical and methodological, with contributors demonstrating various degrees of acceptance or disdain for such terms as "consciousness" and varying degrees of concern for laboratory experimentation versus naturalistic research. In addition to primates, particularly the nonhuman great apes, the animals discussed include antelopes, bees, dogs, dolphins, earthworms, fish, hyenas, parrots, prairie dogs, rats, ravens, sea lions, snakes, spiders, and squirrels. The topics include (but are not limited to) definitions of cognition, the role of anecdotes in the study of animal cognition, anthropomorphism, attention, perception, learning, memory, thinking, consciousness, intentionality, communication, planning, play, aggression, dominance, predation, recognition, assessment of self and others, social knowledge, empathy, conflict resolution, reproduction, parent-young interactions and caregiving, ecology, evolution, kin selection, and neuroethology.
