Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ryszard Legutko lived and suffered under communism for decades—and he fought with the Polish anti-communist movement to abolish it. Having lived for two decades under a liberal democracy, however, he has discovered that these two political systems have a lot more in common than one might think. They both stem from the same historical roots in early modernity, and accept similar presuppositions about history, society, religion, politics, culture, and human nature. In The Demon in Democracy, Legutko explores the shared objectives between these two political systems, and explains how liberal democracy has over time lurched towards the same goals as communism, albeit without Soviet style brutality. Both systems, says Legutko, reduce human nature to that of the common man, who is led to believe himself liberated from the obligations of the past. Both the communist man and the liberal democratic man refuse to admit that there exists anything of value outside the political systems to which they pledged their loyalty. And both systems refuse to undertake any critical examination of their ideological prejudices.

Renowned Buddhist leader Tsultrim Allione explains that the harder we fight our demons, the stronger they become. Offering Eastern answers to Western needs, Tsultrim seamlessly weaves traditions from Tibet and the Western world to offer a new and unique answer to the problems that plague us: that rather than attempt to purge them, we need to reverse our approach and nurture our demons. This powerful five-step practice forms a strategy for transforming negative emotions, relationships, fears, illness and self-defeating patterns. This will help you cope with the inner enemies that undermine our best intentions.

This book was released on 2016-01-20 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the subtitle says, the book is a critique of denominational church doctrines. It is an objective writing as I, the author, have made every attempt to keep personal biases and subjective thinking out of the writing. It deals with denominational churches as to what's right in their doctrines and what's wrong. As mentioned, 100% of all church doctrines do not line up with the scriptures. Some churches come close, but no cigar. Others are so far out that I cannot fathom why they are called Christian Churches. The book discusses a host of contemporary topics which the Bible mentions in detail. In addition to man-made traditions of all the churches, the book tackles taboo topics in the church world such as abortion, alcoholism, smoking, drugs, gambling, homosexuality, infant baptism, Jehovah\'s Witnesses, Mormons, Islam, Agnosticism, Atheism, Women in the Church, Divorce, Interfaith Services, The Tribulation, Tithing, 666, Welfare, Social Security Disability and paid salaries for the clergy. The book has mostly scriptural references but some non-scriptural references too. All statements are supported with a Biblical verse(s) or occasionally, with an article or a personal reference. The Biblical references are from the King James Version, the New International Version, or sometimes paraphrased. The book flows easily as I used $1.98 words rather than $100.00 words. It is written so that the average 12 year old will understand it. Although I mention particular denominations, I never mention the names of churches or the names of people who were involved in the various scenes of the book. The book is an educational and enlightening tool for pastors' sermons, Bible studies, and Sunday School Classes. The book's one endeavor is to reveal the truth about Christianity. I don't understand why someone else didn't write this book decades ago. This book reveals to the readers that their churches and church leaders are not what they claim to be. In the book, there are some interesting and humorous anecdotes about situations which help to get a point across. They are lessons learned. This book is meant for Christian readers as well as non-believers and for those who are on the fence. This book will cause one to think and perhaps, reevaluate his or her position on God, salvation, and what is next after he or she departs this world.

Book excerpt: Since his late teens, Louis Proud has suffered from chronic sleep paralysis and has undergone hundreds of such episodes, many of them terrifying but ultimately transformational and eye-opening. These experiences, he believes, allow access to the "spirit realm" and could well hold the key to a whole host of paranormal phenomena, including poltergeist disturbances, out-of-body-experiences, mediumship, spirit possession, and succubi and incubi encounters. Drawing on the work of Colin Wilson, Joe Fisher, Stan Gooch, Whitley Strieber, Robert Monroe, Dion Fortune, and a number of other paranormal experts, Proud lucidly demonstrates that many sleep paralysis experiences involve genuine contact and communication with incorporeal entities, some of them parasitic and potentially dangerous. In this comprehensive, open-minded exploration of the sleep paralysis phenomenon, filled with fascinating descriptions of his own experiences, as well as those of others, no stone is left unturned as Proud attempts to get to the bottom of the mystery.

While building a utopia much like The Republic does, Augustine uses sound theology to build the foundations of the cities morals and lawful authority. Many theologies, especially within the Catholic tradition, owe their beginnings to the teachings of Augustine and this work is one of the starts of the field. Book excerpt: The City of God is a book of Christian philosophy written in Latin by Augustine of Hippo in the early 5th century AD. The book was in response to allegations that Christianity brought about the decline of Rome and is considered one of Augustine's most important works. Augustine wrote The City of God as an argument for the truth of Christianity over competing religions and philosophies. He argues that Christianity was not responsible for the Sack of Rome, but instead responsible for its success. Even if the earthly rule of the Empire was imperiled, it was the City of God that would ultimately triumph. As a work of one of the most influential Church Fathers, The City of God is a cornerstone of Western thought, expounding on many profound questions of theology, such as the suffering of the righteous, the existence of evil, the conflict between free will and divine omniscience, and the doctrine of original sin.

Book excerpt: Read Journey to Freedom with expectant faith. Jesus is the answer to all life's questions and problems. Twenty-first century testimonies are shared by captives Jesus has set free. If you are in bondage to sin, seeking the truth, or struggling to walk with Jesus as Lord, read on. Jesus will work with you as you read and surrender to his plan for your life. If you are called to help others through the ministry of deliverance, Journey to Freedom is a must read for you. Pastors can learn insights on caring for ones in their flocks who are held in bondage to the enemy. In Journey to Freedom Dick Luchtenberg shares how the Lord has worked through him for over 30 years to set captives free. Dick Luchtenberg is a retired designer and builder of custom homes. Dick and his wife, Patty, are simply a Christian couple sold out to God. Their spiritual journey has covered over half a century. They have eight children, all of whom are happily married. Twenty grandchildren continue to be a blessing. In their retirement years, by the grace of God, the Lord is using Dick and Patty now more than ever. Captives are regularly being set free through the deliverance ministry of Jesus Christ.
