Book excerpt: Originally appearing as a back up stories in issues 19-21 of the original Deadworld series, this compiles all of the stories into a single collection that leads into the 'To Kill A King' mini-series. There is a mysterious man that has embraced the new world where the dead walk the Earth. In fact, he seems to relish it and hunts down the zombies for sport with a single minded purpose. But when he comes up against King Zombie and his grakken demon creatures, he finds out that perhaps man is no longer superior to the dead in this supernatural holocaust world. Also included in this issue is the Deadworld short story "Body of Art". Featuring art by Ron McCain (Batman, Adventures of Superman). Overview: A supernatural plague has been unleashed on the world. The dead return to walk the earth...but this is no standard zombie story. The dead are just soldiers for those who have crossed the Gateway. The lead zombies are intelligent, sadistic, and in addition to having a hankering for flesh, enjoy the tortuous ordeals they put the surviving humans through. Leader of the zombies is the chain-smoking, Harley riding, sarcastic being known as King Zombie. Killing humans is just a sideline to his cruel methods as he seeks to find a way to open the Gateway permanently and take over the earth. Deadworld is a horror comic that attacks the zombie menace from a different perspective. In addition to having intelligent zombies with a goal and mission, Deadworld is also exploring the human interactions as mankind finds itself facing extinction. While some groups organize in the best interests of self-preservation, others use this as an opportunity to explore their own self deluded dreams. Deadworld is a story of horror...of survival...of hope and despair. It is an ongoing saga of modern man facing his darkest sid...where science and technology are no longer his allies...where his power of reasoning is no longer his weapon alone. Deadworld is death, yet life.

Download or read book Deadworld: Bits and Pieces written by Gary Reed and published by Caliber Comics. This book was released on 2008-04-07 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A collection of short stories from the pages of Deadworld, one of the longest running zombie titles in the comics market. It is a world that has suffered a supernatural holocaust and the dead rise to walk again. Yet this world also has intelligent zombies, such as the Harley-riding, chain smoking King Zombie and they threaten to drive humankind into extinction. Included in this collection is the very first Deadworld story, "Black Sabbath". The classic tales illustrated by the artist known as "the Deadworld artist", Vince Locke, are presented as is the introduction to one of Deadworld's most popular characters, the Dead-Killer. In Deadworld, death is only the beginning of the horror and this action packed assemblage of tales set in this zombie infested world illustrates perfectly the dilemma the humans face, not only from the hordes of zombies but from other humans themselves. See why Tom Sniegoski, writer of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, calls Deadworld, "the best, in my humble opinion, of the zombie comics."
