Oktober 2012 aus der Süddeutschen Zeitung spiegelt das immer stärker werdende Problem des Phänomens „Cybermobbing“ wider. Bei dem jungen Mädchen Amanda Todd aus Kanada fing es harmlos an, indem sie in der 7. Klasse anfing im Internet zu chatten, um neue Leute kennenzulernen. Ahnungslos über mögliche Konsequenzen schickte sie ein Foto ihres nackten Oberkörpers an einen fremden Mann. Dieser verbreitete das Foto im Netz, woraufhin es auch an Amandas damalige Schule gelangte. Ihre Mitschüler fingen an sie zu mobben, schlugen sie und filmten die Szenen. „Ich kann das Foto nie zurückholen. Es wird immer irgendwo da draußen sein“, steht auf einem der Zettel in Amandas Video. Sie wechselte mehrmals die Schule, doch dem Mobbing im Netz konnte sie nicht entkommen.
