Book excerpt: Shielded and protected through his youth, 15-year-old Capo Premalvena is not prepared for a destiny with death-dealing evil. But when a love-scorned psychopath burns through the Dimensions in search of the Perfected Power of the Purity Philter, Capo discovers that the truth kept secret from his birth may thrust him to the center of a prophetic battle. To prepare, Capo is hurtled into the Sixth Dimension to another-world academy where the required swordplay tutorials serve as passage into moral lessons of friendship, betrayal, and second chances. In this realm, Capo learns thought can be as deadly as a deed; evil and purity can be paired into a surprising union; and choice is the point on which both the wicked and virtuous pivot.

Book excerpt: Once inseparable, my best friend and I were torn apart after a night of fiery passion—a memory forever etched in my mind, its details lost in a hazy fog. Now, Alex May is my bitter rival, his indifference cutting deeper than any blade. The looming national state championships intensify the stakes, fueling the fire of that unforgettable night. In the arena's dim light, tension crackles. Each stride, each thud of the puck, echoes unspoken words. The remnants of our once unbreakable bond intertwine with a burning desire for vindication. I yearn to reach out to Alex, hoping he'll give me a second chance. But his walls are high, his heart guarded. Will he ever forgive me for the mistakes of our past and allow love to mend our broken connection? Warning: this is a high-heat M/M hockey romance, filled with shenanigans, explicit language, and some violence. Please be advised.
Book Synopsis Structural Analysis of Composite Wind Turbine Blades by : Dimitris I Chortis
Download or read book Structural Analysis of Composite Wind Turbine Blades written by Dimitris I Chortis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book concerns the development of novel finite elements for the structural analysis of composite beams and blades. The introduction of material damping is also an important aspect of composite structures and it is presented here in terms of their static and dynamic behavior. The book thoroughly presents a new shear beam finite element, which entails new blade section mechanics, capable of predicting structural blade coupling due to composite coupling and/or internal section geometry. Theoretical background is further expanded towards the inclusion of nonlinear structural blade models and damping mechanics for composite structures. The models effectively include geometrically nonlinear terms due to large displacements and rotations, improve the modeling accuracy of very large flexible blades, and enable the modeling of rotational stiffening and buckling, as well as, nonlinear structural coupling. Validation simulations on specimen level study the geometric nonlinearities effect on the modal frequencies and damping values of composite strips of various angle-ply laminations under either tensile or buckling loading. A series of correlation cases between numerical predictions and experimental measurements give credence to the developed nonlinear beam finite element models and underline the essential role of new nonlinear damping and stiffness terms.

Book Synopsis Turbomachine Blade Vibration by : J. S. Rao
Download or read book Turbomachine Blade Vibration written by J. S. Rao and published by New Age International. This book was released on 1991 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fatigue Failures Of Blades Is One Of The Most Vexing Problems Of Turbomachine Manufacturers, Ever Since The Steam Turbine Became The Main Stay For Power Generating Equipment And Gas Turbines Are Increasingly Used In The Air Transport. The Problem Is Very Complex, Involving The Excitation Due To Aerodynamic Stage Interaction; Damping Due To Material Deformation, Friction At Slip Surfaces And Aerodynamic Damping; Vibration Of An Asymmetric Aerofoil Tapered Along Its Length And Mounted On A Rotating Disc At A Stagger Angle. The Problem Is Also Governed By Heat Transfer Analysis And Thermal Stresses. His Book Deals With A Basic Understanding Of Free Vibratory Behaviour Of Turbine Blades- Free Standing, Packetted, And Bladed-Discs. The Analysis Is Based On Continuous And Discrete Models Using Energy Principles And Finite Element Techniques. A Clear Understanding Of The Interference Phenomenon In A Thin Cambered Airfoil Stage In Subsonic Flow Is Presented To Determine The Nonsteady Excitation Forces Acting On The Blades. A Comprehensive Treatment On The Blade Damping Phenomenon That Occurs In Turbines Is Given. The Nonlinear Damping Models Account For Material Damping And Friction Damping As A Function Of Rotational Speed For Each Mode. Resonant Response Calculation Procedures For The Steadily Running As Well As Accelerating Blades Are Given.Cumulative Damage Calculations Are Then Outlined For Fatigue Life Estimation Of Turbomachine Blades. The Book Also Deals With Heat Transfer Analysis And Thermal Stress Calculations Which Help In A Comprehensive Understanding Of The Blade Problems.
