Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a current state of the art in analysis and modeling of creep phenomena with applications to the structural mechanics. It presents the some presentations from the IUTAM-Symposium series "Creep in Structures", which held in Magdeburg (Germany) in September 2023, and it discusses many advances and new results in the field. These are for example: interlinks of mechanics with materials science in multi-scale analysis of deformation and damage mechanisms over a wide range of stresses and temperature; development and analysis of new alloys for (ultra)high-temperature applications; formulation and calibration of advanced constitutive models of inelastic behavior under transient loading and temperature conditions; development of efficient procedures and machine learning techniques for identification of material parameters in advanced constitutive laws; introduction of gradient-enhanced and non-local theories to account for damage and fracture processes; and application of new experimental methods, such as digital image correlation, for the analysis of inelastic deformation under multi-axial stress state.

Book Synopsis Creep and Shrinkage by : Hubert Rüsch
Download or read book Creep and Shrinkage written by Hubert Rüsch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based on Reinforced Concrete-Prestressed Concrete, Volume 2, Accounting for the Effects of Creep and Shrinkage on the Behavior of Structural Systems by Hubert Rusch and Dieter Jungwirth, which appeared in German in 1976. Even then, it was Hubert Rusch's fervent wish to have his thoughts on the deformations of concrete translated into English in order to reach a wider audience. His earlier efforts to contribute a study to the Series of Monographs of the Ameri can Institute had unfortunately not succeeded. Despite a serious illness, Hubert Rusch undertook, with his characteristic prudence and thoroughness, the preparatory work for the translation and related revision of his book. Unfortunately fate did not grant him the satisfaction of seeing his work completed. Hubert Rusch died on October 17, 1979. In writing this book, Hubert Rusch drew on his many years of devoted study of the creep problem. These investigations go back to 1934. His awareness of the plastic deformation of concrete under sustained load, which had been reported to him on the occasion of an American sojourn, led him to discover the causes of a major building collapse. At his urging, Professor A. Hummel published, in 1935, a critical survey of the test results then available on concrete creep.

This book was released on 2023-11-14 with total page 1172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New engineering materials, techniques and applications are constantly being researched and developed, and keeping up to speed with the latest advances is crucial for engineers if they are to successfully address the challenges they face in their work. This book presents the selected proceedings of MMSE2023, the 9th International Conference on Advances in Machinery, Materials Science and Engineering Applications, jointly organized by the SAE-Supmeca, France and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and held on 22 and 23 July 2023 in Wuhan, China. For the past 12 years, this annual conference has collated recent advances and experiences, identified emerging trends and provided a platform for participants from academia and industry to exchange information and views, helping to address the world’s machinery and engineering challenges. The book contains 4 sections: mechanical engineering, material science and manufacturing technology; electrical engineering, automation and control; modeling, simulation and optimization techniques in engineering; and advanced engineering technologies and applications. A total of 241 submissions were received for MMSE2023, of which 151 papers were selected for the conference and for publication by means of a rigorous international peer-review process. These papers present exciting ideas and methods that will open novel research directions for different communities. Offering a current overview of the latest research and applications in machinery and materials-science engineering, the book will be of interest to all those working in the field.

Book Synopsis Viscoelasticity — Basic Theory and Applications to Concrete Structures by : Guillermo J. Creus
Download or read book Viscoelasticity — Basic Theory and Applications to Concrete Structures written by Guillermo J. Creus and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains notes for a one-semester graduate course which is an introduction to the study of viscoelasticity and creep of concrete. Emphasis was set on the conceptual aspects rather than on the mathematical or computational refinements. The mathematical structure of viscoelasticity is discussed with some care because it clarifies the basic concepts and has important consequences in computa tional applications. Basic ideas are exemplified using the simplest problems and constitutive models in order to be able to show complete solutions. In the computational applications we have also chosen to present the sim plest situations with the greatest possible detail. It has been the author's experience that once the basic concepts are well understood the students are able to follow the rest of the course more easily and to accede to more advanced literature and applications. Chapters I to III furnish the foundations for the course, that may be expanded in diverse ways. If we are interested in finite elements applications we should look at Chapter IV and then go direct ly to Chapter VII. If we are interested in the simplified analysis of frame structures we should study Chapter VI in detail. Chapter V re views the viscoelastic behavior of concrete and Chapter VIII studies the problem of creep buckling. At the end of each chapter we give se lected references to works that complete and extend the subject matter.
