The idea that transpired was to pull perspectives from a slew of knowledgeable and Godly men and hopefully spark an interest inside the young men and women that could carry over to their adult lives. Hearing from some of those individuals and having them speak about life, the Word of God, conceptual illustrations, and sharing theories and insights, J. believes that in pooling the combination of thoughts together, it will do nothing short of "knocking it out of the park." From that point, he set out to get answers, to record the questions that kids have (simple and complex, about whatever pricked their interests), and put them in front of individuals who were willing to share their hearts and minds with us. The prayer is that you, as the reader, will love it! Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. (Proverbs 15:22) How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver! (Proverbs 16:16)

Book excerpt: Eusebius praises the pastoral fidelity of the primitive pastors, in their unwearied labours to protect their flocks from the heresies with which Satan contrived to endanger the souls of believers. By exhortations and admonitions, and then again by oral discussions and refutations, contending with the heretics themselves, they were prompt to ward off the devouring beasts from the fold of Christ. Such is the praise due to Theophilus, in his opinion; and he cites especially his lost work against Marcion as "of no mean character." He was one of the earliest commentators upon the Gospels, if not the first; and he seems to have been the earliest Christian historian of the Church of the Old Testament. His only remaining work, here presented, seems to have originated in an "oral discussion," such as Eusebius instances. But nobody seems to accord him due praise as the founder of the science of Biblical Chronology among Christians, save that his great successor in modern times, Abp. Usher, has not forgotten to pay him this tribute in the Prolegomena of his Annals.

These memories, coupled with the experience of spiritual renewal in the early church, established Jesus as the definitive agent of God's new creation in the New Testament writings and the teachings of the Early Church. Following the logic that 'the end is like the beginning' Christ was taken to be the agent of primal creation. This insight was developed in light of Old Testament creation texts, viewed from within a 'messianic matrix' of interpretation. McDonough carefully substantiates his thesis through a detailed exegesis of the relevant New Testament texts in the context of related texts in Judaism and Greco-Roman philosophy.
