Book Synopsis Journey Through the Workbook of A Course in Miracles by : Kenneth Wapnick
Download or read book Journey Through the Workbook of A Course in Miracles written by Kenneth Wapnick and published by Foundation for a Course in Miracles. This book was released on 2005 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This eight-volume set is the end product of a series of classes I conducted at our Foundation's former location in New York. The classes consisted of a line-by-line analysis of the lessons, introductions, reviews, summaries, and the Epilogue. I have considerably enlarged some of the original discussion, supplying additional references to other relevant portions of the Course, the Preface, the two pamphlets, poems from The Gifts of God, and the prose poem "The Gifts of God." This work can thus be seen as a complete Course companion to accompany students on their own journey through the workbook. My purpose in presenting the classes originally, as it remains in this book, was to help students better understand the meaning of the lessons and their place in the curriculum of A Course in Miracles, and most of all, to help students see the importance of applying the daily lessons to their everyday lives. Without such application, the brilliance of Jesus' words is wasted, and they become simply a sterile system of intellectual teachings. This book can be read in at least three ways: 1) straight through, as one would do with the text; 2) different lessons at different times; or 3) one lesson at a time, as a companion to each lesson. I would urge students, however, if they are doing the workbook for the first time, to read the lessons as they are, without my commentary. In other words, as with all my other work on A Course in Miracles, this book is meant to supplement a student's experience of the workbook, not to substitute for the workbook as it was given to us.(Adapted from the Preface)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Features of the book include: Homework exercises adapted from a wide range of actual arguments from newspapers, philosophical texts, literature, movies, YouTube videos, and other sources.Practical advice to help students succeed when applying the Rulebook's rules.Suggestions for further practice that outline activities students can do by themselves or with classmates to improve their critical thinking skills.Detailed instructions for in-class activities and take-home assignments designed to engage students in critical thinking. An appendix on mapping arguments, a topic not included in the Rulebook, that introduces students to this vital skill in evaluating or constructing complex and multi-step arguments.Model responses to odd-numbered exercises, including commentaries on the strengths and weaknesses of selected model responses as well as further discussion of some of the substantive intellectual, philosophical, and ethical issues raised by the exercises. The third edition of Workbook contains the entire text of the recent fifth edition of the Rulebook, supplementing this core text with extensive further explanations and exercises. Updated and improved homework exercises ensure that the examples continue to resonate with today’s students. Roughly one-third of the exercises have been replaced with updated or improved examples. A new chapter on engaging constructively in public debates—including five new sets of exercises—trains students to engage respectfully and constructively on controversial topics, an increasingly important skill in our hyper-partisan age. Three new critical thinking activities offer further opportunities to practice constructive dialogue.
Book Synopsis The Freedom Factor by : Bruce Wilkinson
Download or read book The Freedom Factor written by Bruce Wilkinson and published by Monarch Books. This book was released on 2017-02-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God made your heart for love, joy, peace, and wholeness. But pastors say that more than 90% of their congregations struggle with unforgiveness - and unforgiveness can make us forget what we were made for. What if the most pervasive sin of our day is invisible, hidden deep inside our hearts? What if it affects every aspect of our lives and relationships so quietly and insidiously that most of us miss it altogether? Bruce Wilkinson believes unforgiveness is that sin. Through the teachings of Jesus, The Freedom Factor reveals the link between our suffering and our unforgiveness. But it also shows how to forgive - for real and forever. The story doesn't have to end with the pain of our wounds. Whatever happened to us happened. But the God who made your heart has shown a way past the wounds, back to the life and love that we were made for - a path toward freedom.

Book Synopsis The Food and Feelings Workbook by : Karen Koenig
Download or read book The Food and Feelings Workbook written by Karen Koenig and published by ReadHowYouWant.com. This book was released on 2011-02-02 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An extraordinary, powerful connection exists between feeling and feeding that, if damaged, may lead to one relying on food for emotional support, rather than seeking authentic happiness. This unique workbook takes on the seven emotions that plague problem eaters - guilt, shame, helplessness, anxiety, disappointment, confusion, and loneliness - and shows readers how to embrace and learn from their feelings. Written with honesty and humor, the book explains how to identify and label a specific emotion, the function of that emotion, and why the emotion drives food and eating problems. Each chapter has two sets of exercises: experiential exercises that relate to emotions and eating, and questionnaires that provoke thinking about and understanding feelings and their purpose. Supplemental pages help readers identify emotions and chart emotional development. The final part of the workbook focuses on strategies for disconnecting feeling from food, discovering emotional triggers, and using one, s feelings to get what one wants out of life.
