With works spanning the last two decades, the myriad of emotions, through which you will be taken, will surely give rise to something inside each of you. Whether you are the hopeless romantic whose heart weeps daily for that which you may never have, or if you are the jaded and jilted lover whose heart has been shattered into countless pieces, or even if you are just the broken down pile of flesh and bones we all succumb to being eventually, you will relate to something inside. If but one of my words can inspire change in a lone individual then I know my life has meaning.

In A Kitchen in the Corner of the House, Ambai's narrators are daring and courageous, stretching and reinventing their homes, marriages, and worlds. With each story, her expansive voice confronts the construction of gender in Tamil literature. Her transfixing stories often meditate on motherhood, sexuality, and the liberating, and at times inhibiting, contours of the body.

I began writing at the age of thirteen, and before long I developed a love for it. At this time I am working for a local hospital as a unit secretary. I also enjoy writing and composing songs, and have recorded some of them. I enjoy singing to our patients and my co-workers. I have had eight nervous breakdowns, and have miraculously survived them all. I have written this book in order to share my experiences with others who are also suffering from mental illness in order to show them that there is a way out. And the way out is through Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God.
Download or read book Exploring the Self written by Dan Zahavi and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2000-10-15 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this volume is to discuss recent research into self-experience and its disorders, and to contribute to a better integration of the different empirical and conceptual perspectives. Among the topics discussed are questions like ‘What is a self?,’ ‘What is the relation between the self-givenness of consciousness and the givenness of the conscious self?’,‘How should we understand the self-disorders encountered in schizophrenia?’ and ‘What general insights into the nature of the self can pathological phenomena provide us with?’ Most of the contributions are characterized by a distinct phenomenological approach. The chapters by Butterworth, Strawson, Zahavi, and Marbach are general in nature and address different psychological and philosophical aspects of what it means to be a self. Next Eilan, Parnas, and Sass turn to schizophrenia and ask both how we should approach and understand this disorder, and, more specifically, what we can learn about the nature of selfhood and existence from psychopathology. The chapters by Blakemore and Gallagher present a defense and a criticism of the so-called model of self-monitoring, respectively. The final three chapters by Cutting, Stanghellini, Schwartz and Wiggins represent anthropologically oriented attempts to situate pathologies of self-experience. (Series B)

Book excerpt: A noir and sensual page-turner that cracks open the Mafia’s secret world through the stories of four lives Palermo in the 1980s is a perfect place for a young crime reporter to get his start. The Sicilian Mafia is at work, threatening, wounding, and killing anyone who dares to defy their orders. Our protagonist is himself no angel, hardly compassionate, a bit macho and egocentric, but candid in his recounting of what has unfolded in front of his eyes both on the job and in his private life. Di Piazza, who is also a Sicilian journalist, tells his stories as if he were reporting actual events. His description of the tense bravado of a youth growing up in the midst of Mafia terror is strikingly acute.

Book Synopsis From the Fabric of My Mind by : Thomas Fullmer
Download or read book From the Fabric of My Mind written by Thomas Fullmer and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “From the Fabric of My Mind” is a book of poetry which reflects my life’s experience. The poems reflect a journey to inner awareness and self-actualization. The poems reflect observations of the world around me, and the people who have touched my life. One of those people is my dear wife, Barbara Ann, who passed away this past September due to complications brought on by a debilitating disease. She fought to stay with us, but in the end her liver failure took her life. This has left a hole in my heart which can never be filled. The pain she endured was beyond anything I could imagine, but some of poetry might come close. Overall, the poems in this book of poetry are an expression of my inner truth. They come from the Fabric of My Mind, as the title suggest, but they also come from the fabric of my heart and soul, the mind being the interface of heart, soul, and body. We think, but we also feel, and if we can feel deeply enough we come to know who we truly are. I am a widower, but I am also a father and grandfather who is trying to fill a space in my kid’s and grandkid’s hearts, now that their mother and grandmother is gone. In a way many of these poems reflect the love shared within the circle of my little family. I hope those who read can find a certain amount of wisdom and truth in what they read.
