Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many are the achievements of man over the course of human history. We have scaled the greatest heights of our planet and beyond, traveled to the deepest of depths, peered into the galaxy and looked with wonder and amazement into the microscopic and quantum realms. We have done all this "because it was there." But truly that has been our real quest all along, to discover just what "it" is. This is the question that lies at the essence of man, which all of us will ask ourselves - repeatedly - throughout life. Why am I here? What is my purpose in life? Does life, indeed, have any purpose or meaning whatsoever? At the core of which lies THE question, life's most fundamental question. Is life accident or design? Is there a Living G-d? In the modern world, we are told, no, brainwashed, in so many ways, that all one has to do is look at the sciences to come to the undisputed conclusion that the answer is "no." In this book, I will, with G-d's help, unravel the Creation to scrutinize life, the universe, and everything (without arriving at the number 42!) to give the reader all of the pertinent information to arrive at an informed conclusion concerning life's most fundamental question. (P.S. The answer's a resounding YES!) The purpose of the Core Emmuna series is, as its name implies, to give the reader all of the pertinent information and to address all of the core issues related to Emmuna, a person's trust in G-d. For as in all human endeavor in order for us to be able to maximize the impact of all knowledge, it must be built-up from the core. The core muscles, the core concepts, the core information, and, yes, even the knowledge that makes up the core of our being: our emmunah (trust and faith). In this endeavor, I have invested thousands of hours of research and many hundreds of hours of effort into organizing and refining the vast amounts of pertinent information into topics with a logical and clear structure so that they can be grasped and internalized by anyone. No stone has been left unturned. The first book in the series, "Hello? G-d?" takes a look at the creation in all of its facets in order to show - clearly - that science and Torah work together to deepen our understanding of G-d. At the same time, I examine the known sciences of today, (chemistry, biology, physics, cosmology, logic, philosophy, and many things in-between), to show, conclusively that not only today's sciences but that science, in general, cannot give a coherent explanation as to how life and the universe came to be. In doing so we answer life's most fundamental question, "Is there a G-d?" with a resounding "yes." The second book in the series, "G-d & Me," addresses life's second most fundamental question, "Does G-d know me?." This delves deeply into the topic of G-d's relationship with man, showing conclusively that yes, He gives a damn about YOU and put you on this planet to become the best you possible. With G-d's help, it will be ready for publication soon. The third book in the series, "Me & My G-d," will deal with the topic of how a lowly man can work to make his life into one of meaning and purpose as he strives to deepen his personal relationship with the Living G-d, for that is one of the main purposes of life. It is this topic that should and will drive each and every one of us through life as we seize each day as a new opportunity to achieve true meaning and purpose in this world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vatican II's Declaration on the Relation of the Church to Non-Christian Religions (Nostra Aetate) transformed the Catholic view of the Jewish people and the Jewish religious tradition. Asserting that the Church discovers her link to the "stock of Abraham" when "searching her own mystery," Nostra Aetate intimated that the mystery of Israel is inseparable from the mystery of the Church. As interlocking mysteries, each community requires the other in order to understand itself. In Searching Her Own Mystery, noted Messianic Jewish theologian Mark S. Kinzer argues that the Church has yet to explore adequately the implications of Nostra Aetate for Christian self-understanding. The new Catholic teaching concerning Israel should produce fresh perspectives on the entire range of Christian theology, including Christology, ecclesiology, and the theology of the sacraments. To this end, Kinzer proposes an Israel-ecclesiology rooted in Israel-Christology in which a restored ecclesia ex circumcisione--the "church from the circumcision"--assumes a crucial role as a sacramental sign of the Church's bond with the Jewish people and genealogical-Israel's irrevocable election. .embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first and only casebook on the subject in English, Jewish Law provides insight into a legal system with a long and rich tradition, addressing issues that are relevant today in American law. Its primary focus is on the legal aspects of Jewish law, with emphasis on its historical development. The quoted materials originate from a wide variety of sources, from the Torah and rabbinic responsa, to modern authorities and court opinions written by Justice Elon while serving as a Justice and Deputy President of the Supreme Court of Israel. Jewish Law encompasses a broad spectrum of subjects, and in sufficient depth that professors can adapt the materials to their individual teaching methods. By combining jurisprudence, comparative law, and practical law in one clear and concise text, this casebook provides background and perspective for students as well as practitioners. It contrasts the treatment of various topics in Jewish law with the approaches taken by other legal systems, such as American, English, and modern Israeli, thereby offering new insights. The translations from Hebrew to English preserve the original flavor of the Hebrew text. Justice Elon is a legendary figure in Jewish law. He founded and headed the Institute for Research in Jewish Law at the Hebrew University. He was consulted by the Israeli legislature regarding Jewish law issues during the codification of Israeli Civil Law and served as a member of legislative committees. His three-volume treatise, Jewish Law: Ha-Mishpat Ha-Ivri, has become a classic work on the subject in Israel. As a law professor for over 30 years and an ordained rabbi, Justice Elon brings his teaching expertise to this text. His co-authors are also noted and distinguished legal scholars and practitioners, and were the translators of Justice Elon's treatise, Jewish Law (Ha-Mishpat Ha-Ivri), into English.

The stage is now set for life's second most fundamental question: Does the Creator know me?There are a great many religions out there, all claiming to have met the Creator, and there remain a great many others who claim that the Creator is beyond man and doesn't know you. Is there some way to make an informed decision? Is there a truth, and is there a way of recognizing it?Come with me, as we go on a tour of life, the soul, and a frank search of the fundamentals of religion to discover if the Creator knows His creations, and how it is possible to know who has the Words of the Living G-d.Do you have the fortitude to make this trip with me?Are you ready to meet your maker?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A ground-breaking book that takes on skeptics from both sides of the cosmological debate, arguing that science and the Bible are not at odds concerning the origin of the universe. The culmination of a physicist's thirty-five-year journey from MIT to Jerusalem, Genesis and the Big Bang presents a compelling argument that the events of the billions of years that cosmologists say followed the Big Bang and those of the first six days described in Genesis are, in fact, one and the same—identical realities described in vastly different terms. In engaging, accessible language, Dr. Schroeder reconciles the observable facts of science with the very essence of Western religion: the biblical account of Creation. Carefully reviewing and interpreting accepted scientific principles, analogous passages of Scripture, and biblical scholarship, Dr. Schroeder arrives at a conclusion so lucid that one wonders why it has taken this long in coming. The result for the reader—whether believer or skeptic, Jewish or Christian—is a totally fresh understanding of the key events in the life of the universe.
