Book excerpt: Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Die Bedeutung der Kleinen und Mittleren Unternehmen für Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft ist unbestritten. So stellen sie 99,6% aller umsatzsteuerpflichtigen Unternehmen dar und beschäftigen 64% aller Arbeitnehmer. Andererseits läßt die nicht unbeträchtliche Anzahl von Insolvenzen bei Kleinen und Mittleren Unternehmen auf besondere Führungsprobleme schließen. Ein Ansatz, um solchen Problemen konstruktiv entgegenzuwirken, ist der Aufbau oder Ausbau des Controlling mit Führungs- und Führungsunterstützungsfunktion. In Kleinen und Mittleren Unternehmen ist Controlling ebenso vonnöten wie in großen Unternehmen, da ebenfalls intensiver Bedarf an erfolgsorientierten Planungs- und Kontrollinstrumenten besteht, um unter sich verändernden Umweltbedingungen das Unternehmen erfolgreich weiter entwickeln zu können. Dennoch ist empirisch festzustellen, daß die Verbreitung des Controlling bzw. von zugrundeliegenden Kostenrechnungssyste-men in Kleinen und Mittleren Unternehmen oft nicht ausreichend ist. Besonders häufig fehlt die zukunftsorientierte und strategische Ausrichtung. Gang der Untersuchung: Als konzeptionellen Lösungsansatz wird diese Arbeit die einzelnen Aufgaben und Instrumente des Controlling in Kleinen und Mittleren Unternehmen darstellen und Controlling-Servicegesellschaften als externe Controlling-Dienstleister untersuchen. Nach kurzer Einleitung erfolgen die definitorischen Bestimmungen im zweiten Kapitel. Im dritten Kapitel werden einer empirischen Darstellung des Entwicklungsstandes des internen Controlling in Kleinen und Mittleren Unternehmen, Chancen und Risiken des externen Controlling durch Controlling-Servicegesellschaften gegenübergestellt. In Kapitel vier werden die Ziele und Aufgaben von Controlling-Servicegesellschaften untersucht sowie exemplarische Instrumente identifiziert. In diesem Teil soll heraus-gear-beitet werden, wie ein den besonderen Bedürfnissen der Kleinen und Mittleren Unternehmen gerecht werdendes Controlling aussehen und durch Controlling-Servicegesellschaften entworfen und implementiert werden kann. Genauestens dargestellt werden dabei alle für Kleine und Mittlere Unternehmen notwendigen Instrumente von Kosten- und Leistungsrechnungssystemen über Berichtssysteme bis zu modernen Planungs- und Kontrollsystemen.
