Book Synopsis Ship Motion Control by : Tristan Perez
Download or read book Ship Motion Control written by Tristan Perez and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-03-30 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: engineers into a single volume whilst concentrating on two important research control design problems: autopilots with rudder-roll stabilization and fin and combined rudder-fin stabilization. He has been guided by some of the leading marine control academics, in particular Mogens Blanke and Thor Fossen; indeed Chapters 3 and 4 on kinematics and kinetics of ship motion are jointly authored with Professor Fossen. There are some 240 cited references – an invaluable resource for interested readers. The volume is likely to appeal to a wide range of readers who will each be able to extract something different from the various parts of the monograph. Part I has some four chapters on the modelling fundamentals including kinematics, dynamics and actuators. Part II is a very useful survey of the ship roll stabilization problem and how ship roll performance is measured and assessed. This clearly motivates the human necessity for roll-reduction and roll stabilization. Parts III and IV move on to the control systems aspects of the various stabilization designs. Valuable material here includes a study of system performance limitations as caused by the presence of non-minimum phase characteristics and actuator saturation. Chapter 10 has an interesting historical review of these marine control problems stretching back some thirty-years into the 1970s.
Book Synopsis Marine Technology and Transportation by : Tadeusz Graczyk
Download or read book Marine Technology and Transportation written by Tadeusz Graczyk and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 856 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Changes in international trade have had significant effects on the economics of marine transportation, and will continue to do so into the 21st century. This is compounded by the role of technological change and these consequent uncertainties have necessitated a review of advances in marine transportation. Marine technology, particularly the area of ship design, building and operation, is experiencing rapid changes in a more competitive world market. For any industry to remain competitive, it is of the utmost importance that new technologies are not only developed, but rapidly incorporated and put into use.

Book Synopsis Genetic Algorithms and Soft Computing by : Francisco Herrera
Download or read book Genetic Algorithms and Soft Computing written by Francisco Herrera and published by Physica. This book was released on 1996-10 with total page 736 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soft Computing is concerned with modes of computing in which precision is treated for tractability, robustness and ease of implementation, and it contains Fuzzy Sets and Genetic Algorithms among its components. Each of them have different advantages to deal with nonlinearity or explicit knowledge expression, but learning capability, as well as global and local search approaches provided by Genetic Algorithms are remarkable. This book will be revealing for all those interested in new developments and practical applications in the interface between Soft Computing and Genetic Algorithms.
