Book Synopsis On the Cauchy Problem by : Sigeru Mizohata
Download or read book On the Cauchy Problem written by Sigeru Mizohata and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Notes and Reports in Mathematics in Science and Engineering, Volume 3: On the Cauchy Problem focuses on the processes, methodologies, and mathematical approaches to Cauchy problems. The publication first elaborates on evolution equations, Lax-Mizohata theorem, and Cauchy problems in Gevrey class. Discussions focus on fundamental proposition, proof of theorem 4, Gevrey property in t of solutions, basic facts on pseudo-differential, and proof of theorem 3. The book then takes a look at micro-local analysis in Gevrey class, including proof and consequences of theorem 1. The manuscript examines Schrödinger type equations, as well as general view-points on evolution equations. Numerical representations and analyses are provided in the explanation of these type of equations. The book is a valuable reference for mathematicians and researchers interested in the Cauchy problem.
Book Synopsis Phase-space Analysis and Pseudodifferential Calculus on the Heisenberg Group by : Hajer Bahouri
Download or read book Phase-space Analysis and Pseudodifferential Calculus on the Heisenberg Group written by Hajer Bahouri and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A class of pseudodifferential operators on the Heisenberg group is defined. As it should be, this class is an algebra containing the class of differential operators. Furthermore, those pseudodifferential operators act continuously on Sobolev spaces and the loss of derivatives may be controlled by the order of the operator. Although a large number of works have been devoted in the past to the construction and the study of algebras of variable-coefficient operators, including some very interesting works on the Heisenberg group, the authors' approach is different, and in particular puts into light microlocal directions and completes, with the Littlewood-Paley theory initiated in 2000 by Bahouri, Gerard, and Xu: a microlocal analysis of the Heisenberg group.
Book Synopsis The General Theory of Homogenization by : Luc Tartar
Download or read book The General Theory of Homogenization written by Luc Tartar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-12-03 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Homogenization is not about periodicity, or Gamma-convergence, but about understanding which effective equations to use at macroscopic level, knowing which partial differential equations govern mesoscopic levels, without using probabilities (which destroy physical reality); instead, one uses various topologies of weak type, the G-convergence of Sergio Spagnolo, the H-convergence of François Murat and the author, and some responsible for the appearance of nonlocal effects, which many theories in continuum mechanics or physics guessed wrongly. For a better understanding of 20th century science, new mathematical tools must be introduced, like the author’s H-measures, variants by Patrick Gérard, and others yet to be discovered.
Book Synopsis Handbook of Mathematical Fluid Dynamics by : S. Friedlander
Download or read book Handbook of Mathematical Fluid Dynamics written by S. Friedlander and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2003-03-27 with total page 627 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Handbook of Mathematical Fluid Dynamics is a compendium of essays that provides a survey of the major topics in the subject. Each article traces developments, surveys the results of the past decade, discusses the current state of knowledge and presents major future directions and open problems. Extensive bibliographic material is provided. The book is intended to be useful both to experts in the field and to mathematicians and other scientists who wish to learn about or begin research in mathematical fluid dynamics. The Handbook illuminates an exciting subject that involves rigorous mathematical theory applied to an important physical problem, namely the motion of fluids.
