Book Synopsis Transfert Du Cadmium de Sols Pollués Aux Plantes by : Paul-Olivier Redon
Download or read book Transfert Du Cadmium de Sols Pollués Aux Plantes written by Paul-Olivier Redon and published by Editions Universitaires Europeennes. This book was released on 2010-06 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
This book was released on 2001 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: LES PROCEDES BIOLOGIQUES AEROBIES PERMETTENT DE TRANSFORMER LES DECHETS ORGANIQUES EN COMPOSTS. LA VALORISATION AGRICOLE DE CES COMPOSTS CONTRIBUE A L'AMELIORATION DES PROPRIETES PHYSIQUES, CHIMIQUES ET BIOLOGIQUES DES SOLS MAIS LA PRESENCE D'ELEMENTS TRACES METALLIQUES LIMITE LEUR UTILISATION EN RAISON DES RISQUES DE TRANSFERTS A L'ENVIRONNEMENT AUXQUELS SONT ASSOCIES DES RISQUES ECOTOXICOLOGIQUES. LA MOBILITE ET LA BIODISPONIBILITE DES METAUX EN TRACES SONT ETROITEMENT LIEES AUX FORMES CHIMIQUES SOUS LESQUELLES ILS SE TROUVENT DANS LES COMPOSTS ET DANS LES SOLS, APRES EPANDAGE. LES RELATIONS BOUE COMPOSTEE - SOL - PLANTE ONT ETE ETUDIEES EN COLONNES LYSIMETRIQUES SUR DEUX CYCLES CULTURAUX DE COLZA (BRASSICA NAPUS V. JAGUAR). L'HORIZON AP D'UN SOL AGRICOLE A TEXTURE ARGILE LIMONO-SABLEUSE, L'HORIZON C D'UN SOL ACIDE A TEXTURE SABLEUSE ET L'HORIZON C D'UN SOL CALCAIRE A TEXTURE SABLO-LIMONEUSE ONT ETE UTILISES POUR ETRE AMENDES. LES COMPOSTS EMPLOYES COMME AMENDEMENT DIFFERENT SELON LEUR DEGRE DE MATURITE, LEURS TENEURS EN METAL TOTAL, EN DECA DES VALEURS LIMITES, ET SELON LA SPECIATION DES ELEMENTS METALLIQUES QU'ILS RENFERMENT. L'EPANDAGE DES BOUES COMPOSTEES, A DES DOSES D'APPORT POUVANT ATTEINDRE 60 T HA - 1, TEND A FAVORISER LA CROISSANCE DU VEGETAL. PARMI LES ELEMENTS TRACES METALLIQUES ETUDIES (CU, PB, NI ET ZN), LE ZINC EST LE METAL LE PLUS FORTEMENT TRANSFERE DANS LE PROFIL DES SUBSTRATS AMENDES ET AUX VEGETAUX. LES EXPORTATIONS DE METAUX EN TRACES PAR LES PERCOLATS ET LES VEGETAUX SONT PLUS FORTEMENT INFLUENCEES PAR LA NATURE DU SUBSTRAT QUE PAR CELLE DU COMPOST APPLIQUE ET LA DOSE D'EPANDAGE. L'ETUDE SOULIGNE L'IMPORTANCE DES PHENOMENES DE REFIXATION DES ELEMENTS METALLIQUES SUR LA PHASE MINERALE. DURANT LES DEUX CYCLES CULTURAUX, SEULES LES TENEURS EN ZINC DANS LES PLANTES CULTIVEES SUR LES DIFFERENTS SUBSTRATS SONT AUGMENTEES EN REPONSE A L'INCORPORATION DES COMPOSTS, CET ENRICHISSEMENT N'ETANT PAS PROPORTIONNEL A LA DOSE D'APPORT. DES DEREGLEMENTS DU REGIME NUTRITIONNEL DU COLZA SONT OBSERVES ET CE, MEME POUR DE FAIBLES APPORTS DE METAUX EN TRACES. DES PERTURBATIONS DE LA SYNTHESE DES PIGMENTS PHOTOSYNTHETIQUES SONT EGALEMENT RELEVEES. L'INDUCTION PAR LE CUIVRE DE LA SYNTHESE DE PHYTOCHELATINES CHEZ LE COLZA EST DEMONTREE. LA DETECTION DE CES PEPTIDES POUR DE FAIBLES CHARGES EN METAUX DANS LE SOL ET LA PLANTE TEMOIGNE DE LA SENSIBILITE DE CETTE INDUCTION.
Book Synopsis Bioavailability of Organic Xenobiotics in the Environment by : P. Baveye
Download or read book Bioavailability of Organic Xenobiotics in the Environment written by P. Baveye and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the continuing fight against organic environmental xenobiotics, the initial success attributed to bioremediation has paled, in part due to the low availability of xenobiotics entrapped within a soil or sediment matrix. This has generated a very significant wave of interest in the bioavailability issue. However, much experimental evidence is puzzling or contradictory, mechanistic theories are embryonic, and implications for the practice of bioremediation or concerning the natural fate of xenobiotics are still tentative. The debate in Europe and the USA is vigorous. Eastern Europe, following the liberalisation of the economy and political life, is evolving in a similar direction. In many cases, however, limited access to literature sources, severe language barriers, and the lack of a strong pluridisciplinary tradition are hampering the adoption of state of the art techniques. Originally intended to allow scientists in East European countries to become acquainted with the key aspects of the bioavailability debate that is unfolding in the scientific literature in the West, and with its implications for bioremediation efforts, the present book presents a very complete coverage of the theoretical and practical aspects of the (limited) bioavailability of organic xenobiotics in the environment.

Book Synopsis Agromining: Farming for Metals by : Antony van der Ent
Download or read book Agromining: Farming for Metals written by Antony van der Ent and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-12-07 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second and expanded edition of the first book on agromining (phytomining) presents a comprehensive overview of the metal farming & recovery of the agromining production chain. Agromining is an emerging technology that aims to transform the extraction of sources of target elements not accessible by traditional mining and processing techniques. Agromining, which is based on sustainable development, uses hyperaccumulator plants as 'metal crops' farmed on sub-economic soils or minerals wastes to obtain valuable target elements. This volume is edited and authored by the pioneers in the rapidly expanding field of agromining and presents the latest insights and developments in the field. This book provides in-depth information on the global distribution and ecology of hyperaccumulator plants, their biogeochemical pathways, the influence of rhizosphere microbes, the physiology and molecular biology of hyperaccumulation, as well as aspects of propagation and conservation of these unusual plants. It describes the agronomy of metal crops and opportunities for incorporating agromining into rehabilitation and mine closure, including test cases for agromining of nickel, cobalt, manganese, arsenic, selenium, cadmium, zinc, thallium, rare earth elements and platinum group elements. Since the first edition was published, there have successful nickel agromining field trials in the tropics (in Malaysia and Guatemala), and these are presented in a dedicated case study chapter. Other new chapters focus on the processing of bio-ore for elements other than nickel, such as rare earth elements and cadmium, and on agromining from industrial wastes such as tailings, and industrial by-products and sites. Furthermore, the book features two new chapters that provide a comprehensive assessment of accumulation a very wide range elements from the Periodic Table in various plant species around the globe, and a chapter on practical methods for discovery of hyperaccumulator plant species in the field and in the herbarium. This book is of interest to environmental professionals in the minerals industry, government regulators, and academics.

Book Synopsis Faecal Sludge Management by : Linda Strande
Download or read book Faecal Sludge Management written by Linda Strande and published by IWA Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-15 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is estimated that literally billions of residents in urban and peri-urban areas of Africa, Asia, and Latin America are served by onsite sanitation systems (e.g. various types of latrines and septic tanks). Until recently, the management of faecal sludge from these onsite systems has been grossly neglected, partially as a result of them being considered temporary solutions until sewer-based systems could be implemented. However, the perception of onsite or decentralized sanitation technologies for urban areas is gradually changing, and is increasingly being considered as long-term, sustainable options in urban areas, especially in low- and middle-income countries that lack sewer infrastructures. This is the first book dedicated to faecal sludge management. It compiles the current state of knowledge of the rapidly evolving field of faecal sludge management, and presents an integrated approach that includes technology, management, and planning based on Sandecs 20 years of experience in the field. Faecal Sludge Management: Systems Approach for Implementation and Operation addresses the organization of the entire faecal sludge management service chain, from the collection and transport of sludge, and the current state of knowledge of treatment options, to the final end use or disposal of treated sludge. The book also presents important factors to consider when evaluating and upscaling new treatment technology options. The book is designed for undergraduate and graduate students, and engineers and practitioners in the field who have some basic knowledge of environmental and/or wastewater engineering.
