This book was released on 1994 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: L'ETUDE CONCERNE LA LUBRIFICATION LIQUIDE DES CONTACTS HERTZIENS EN AMBIANCE SPATIALE. LES DIFFICULTES PROVIENNENT PRINCIPALEMENT DES EFFETS DE LA FAIBLE PRESSION AMBIANTE. CES EFFETS LIMITENT LE CHOIX DES LUBRIFIANTS ET AMPLIFIENT LES CONSEQUENCES DES DEFAILLANCES DE LA LUBRIFICATION QUI SE TRADUISENT IMMEDIATEMENT PAR DES SOUDURES FROIDES QUI ENTRAINENT LE BLOCAGE DES MECANISMES. POUR SE PREMUNIR CONTRE CETTE AVARIE, IL EST NECESSAIRE DE SEPARER LES CORPS EN CONTACT OU PREMIERS CORPS, C'EST LE ROLE DU LUBRIFIANT OU TROISIEME CORPS. LORSQUE POUR DES RAISONS, DE CINEMATIQUE, DE GEOMETRIE, DE CHARGE, DE VITESSE..., UN FILM SEPARATEUR NE SE FORME PAS, DES PALLIATIFS DOIVENT ETRE TROUVES, C'EST L'OBJECTIF DE CE TRAVAIL. POUR CELA ET A PARTIR D'UN TRIBOMETRE EXISTANT, UN DISPOSITIF A ETE CONCU POUR SIMULER ET VISUALISER SOUS VIDE LA PRESENCE D'UN FILM DE LUBRIFIANT DANS DES CONTACTS FONCTIONNANT DANS LES CONDITIONS DES MECANISMES SPATIAUX. PARTANT DE LA CONDITION IDEALE DE SEPARATION QUI EST LA LUBRIFICATION ELASTOHYDRODYNAMIQUE, LES SIMULATIONS ONT PERMIS D'EVALUER LES EFFETS DE LA MICRO-GEOMETRIE ET DE LA VITESSE DES PREMIERS CORPS, DE LA VISCOSITE, DE LA MOUILLABILITE ET DE LA GRANULOMETRIE D'ADDITIFS SOLIDES DANS LE TROISIEME CORPS. LES PALLIATIFS PORTENT SUR LES TROIS ELEMENTS DU TRIPLET TRIBOLOGIQUE: LE MECANISME, ADAPTATION DE LA CINEMATIQUE; LES PREMIERS CORPS, ADAPTATION DE LEUR NATURE ET DE LEUR MICRO-GEOMETRIE; LE TROISIEME CORPS, ADDITIVATION ET CRITERES D'ELABORATION D'UN LUBRIFIANT SPECIFIQUE

Book excerpt: LA DETERMINATION THEORIQUE DU COMPORTEMENT DE MECANISMES LUBRIFIES SOUMIS A UN CHARGEMENT TRANSITOIRE NECESSITE UNE MODELISATION PRECISE AFIN D'EVALUER CORRECTEMENT LES EFFORTS MIS EN JEU. LES SIMPLIFICATIONS DES DEMARCHES CLASSIQUES DE LA THEORIE DES FILMS MINCES NE SONT PLUS PERMISES. SOUS CES CONDITIONS DE SOLLICITATION LES EFFETS INERTIELS ET LE CARACTERE VISCOELASTIQUE DU LUBRIFIANT MERITENT UNE ATTENTION PARTICULIERE. DANS UNE PREMIERE APPROCHE, L'ETUDE CONCERNE LE PROBLEME DE L'IMPULSION DE CHARGE DANS UN PALIER LISSE. LES EFFETS D'INERTIE DU FLUIDE ET L'EFFET FLUIDIFIANT SONT PRIS EN COMPTE. DANS UNE DEUXIEME ETAPE, NOUS NOUS INTERESSONS PLUS PRECISEMENT A L'INFLUENCE DES EFFETS VISCOELASTIQUES DU LUBRIFIANT DURANT CE CHARGEMENT TRANSITOIRE. LES THEORIES DES RESEAUX DE POLYMERES ET DES SOLUTIONS DILUEES SONT UTILISEES POUR CHOISIR ET JUSTIFIER UNE LOI DE COMPORTEMENT DU LUBRIFIANT. AFIN DE MODELISER L'ECOULEMENT DANS LA ZONE OU LES EFFETS D'ECRASEMENT SONT PREPONDERANTS, UNE METHODE NUMERIQUE PAR ELEMENTS FRONTIERES EST DEVELOPPEE. LES RESULTATS CONFIRMENT L'INTERET DES SURMODULATIONS DE CONTRAINTES DANS LES PROBLEMES LIES A L'IMPULSION DE CHARGE DANS UN MECANISME LUBRIFIE

IL EST CONCENTRE SUR L'ETUDE DU LUBRIFIANT, EN PARTICULIER SUR SON APTITUDE A POUVOIR REALIMENTER LES ZONES DE CONTACT. L'APPROCHE A ETE SCINDEE EN TROIS CONTRIBUTIONS PRINCIPALES : - TOUT D'ABORD NOUS AVONS ISOLE LE TROISIEME CORPS FLUIDE ET ETUDIE SON COMPORTEMENT RHEOLOGIQUE. L'INFLUENCE DES DIFFERENTS COMPOSANTS DES LUBRIFIANTS SUR LA VISCOSITE APPARENTE, LE SEUIL D'ECOULEMENT OU LEURS PROPRIETES ELASTIQUES A ETE MONTREE ET EXPLICITEE, - LES INTERACTIONS LUBRIFIANTS/SURFACES ONT ETE ETUDIEES A TRAVERS DES EXPERIENCES DE MIGRATION THERMOCAPILLAIRE, QUI CONSTITUENT UNE SOURCE IMPORTANTE DE DESALIMENTATION. DES COMPORTEMENTS TRES DISTINCTS ONT ETE NOTES POUR LES DEUX HUILES DE BASE. LES MIGRATIONS OBSERVEES DANS LE CAS DE SUSPENSIONS SONT RESTEES BEAUCOUP PLUS LIMITEES. - ENFIN, ON S'EST INTERESSE AU FONCTIONNEMENT D'UN CONTACT LUBRIFIE ET DE SON VOISINAGE. LES MECANISMES DE REALIMENTATION DES SUSPENSIONS ET DE LEURS HUILES DE BASE ONT ETE OBSERVES. IL A ETE EGALEMENT MONTRE QUE LES PARTICULES PRESENTES DANS LES SUSPENSIONS PEUVENT APPORTER UN RELAIS EFFICACE A LA LUBRIFICATION LIQUIDE. FINALEMENT, A TRAVERS LA TRANSPOSITION DE CES ACQUIS ANALYTIQUES A L'ETUDE DE LA LUBRIFICATION FLUIDE DES ROULEMENTS COMPLETS, ON EST EN MESURE D'UNE PART, D'EN AMELIORER LE FONCTIONNEMENT ET D'AUTRE PART, DE PROPOSER D'AUTRES THEMES DE RECHERCHE DANS CE DOMAINE.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numerous issues confront women's healthcare today, among them the medicalization of women's bodies, cosmetic genital surgery, violence against women, HIV, perinatal mental health disorders. This volume uniquely explores such difficult topics and others at the intersection of clinical practice, policy, and bioethics in women's health care through a feminist ethics lens. With in-depth discussions of issues in women's reproductive health, it also broadens scholarship by responding to a wider array of ethical challenges that many women experience in accessing health care. Contributions touch on many themes previously tackled by feminist ethics, but in new, contemporary ways. Some chapters expand into new fields in the bioethics literature, such as the ethical issues related to the care of Indigenous women, uninsured refugees and immigrants, women engaged in sex work, and those with HIV at different life stages and perinatal mental health disorders. Authors seek to connect theory and practice with users of the health system by including women's voices in their research. Bringing to bear their experience in active clinical practice in medicine, nursing, and ethics, the authors contemplate new conceptual approaches to important issues in women's healthcare, and make ethical practice recommendations for those grappling with these issues. Topical and up-to-date, this book provides a valuable resource for physicians, nurses, clinical ethicists, and researchers working in some of the most critical areas of women's health and applied ethics today.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The combination of readily available computing power and progress in numerical techniques has made nonlinear systems - the kind that only a few years ago were ignored as too complex - open to analysis for the first time. Now realistic models of living systems incorporating the nonlinear variation and anisotropic nature of physical properties can be solved numerically on modern computers to give realistically usable results. This has opened up new and exciting possibilities for the fusing of ideas from physiology and engineering in the burgeoning new field that is biomechanics. Computational Biomechanics presents pioneering work focusing on the areas of orthopedic and circulatory mechanics, using experimental results to confirm or improve the relevant mathematical models and parameters. Together with two companion volumes, Biomechanics: Functional Adaptation and Remodeling and the Data Book on Mechanical Properties of Living Cells, Tissues, and Organs, this monograph will prove invaluable to those working in fields ranging from medical science and clinical medicine to biomedical engineering and applied mechanics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most women who die from cervical cancer, particularly in developing countries, are in the prime of their life. They may be raising children, caring for their family, and contributing to the social and economic life of their town or village. Their death is both a personal tragedy, and a sad and unnecessary loss to their family and their community. Unnecessary, because there is compelling evidence, as this Guide makes clear, that cervical cancer is one of the most preventable and treatable forms of cancer, as long as it is detected early and managed effectively. Unfortunately, the majority of women in developing countries still do not have access to cervical cancer prevention programmes. The consequence is that, often, cervical cancer is not detected until it is too late to be cured. An urgent effort is required if this situation is to be corrected. This Guide is intended to help those responsible for providing services aimed at reducing the burden posed by cervical cancer for women, communities and health systems. It focuses on the knowledge and skills needed by health care providers, at different levels of care.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second edition of a guide, which introduced a simple, yet highly effective method for the relief of cancer pain. Thoroughly revised and updated, the new edition further refines the WHO method, which advocates the use of a small number of relatively inexpensive drugs, including morphine. Revisions draw on experiences with millions of patients around the world as well as new knowledge about the specific pain syndromes unique to cancer. Completely new are chapters describing the international system by which morphine and other opioids are made available for medical purposes. The book has two parts. Part one provides a practical guide to the relief of cancer pain, concentrating on drug treatment as the mainstay of pain management. The most extensive section sets out detailed guidelines for the selection and prescribing of non-opioid analgesics, opioid analgesics, drugs for neuropathic pain, and adjuvant drugs for the treatment of adverse effects, the enhancement of pain relief and the management of concomitant psychological disturbances. Information ranges from explanations of how specific drugs work, through the precautions to take in the presence of certain disorders, to a list of factors that influence the effectiveness of opioids. Concerning the use of opioids, readers are reminded that psychological dependence does not occur in cancer patients and that the only correct dose of morphine is the one that relieves the pain. Part two provides a guide to opioid availability. A discussion of the reasons why opioids continue to be underprescribed or difficult to obtain is followed by an explanation of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs.
