Book excerpt: La présente étude est consacrée à l'influence exercée par la microhétérogénéité d'une solution aqueuse de surfactants sur la cinétique de réactions rapides induites par la lumière. Les expériences réalisées ont pour but de préciser la notion de distribution de solutés parmi les micelles et de déterminer la vitesse des réactions intramicellaires. Le chapitre 1 décrit brièvement les techniques expérimentales et l'appareillage utilisés. Quelques propriétés des solutions de surfactants seront exposées au chapitre 2. Le chapitre 3 traitera des modëles de distribution des solutés apolaires parmi les micelles. Un modèle de cinétique intramicellaire sera décrit dans le chapitre 4. Le chapitre 5 décrira des expériences de transfert d'énergie triplet entre des solutés associés à la même micelle. Les résultats de ces expériences seront comparés avec les modèles décrits aux chapitre 3 et 4. Les résultats obtenus permettent d'élaborer un modèle décrivant les aspects statistiques et cinétiques du processus d'annihilation triplet-triplet intramicellaire. Ce modèle, décrit au chapitre 6, sera appliqué aux résultats expérimentaux dans le chapitre 7. Les chapitres 8 et 9 traitent du transfert d'énergie singulet entre des molëcules associées à des micelles. Une conclusion générale concernant ce travail sera apportée au chapitre 10. Une liste de références est donnée à la fin de chaque chapitre

His first assignment was with the University of Paris VI before he was appointed to the CNRS, the French National Research Center. His research was focused on optical pumping, statistical mechanics of quantum gases, musical acoustics and the foundations of quantum mechanics.
