Book Synopsis Flows and Chemical Reactions in Heterogeneous Mixtures by : Roger Prud'homme
Download or read book Flows and Chemical Reactions in Heterogeneous Mixtures written by Roger Prud'homme and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-12-03 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book - a sequel of previous publications 'Flows and Chemical Reactions' and 'Chemical Reactions in Flows and Homogeneous Mixtures' - is devoted to flows with chemical reactions in heterogeneous environments. Heterogeneous media in this volume include interfaces and lines. They may be the site of radiation. Each type of flow is the subject of a chapter in this volume. We consider first, in Chapter 1, the question of the generation of environments biphasic individuals: dusty gas, mist, bubble flow. Chapter 2 is devoted to the study at the mesoscopic scale: particle-fluid exchange of momentum and heat with determination of the respective exchange coefficients. In Chapter 3, we establish simplified equations of macroscopic balance for mass, for the momentum and energy, in the case of particles of one size (monodisperse suspension). Radiative phenomena are presented in Chapter 5.

Book Synopsis Modeling and Simulation of Turbulent Flows by : Roland Schiestel
Download or read book Modeling and Simulation of Turbulent Flows written by Roland Schiestel and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-01-05 with total page 751 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title provides the fundamental bases for developing turbulence models on rational grounds. The main different methods of approach are considered, ranging from statistical modelling at various degrees of complexity to numerical simulations of turbulence. Each of these various methods has its own specific performances and limitations, which appear to be complementary rather than competitive. After a discussion of the basic concepts, mathematical tools and methods for closure, the book considers second order closure models. Emphasis is placed upon this approach because it embodies potentials for clarifying numerous problems in turbulent shear flows. Simpler, generally older models are then presented as simplified versions of the more general second order models. The influence of extra physical parameters is also considered. Finally, the book concludes by examining large Eddy numerical simulations methods. Given the book’s comprehensive coverage, those involved in the theoretical or practical study of turbulence problems in fluids will find this a useful and informative read.

Book Synopsis Variable Density Fluid Turbulence by : P. Chassaing
Download or read book Variable Density Fluid Turbulence written by P. Chassaing and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first part aims at providing the physical and theoretical framework of the analysis of density variations in fully turbulent flows. Its scope is deliberately educational. In the second part, basic data on dynamical and scalar properties of variable density turbulent flows are presented and discussed, based on experimental data and/or results from direct numerical simulations. This part is rather concerned with a research audience. The last part is more directly devoted to an engineering audience and deals with prediction methods for turbulent flows of variable density fluid. Both first and second order, single point modeling are discussed, with special emphasis on the capability to include specific variable density / compressibility effects.

Book Synopsis Mathematical Modeling of Disperse Two-Phase Flows by : Christophe Morel
Download or read book Mathematical Modeling of Disperse Two-Phase Flows written by Christophe Morel and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-07-17 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book develops the theoretical foundations of disperse two-phase flows, which are characterized by the existence of bubbles, droplets or solid particles finely dispersed in a carrier fluid, which can be a liquid or a gas. Chapters clarify many difficult subjects, including modeling of the interfacial area concentration. Basic knowledge of the subjects treated in this book is essential to practitioners of Computational Fluid Dynamics for two-phase flows in a variety of industrial and environmental settings. The author provides a complete derivation of the basic equations, followed by more advanced subjects like turbulence equations for the two phases (continuous and disperse) and multi-size particulate flow modeling. As well as theoretical material, readers will discover chapters concerned with closure relations and numerical issues. Many physical models are presented, covering key subjects including heat and mass transfers between phases, interfacial forces and fluid particles coalescence and breakup, amongst others. This book is highly suitable for students in the subject area, but may also be a useful reference text for more advanced scientists and engineers.
Book Synopsis La Modélisation multidimensionnelle des écoulements dans les moteurs by : Thierry Baritaud
Download or read book La Modélisation multidimensionnelle des écoulements dans les moteurs written by Thierry Baritaud and published by Editions TECHNIP. This book was released on 1999 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With an increasingly challenging commercial environment, and the need imposed by safety principles to reduce both fuel consumption and pollutant emissions, the development of new engines can now benefit from the advances of computational fluid dynamics. Engine CFD is a most challenging simulation problem. This is caused by the spread of time and space scales, the excursion amplitude of most parameters, the high quasi-cyclic unstationarity of engine flows, the importance of minor geometry details, the number of physical and chemical processes including turbulent combustion and multi-phase flows to model. However, engine CFD has now reached a state where it has become a widely used tool, not only for engine understanding, but also increasingly for engine design. Undoubtedly, laser diagnostics in optical access engines have also brought significant help.Contents: 1. State of the art of multi-dimensional modeling of engine reacting flows. 2. Simulation of the intake and compression strokes of a motored 4-valve SI engine with a finite element code. 3. A parallel, unstructured-mesh methodology for device-scale combustion calculations. 4. Large-eddy simulation of in-cylinder flows. 5. Simulation of engine internal flows using digital physics. 6. Automatic block decomposition of parametrically changing volumes. 7. Developments in spray modeling in diesel and direct-injection gasoline engines. 8. Cyto-fluid dynamic theory of atomization processes. 9. Influence of the wall temperature on the mixture preparation in DI gasoline engines. 10. Simulation of cavitating flows in diesel injectors. 11. Recent developments in simulations of internal flows in high pressure swirl injectors. 12. 3D simulation of DI diesel combustion and pollutant formation using a two-component reference fuel. 13.
