Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The purpose of this dissertation "People with special educational needfulness: important topics for a included education." is to show the many reflexes of changes in the process of inclusion of students with special educational needfulness in the regular grade of teaching. This dissertation raises, either, a thinking about the difficulties, threats and advantages that the included school allows, focusing so, a new vision about the function of the special education. In this case, is detached as fundamental point the paper of family, of the teachers and others educators, of the society and governments in the compliment of laws that asserts the entrance of students in the regular grade of teaching. It was considered, in this work, as summary importance, the show about a case's study, focusing a life history of a girl, 21 years old, who have special educational needfulness, in a included school, in operation during 21 years too. This history tells all the challenge of the process of inclusion, as familiar as in the school and social. These histories evidences the successful possibility of the inclusion, showing essential sources, tools that a person with special educational needfulness have suggested. Further, in this work, is emphasized a brief historic of the special educational in Brazil, in order to show the real history, based in some rules. The great real challenge is to permit the approach of the educational system for all people, mainly considering the human's diversity and the typically of each one person.

This research approaches the use of computer in the inclusion process, in a 1st - 8th grade school, of a teenager carrying a brain paralysis. It is presented, through a case study, an investigation about the use of computer as a support on the development of the cognitive, social, affective processes of learning, as much as the computer ensuring the viability of the inclusion of the carrier of educational special needs. The inclusive education, throughout its social-political aspects and the learning constructionist theories, gave basis the data analysis and interpretation. Over the results obtained, it is evident that the carrier of special needs, particularly, the carrier of brain paralysis, can overcome many of his psychological and moving difficulties - throughout the help, support and incentive of those that believe in his learning potential - giving to him the opportunity of access to the computer resources (which can favour his social reintegration). On the investigation, the teenager records were analysed, as well as the field observation and interview witch the professional involved.

Book excerpt: Urban Claims and the Right to the City explores how contested processes of urban development, and the rights of city dwellers, are understood and interpreted from the perspective of women and men working, in different ways, at the grassroots in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, and London, UK. In doing so, it represents the grounded voices of authors whose work and lives mean that they engage, on a daily basis, with issues related to housing and spatial rights, and identity struggles around race, gender, disability, sexuality, citizenship and class. Book excerpt: It is difficult to improve on a classic, but the fifth edition of Psychodynamic Psychiatry in Clinical Practice does just that, offering the updates readers expect with a deft reorganization that integrates DSM-5® with the author's emphasis on psychodynamic thinking. The individual patient is never sacrificed to the diagnostic category, yet clinicians will find the guidance they need to apply DSM-5® appropriately. Each chapter has been systematically updated to reflect the myriad and manifold changes in the 9 years since the previous edition's publication. All 19 chapters have new references and cutting-edge material that will prepare psychiatrists and residents to treat patients with compassion and skill. The book offers the following features: Each chapter integrates new neurobiological findings with psychodynamic understanding so that clinicians can approach their patients with a truly biopsychosocial treatment plan. Excellent writing and an intuitive structure make complicated psychodynamic concepts easy to understand so that readers can grasp the practical application of theory in everyday practice. The book links clinical understanding to the new DSM-5® nomenclature so that clinicians and trainees can adapt psychodynamic thinking to the new conceptual models of disorders. New coverage of psychodynamic thinking with relation to the treatment of patients on the autism spectrum addresses an increasingly important practice area. Posttraumatic stress and dissociative disorders have been combined to allow for integrated coverage of primary psychiatric disorders related to trauma and stressors. A boon to clinicians in training and practice, the book has been meticulously edited and grounded in the latest research. The author firmly believes that clinicians must not lose the complexities of the person in the process of helping the patient. Psychodynamic Psychiatry in Clinical Practice, Fifth Edition, keeps this approach front and center as it engages, instructs, and exhorts the reader in the thoughtful, humane practice of psychodynamic psychiatry.

Book excerpt: A Course in Miracles (ACIM)—the self-study spiritual-thought system that teaches the way to love and forgiveness—has captured the minds and hearts of millions of people, and delivered inner peace where fear and pain once prevailed. Its universal message is unsurpassed in its power to heal. Yet many students report that they have difficulty grasping the principles, or encounter resistance to the lessons. So, even while they yearn for the spiritual freedom the Course offers, they put the book aside, hoping one day to get to it. Alan Cohen, ACIM student and teacher for over 30 years, takes the Big Picture ideas of the Course and brings them down to earth in practical, easy-to-understand lessons with plenty of real-life examples and applications. A Course in Miracles Made Easy is the Rosetta stone that will render the Course understandable and relatable; and, most importantly, generate practical, healing results in the lives of students. This unique reader-friendly guide will serve longtime students of the Course, as well as those seeking to acquaint themselves with the program.
