Book Synopsis Rhythms of the Pachakuti by : Raquel Gutiérrez Aguilar
Download or read book Rhythms of the Pachakuti written by Raquel Gutiérrez Aguilar and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2014-08-24 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the indigenous Andean language of Aymara, pachakuti refers to the subversion and transformation of social relations. Between 2000 and 2005, Bolivia was radically transformed by a series of popular indigenous uprisings against the country's neoliberal and antidemocratic policies. In Rhythms of the Pachakuti, Raquel Gutiérrez Aguilar documents these mass collective actions, tracing the internal dynamics of such disruptions to consider how motivation and execution incite political change. "In Rhythms of the Pachakuti we can sense the reverberations of an extraordinary historical process that took place in Bolivia at the start of the twenty-first century. The book is the product of Raquel Gutiérrez Aguilar's political engagement in that historical process. . . . Though of Mexican nationality, [she] was intimately involved in Bolivian politics for many years and acquired a quasi-legendary status there as an intense, brilliant activist and radical intellectual. . . . [Her account is] . . . itself a revolutionary document. . . . Rhythms of the Pachakuti deserves to stand as a key text in the international literature of radicalism and emancipatory politics in the new century."—Sinclair Thomson, from the foreword

Book Synopsis God Money, God Power, Where Is God Love? by : Aida Luz Morales Seda
Download or read book God Money, God Power, Where Is God Love? written by Aida Luz Morales Seda and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-03-16 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God Money, God Power, Where is God Love? is not about religion, and it is not about politics. It is a message I wanted to share with the world that money is not as important if our hearts are filled with so much love. Love leads us to understanding and shows gratitude toward others. I express my deepest love for humanity, and my heart is open for all the children in this world, believing that these young children are the ones who open the doors to a better future. This cannot be done by one person alone. It starts in the home with proper guidance and values as the foundation. Along with these values, our society needs to come together, hand-in-hand, in order to lead these children to a better and more successful future. This may seem like an impossible dream, but the reality of it is that we need to realize our dreams and start putting them into action. All things are possible to accomplish when there is love, understanding, and humility toward each other. While we continue working on our dreams, they can become a reality through our values. Let's hold hands together and continue to follow this path!

Book Synopsis Fields of Expertise by : Christelle Rabier
Download or read book Fields of Expertise written by Christelle Rabier and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2021-02-19 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primacy of experts and expertise in current fields of public policy, governance and non-governmental organizations has accompanied increasing confusion on the foundations of their practices and the adequacy of their methods. Fields of Expertise clarifies the complex heritage of experts by exploring their relationship with legal, political and administrative powers from a comparative historical and interdisciplinary perspective. Specifically, the authors offer case studies on expert procedures in the two capital cities of Paris and London since 1600 in the essential areas of risk management, medical procedures, economic policy, and administrative reform. In doing so, they provide insight into the evolution of expert procedures while at the same time taking into consideration the interdisciplinary nature of scholarship on expertise drawn from Sociology, Science Studies and Political Science. The following articles thus challenge traditional views on the nature of expertise and provide a synthesis of the vast and disparate literature that has been written on the subject. Fields of Expertise’s international perspectives and multi-disciplinary grasp of the literature in political science, sociology, science studies and history will be useful to scholars and students alike in addressing this highly topical issue. The essays reference mainstream sources and widely-documented cases on experts and expertise, making it accessible to the general reader as well.

Download or read book The Jewish Jesus written by Zev Garber and published by Purdue University Press. This book was released on 2011-04-12 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a general understanding within religious and academic circles that the incarnate Christ of Christian belief lived and died a faithful Jew. This volume addresses Jesus in the context of Judaism. By emphasizing his Jewishness, the authors challenge today’s Jews to reclaim the Nazarene as a proto-rebel rabbi and invite Christians to discover or rediscover the Church’s Jewish heritage. The essays in this volume cover historical, literary, liturgical, philosophical, religious, theological, and contemporary issues related to the Jewish Jesus. Several of them were originally presented at a three-day symposium on “Jesus in the Context of Judaism and the Challenge to the Church,” hosted by the Samuel Rosenthal Center for Judaic Studies at Case Western Reserve University in 2009. In the context of pluralism, in the temper of growing interreligious dialogue, and in the spirit of reconciliation, encountering Jesus as living history for Christians and Jews is both necessary and proper. This book will be of particular interest to scholars of the New Testament and Early Church who are seeking new ways of understanding Jesus in his religious and cultural milieu, as well Jewish and Christian theologians and thinkers who are concerned with contemporary Jewish and Christian relationships.
