Book excerpt: L'objet de cette thèse est d'élaborer un modèle de découverte de connaissances associant itérativement la construction automatique des zones d'intérêt (objets urbains, relations entre eux, ...), à partir des images de télédétection et la classification de ces objets. La construction des objet s'appuiera entre autre sur des opérateurs de fouille de données (notamment en utilisant les algorithmes de clustering développés par Cédric Wemmert au sein de l'équipe FDBT) et/ou des outils de morphologie mathématique (via l'utilisation de la plateforme piaf développé par l'équipe Sébastien Lefèvre de l'équipe MIV). La classification sera basée sur un système d'agents collaboratif utilisant plusieurs méthodes pour résoudre la problématique. Cette approche a déjà montré son intérêt dans le processus de clustering. L'utilisation de connaissances sera utilisée tant au niveau de la construction que de la classification. Une ontologie du domaine est en cours de développement dans l'équipe ERIC de Lyon. Elle sera utilisée pour la construction d'objet en indiquant les constructions d'objets potentiellement intéressantes. Au niveau de la classification, les connaissances permettront d'améliorer la capacité de détection en induisant une sémantique aux objets. Cette ontologie pourra aussi être enrichie dans le cas où le système découvre de nouvelles règles pertinentes...La morphologie mathématique donne des résultats sur des images en niveaux de gris [1], mais l'utilisation des données hyperspectrales est un champ encore peu étudié et qui pourrait améliorer sensiblement les résultats. Un système de clustering a été développé par l'équipe FDBT et pourra servir de base aux travaux. Les ontologies basées sur les logiques de descriptions permettent de gérer des connaissances de façon adéquates, un travail au niveau de l'opérationnalisation sera peut-être à effectuer. ...Le programme initial se base sur une approche du bas vers le haut du problème. Il convient de s'intéresser tout d'abord à la construction des régions, en cherchant via un état de l'art et certains prototypages à choisir les algorithmes les plus à même de pouvoir décrire l'image satellite dans à un niveau de description supérieur. Une fois cette première étape remplie, la classification de ces objets de niveau de description supérieur sera étudié. Encore une fois, après un état de l'art et des prototypages si besoin, certains algorithmes (système expert extrait de l'ontologie, arbres de décision, ...) seront sélectionnés pour être intégré dans un environnement collaboratif. Enfin il faudra modifier ces algorithmes pour leur donner la capacité de tenir compte des résultats des autres algorithmes.

Book excerpt: Avec l'avènement des images satellitaires à très haute résolution, les approches pixelliques ne donnant plus entière satisfaction ont été remplacées par les approches objets. Cependant, ces approches restent tributaires de la première étape qui permet le passage du pixel vers l'objet, à savoir l'étape de construction. L'architecture séquentielle de ces approches fait que les erreurs de l'étape de construction se répercutent sur l'étape d'identification. Il devient donc primordial de passer de cette architecture séquentielle vers une architecture itérative permettant la collaboration entre les étapes de construction et d'identification. Dans le cadre de cette thèse, nous nous sommes concentrés sur l'étude de l'étape de construction(i.e., la segmentation) comme base de départ pour les approches proposées. Nous avons proposé deux approches objets basées sur les techniques de segmentation les plus propices à la collaboration, à savoir les techniques régions et les techniques collaboratives région/contour. La première approche proposée se base sur une croissance sémantique hiérarchique. Elle permet de combiner les algorithmes de croissance de régions et les approches d'analyse d'images orientées objets. La croissance étant spécifique à la classe du germe de départ, nous avons proposé deux adaptations de l'approche sur les objets les plus rencontrés dans le contexte urbain, à savoir, les routes et les bâtiments. La deuxième approche utilise un algorithme évolutionnaire local permettant un paramétrage local des différents agents régions et contours évoluant au sein d'un système multi-agents.

Le traitement manuel de ces données étant devenu impossible, de nouveaux outils sont nécessaires afin de les traiter automatiquement. Des algorithmes de segmentation efficaces sont nécessaires pour extraire des objets d'intérêt de ces images. Cependant les segments produits ne correspondent pas aux objets d'intérêt, rendant difficile l'utilisation de connaissances expertes.Dans le cadre de cette thèse nous proposons de changer le niveau d'interprétation d'une image afin de voir les objets d'intérêt pour l'expert comme des objets composés par des segments. Pour cela, nous avons mis en place un processus d'apprentissage multi-niveaux dans le but d'apprendre ces règles de composition. Une règle de composition ainsi apprise peut ensuite être utilisée pour extraire les objets d'intérêt correspondant. Dans un second temps, nous proposons d'utiliser l'algorithme d'apprentissage de règles de composition comme première étape d'une approche montante-descendante. Cette chaîne de traitement a pour objectif d'améliorer la classification à partir des informations contextuelles et de connaissances expertes. Des objets composés de plus haut niveau sémantique sont extraits à partir de règles apprises ou fournies par l'expert, et cette nouvelle information est utilisée pour mettre à jour la classification des objets aux niveaux inférieurs. L'ensemble de ces travaux ont été testés et validés sur des images Pléiades représentant la ville de Strasbourg. Les résultats obtenus montrent l'efficacité de l'apprentissage de règles de composition pour faire le lien entre connaissance experte et segmentation, ainsi que l'intérêt de l'utilisation d'informations contextuelles dans l'analyse d'images de télédétection à très haute résolution spatiale.
