This book was released on 2020-04-05 with total page 902 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has been seven decades since the independent state of Pakistan was carved out of British India, yet the country is still in pursuit of a suitable constitutional framework. Over this period of time, no other country has experimented with so many different constitutional forms, from parliamentary democracy to presidential form of government, to outright military regimes. This book analyses constitutional development in Pakistan from its inception to present times. It provides a case-by-case account of constitution-making in Pakistan, with the inclusion of all pertinent documentation. Constitutional developments have been explained in the context of social and political events that shaped them. The book focuses on constitutional and political history, and constitutional development concurrently. It includes a liberal humanitarian reading of the travails of lawmakers and the role of generals, judges, politicians, and bureaucrats in the implementation of law. Students of law, political science, and history, as well as lawyers, judges, and professors will find this book of particular value. Being grounded in a socio-political context, this book is also of interest to the general reader. The third edition is updated to cover the constitutional and political developments up until 2013.

This book was released on 2010-12-20 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If the study of Uganda's politics and history is to be raised to a higher level of intellectual excellence, the past has indeed to be studied; so must the present; and even the Future must be studied. But and it is a strong "But," all this must be done with a greater degree of level-headedness, with more honesty, and with greater objectivity. Justice George Kanyeihamba's book is a welcome effort toward that end. His treatment comprises a mix of critical analyses of a Past spanning the years from the beginning of the Declaration of the Uganda Protectorate in 1894 to the exit of Obote and the end of his Second Regime of the 1980-1985, up to the Present. The author is an expert and specialist in constitutional matters and a native of Uganda who has lived through some of the crises and upheavals he has written about here.

Book Synopsis Politics and the Constitution in the History of the United States by : William W. Crosskey
Download or read book Politics and the Constitution in the History of the United States written by William W. Crosskey and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1953 with total page 722 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the first two volumes of William Crosskey's monumental study of the Constitution appeared in 1953, Arthur M. Schlesinger called it "perhaps the most fertile commentary on that document since The Federalist papers." It was highly controversial as well. The work was a comprehensive reassessment of the meaning of the Constitution, based on examination of eighteenth-century usages of key political and legal concepts and terms. Crosskey's basic thesis was that the Founding Fathers truly intended a government with plenary, nationwide powers, and not, as in the received views, a limited federalism. This third volume of Politics and the Constitution, which Crosskey began and William Jeffrey has finished, treats political activity in the period 1776-87, and is in many ways the heart of the work as Crosskey conceived it. In support of the lexicographic analysis of volumes 1 and 2, volume 3 shows that nationalist ideas and sentiments were a powerful force in American public opinion from the Revolution to the eve of the Constitutional Convention. The creation of a generally empowered national government in Philadelphia, it is argued, was the fruition of a long-active political movement, not the unintended or accidental result of a temporary conservative coalition. This view of the political background of the Constitutional Convention directly challenges the Madisonian-Jeffersonian orthodoxy on the subject. In support of his interpretation, Crosskey amassed a wealth of primary source materials, including heretofore unexplored pamphlets and newspapers. This exhaustive research makes this unique work invaluable for scholars of the period, both for the primary sources collected as well as for the provocative interpretation offered.

This book was released on 2015-06-25 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Constitutional History and Political Development of the United States The request addressed to mo by the publishers to write for non-professional readers a book on the Constitution of tho United States led me to inquire whether, in the multiplicity of works on this, as on almost every other conceivable subject touching large popular interests, there is any room to say something novel, or put into a now form the old matter which has been said and written over and over again by abler tongues and pens than mine. It occurred to mo that a sketch of the Constitution of the United States as it stands in text, and as it is interpreted by tho Supremo Court, accompanied by a history of the political controversies which resulted in the formation of and changes in that instrument, together with the presentation of tho actual situation of political parties and questions, which, in their turn, may produce constitutional changes, would, if given within a limited space, present such a view of the institutional condition of the United States as to justify this book to the student of political history. At no time in the history of the United States have its institutions awakened such widespread and friendly interest as at present.
