Espalhou-se pelo mundo, chegando ao Brasil em anos finais da Década de 1960 - em pleno Regime Militar, sendo o primeiro país fora da Europa a implantar a Pedagogia da Alternância, seguido quase simultaneamente pela Argentina.Tal como no contexto francês, a nova pedagogia chegou com perspectivas de novos horizontes de vida para os camponeses de Olivânia, localidade rural do município de Anchieta, no Espírito Santo. Sendo esta a primeira comunidade camponesa fora do território europeu a sediar uma escola de alternância. O segundo lugar a receber a Pedagogia da Alternância fora da Europa foi Moussy, na Província de Santa Fé, na Argentina.
