Book Synopsis Supply Chain Management by : Ralf Hieber
Download or read book Supply Chain Management written by Ralf Hieber and published by vdf Hochschulverlag AG. This book was released on 2002 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Supply chain management is emerging as one of the most powerful logistics management concepts for improving performance across the entire logistics network. Companies that have already streamlined their internal business process are now working to realise further savings by improving the external business relationships within the more and more complex, linked value-adding business processes in logistics networks. Although the benefits of SCM are well-known in industry, until now companies have only put this concept into practice in a limited way. Therefore, the newly developed integral model of collaborative performance measurement in this book will make a contribution towards easing and supporting improvements in supply chain management as well as giving specific guidelines for its implementation. Furthermore, the author provides newly developed key performance indicators that enable the measurement of the performance of co-operation across the extended enterprise in a supply chain environment. Based on case studies, the integral model, in close connection to the SCOR model, was applied and has proven its applicability in industrial practice. This book presents a rich variety of concepts and methods for industrial engineers, business managers, engineers and consultants as well as success stories in supply chain management.

Book Synopsis ERP Systems for Manufacturing Supply Chains by : Odd Jøran Sagegg
Download or read book ERP Systems for Manufacturing Supply Chains written by Odd Jøran Sagegg and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-02-24 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ERP Systems for Manufacturing Supply Chains: Applications, Configuration, and Performance provides insight into the core architecture, modules, and process support of ERP systems used in a manufacturing supply chain. This book explains the building blocks of an ERP system and how they can be used to increase performance of manufacturing supply chains. Starting with an overview of basic concepts of supply chain and ERP systems, the book delves into the core ERP modules that support manufacturing facilities and organizations. It examines each module’s structure and functionality as well as the process support the module provides. Cases illustrate how the modules can be applied in manufacturing environments. Also covered is how the ERP modules can be configured to support manufacturing supply chains. Setting up an ERP system to support the supply chain within single manufacturing facility provides insight into how an ERP system is used in the smallest of manufacturing enterprises, as well as lays the foundation for ERP systems in manufacturing organizations. The book then supplies strategies for larger manufacturing enterprises and discusses how ERP systems can be used to support a complete manufacturing supply chain across different facilities and companies. The ERP systems on the market today tend to use common terminology and naming for describing specific functions and data units in the software. However, there are differences among packages. The book discusses various data and functionalities found in different ERP-software packages and uses generic and descriptive terms as often as possible to make these valid for as many ERP systems as possible. Filled with insight into ERP system’s core modules and functions, this book shows how ERP systems can be applied to support a supply chain in the smallest of manufacturing organizations that only consist of a single manufacturing facility, as well as large enterprises where the manufacturing supply chain crosses multiple facilities and companies.

Book Synopsis Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries by : Christian Brecher
Download or read book Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries written by Christian Brecher and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-12-19 with total page 1118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Industrial production in high-wage countries like Germany is still at risk. Yet, there are many counter-examples in which producing companies dominate their competitors by not only compensating for their specific disadvantages in terms of factor costs (e.g. wages, energy, duties and taxes) but rather by minimising waste using synchronising integrativity as well as by obtaining superior adaptivity on alternating conditions. In order to respond to the issue of economic sustainability of industrial production in high-wage countries, the leading production engineering and material research scientists of RWTH Aachen University together with renowned companies have established the Cluster of Excellence “Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries”. This compendium comprises the cluster’s scientific results as well as a selection of business and technology cases, in which these results have been successfully implemented into industrial practice in close cooperation with more than 30 companies of the industrial production sector.

Book Synopsis Software Product Lines by : Gary J. Chastek
Download or read book Software Product Lines written by Gary J. Chastek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2002-07-31 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Software product lines are emerging as an important new paradigm for so- ware development. Product lines are enabling organizations to achieve impressive time-to-market gains and cost reductions. In 1997, we at the Software Engine- ing Institute (SEI) launched a Product Line Practice Initiative. Our vision was that product line development would be a low-risk, high-return proposition for the entire software engineering community. It was our hope from the beginning that there would eventually be su?cient interest to hold a conference. The First Software Product Line Conference (SPLC1) was the realization of that hope. Since SPLC1, we have seen a growing interest in software product lines. Companies are launching their own software product line initiatives, product line technical and business practices are maturing, product line tool vendors are emerging, and books on product lines are being published. Motivated by the enthusiastic response to SPLC1 and the increasing number of software product lines and product line researchers and practitioners, the SEI is proud to sponsor this second conference dedicated to software product lines. We were grati?ed by the submissions to SPLC2 from all parts of the globe, from government and commercial organizations. From these submissions we were able to assemble a rich and varied conference program with unique opportunities for software product line novices, experts, and those in between. This collection represents the papers selected from that response and includes research and experience reports.
Book Synopsis Customization 4.0 by : Stephan Hankammer
Download or read book Customization 4.0 written by Stephan Hankammer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-20 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings volume presents the latest research from the worldwide mass customization & personalization (MCP) community bringing together new thoughts and results from various disciplines within the field. The chapters are based on papers from the MCPC 2017. The book showcases research and practice from authors that see MCP as an opportunity to extend or even revolutionize current business models. The current trends of Industrie 4.0, digital manufacturing, and the rise of smart products allow for a fresh perspective on MCP: Customization 4.0. The book places a new set of values in the centre of the debate: a world with finite resources, global population growth, and exacerbating climate change needs smart thinking to engage the most effective capabilities and resources. It discusses how Customization 4.0 fosters sustainable development and creates shared value for companies, customers, consumers, and the society as a whole. The chapters of this book are contributed by a wide range of specialists, offering cutting-edge research, as well as insightful advances in industrial practice in key areas. The MCPC 2017 has a strong focus on real life MCP applications, and this proceedings volume reflects this. MCP strategies aim to profit from the fact that people are different. Their objective is to turn customer heterogeneities into opportunities, hence addressing “long tail” business models. The objective of MCP is to provide goods and services that best serve individual customers’ needs with near mass production efficiency. This proceedings volume highlights the interdisciplinary work of thought leaders, technology developers, and researchers with corporate entrepreneurs putting these strategies into practice. Chapter 24 is open access under a CC BY 4.0 license via link.springer.com.
