User's Guide written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is the user's manual for the CMITER-LRFD computer program, which is used to design and investigate horizontally framed miter gates with the skin plate in the upstream flange, using the load and resistance factor design criteria (LRFD). LRFD criteria offer more uniform reliability and a possibility of economy that is achieved in the design process. CMI'ER-LRFD is organized into three distinct functions: the Recommended Design Module (RECDES), which performs calculations that will help to establish meaningful values required to start the design; the Design Module (DES), which performs calculations to design a gate leaf; and the Investigation Module (INV), which can be used to investigate an existing gate leaf or to verify a design. This report presents results of RECDES, DES, and INV modules for an example of a structure originally designed using allowable stress design criteria.

Download or read book Computer-Aided Structural Engineering (CASE) Project. Finite Element Studies of a Horizontally Framed Miter Gate. Report 7. Application and Summary written by Joseph P. Hartman and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents an overview of a series of reports dealing with horizontally framed miter gates and their performance. The John Hollis Bankhead Lower Miter Gate on the Black Warrior River, Alabama, a typical and representative structure, was the subject of this in-depth study. Parts II, III, and IV include commentaries on the separate reports addressing conventional horizontally framed gates, elastic bulking of girders, alternate gate configurations, and different methods of controlling the torsional stiffness of a gate leaf. Appendix A is composed of the introduction and conclusions of the six separate reports. These reports are the basis for much of the information presented in Parts II, III and IV.
Book Synopsis Design of Hydraulic Steel Structures by : United States Army Corps of Engineers
Download or read book Design of Hydraulic Steel Structures written by United States Army Corps of Engineers and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manual prescribes guidance for designing hydraulic steel structures (HSS) by load and resistance factor design (LRFD) and guidance for fracture control. Allowable stress design (ASD) guidance is provided as an alternative design procedure or for those structure types where LRFD criteria have yet to be developed. Typical HSS are lock gates, tainter gates, tainter valves, bulkheads and stoplogs, vertical lift gates, components of hydroelectric and pumping plants, and miscellaneous structures such as lock wall accessories, local flood protection gates, and outlet works gates. HSS may be subject to submergence, wave action, hydraulic hammer, cavitation, impact, corrosion, and severe climatic conditions.
Book Synopsis Pipe Drafting and Design by : Roy A. Parisher
Download or read book Pipe Drafting and Design written by Roy A. Parisher and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-10-24 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pipe designers and drafters provide thousands of piping drawings used in the layout of industrial and other facilities. The layouts must comply with safety codes, government standards, client specifications, budget, and start-up date. Pipe Drafting and Design, Second Edition provides step-by-step instructions to walk pipe designers and drafters and students in Engineering Design Graphics and Engineering Technology through the creation of piping arrangement and isometric drawings using symbols for fittings, flanges, valves, and mechanical equipment. The book is appropriate primarily for pipe design in the petrochemical industry. More than 350 illustrations and photographs provide examples and visual instructions. A unique feature is the systematic arrangement of drawings that begins with the layout of the structural foundations of a facility and continues through to the development of a 3-D model. Advanced chapters discuss the customization of AutoCAD, AutoLISP and details on the use of third-party software to create 3-D models from which elevation, section and isometric drawings are extracted including bills of material. Covers drafting and design fundamentals to detailed advice on the development of piping drawings using manual and AutoCAD techniques 3-D model images provide an uncommon opportunity to visualize an entire piping facility Each chapter includes exercises and questions designed for review and practice

Book Synopsis Basics of Foundation Design by : Bengt Fellenius
Download or read book Basics of Foundation Design written by Bengt Fellenius and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-03-17 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The "Red Book" presents a background to conventional foundation analysis and design. The text is not intended to replace the much more comprehensive 'standard' textbooks, but rather to support and augment these in a few important areas, supplying methods applicable to practical cases handled daily by practising engineers and providing the basic soil mechanics background to those methods. It concentrates on the static design for stationary foundation conditions. Although the topic is far from exhaustively treated, it does intend to present most of the basic material needed for a practising engineer involved in routine geotechnical design, as well as provide the tools for an engineering student to approach and solve common geotechnical design problems.
