This book was released on 2013-06-17 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent years have seen major changes in the approach to Computer Aided Design (CAD) in the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) sector. CAD is increasingly becoming a standard design tool, facilitating lower development costs and a reduced design cycle. Not only does it allow a designer to model designs in two and three dimensions but also to model other dimensions, such as time and cost into designs. Computer Aided Design Guide for Architecture, Engineering and Construction provides an in-depth explanation of all the common CAD terms and tools used in the AEC sector. It describes each approach to CAD with detailed analysis and practical examples. Analysis is provided of the strength and weaknesses of each application for all members of the project team, followed by review questions and further tasks. Coverage includes: 2D CAD 3D CAD 4D CAD nD modelling Building Information Modelling parametric design, virtual reality and other areas of future expansion. With practical examples and step-by step guides, this book is essential reading for students of design and construction, from undergraduate level onwards.

Book Synopsis Control and Dynamic Systems V59: Computer-Aided Design/Engineering (Cad/Cae) Techniques And Their Applications Part 2 of 2 by : C.T. Leonides
Download or read book Control and Dynamic Systems V59: Computer-Aided Design/Engineering (Cad/Cae) Techniques And Their Applications Part 2 of 2 written by C.T. Leonides and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Control and Dynamic Systems, Volume 59: Computer-Aided Design/Engineering (CAD/CAE) Techniques and Their Applications Part 2 of 2 is the second of a two-volume sequence that manifests the significance and the power of CAD/CAE techniques that are available and their further development for the essential role they play in the design of modern engineering systems. The volume contains 10 chapters and begins with an in-depth treatment of the essential integration that must exist between design and manufacturing systems. This is followed by separate chapters on object-oriented programming (OOP) and graphical user interface (GUI); technologies that support the CAD/CAE design process, in particular, by means of the PC and the workstation; and the role of a geometrically associative analysis modeler in the design optimization process. Subsequent chapters deal with finite analysis modeling for the integration of CAD/CAE technology and finite element method; the mechanical analysis of two large structures: the world's largest telescope the 8m ESO-VLT and a 3-D nuclear power plant heat exchanger; and techniques for CAD for electromagnetic systems and components. The final chapters cover aircraft structural design; techniques for determining the adequacy of the number of grids (i.e., grid quality control) in computational fluid dynamics (CFD); and techniques or the optimum design of control systems using system model variables and parameters. The contributions to this volume will provide a significant and, perhaps, unique reference source for students, research workers, practicing engineers, and others on the international scene for many years.
Book Synopsis CAST Methods in Modelling by : Franz Pichler
Download or read book CAST Methods in Modelling written by Franz Pichler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microtechnologies and their corresponding CAD tools have meanwhile reached alevel of sophistication that requires the application of theoretical means on all modelling levels of design and analysis. Also, there is a growing need for a scientific approach in modelling again. Many concepts provided by Systems Theory again turn out to be of major importance. This is especially valid for the design of "machines with intelligent behaviour". When dealing with complex systems, the engineering design has to be supported by CAD tools. Consequently, the methods of Systems Theory must also get computerized. The newly established field of "Computer Aided Systems Theory" (CAST) is a first effort in this direction. The goal of CAST research and development isto provide "Systems Theory Method Banks" which can be used in education and to provide a platform for the migration of CAST methods into existing CAD tools. This book, basing on different research and development projects in CAST, is written for engineers who are interested in using and developing CAST systems, particularly in thefield of Information and Systems Engineering.
Book Synopsis CAD Systems in Mechanical and Production Engineering by : Peter Ingham
Download or read book CAD Systems in Mechanical and Production Engineering written by Peter Ingham and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-01-29 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CAD Systems in Mechanical and Production Engineering explains the many components that make up the CAD function and how these fit and interact with other elements of the computer integrated system, especially in relation to production. The book reviews the role that computers play in engineering and production design including integration of computer systems and the incorporation of artificial intelligence in the user interface. The computer unit includes the mouse, keyboard, displays, and the whole unit uses the American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) which represents typewriter characters by a pattern of bits. The book also describes the Raster-Scan displays, plasma panels, LCDs, LEDs, and 3Ds. CAD system uses calligraphic type or raster type plotters, pen plotters, character printers for hard copies or for crude pixelated copies. The book describes the organization of CAD processors and the use of networking. The text also explains the many kinds of software and the elements of computer graphics such as rotation, two-dimensional transformations, and image realism. Management issues that can arise during the transition from a manual to a computerized system include personnel adaptation rates and appointment of CAD personnel. The text also provides some CAD standards used in Manufacturing Automation Protocol or in Technical Office Protocol. The book is suitable for computer programmers, engineers, designers of industrial processes, and researchers involved in electrical, computer, or mechanical engineering.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2 e This book describes principles, methods and tools that are common to computer applications for design tasks. CAD is considered in this book as a discipline that provides the required know-how in computer hardware and software, in systems analysis and in engineering methodology for specifying, designing, implementing, introducing, and using computer based systems for design purposes. The first chapter gives an impression of the book as a whole, and following chapters deal with the history and the components of CAD, the process aspect of CAD, CAD architecture, graphical devices and systems, CAD engineering methods, CAD data transfer, and application examples. The flood of new developments in the field and the success of the first edition of this book have led the authors to prepare this completely revised, updated and extended second edition. Extensive new material is included on computer graphics, implementation methodology and CAD data transfer; the material on graphics standards is updated. The book is aimed primarily at engineers who design or install CAD systems. It is also intended for students who seek a broad fundamental background in CAD.

Download or read book Computer Aided Design written by J. Encarnacao and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 4 lation and optimization. These are essential constituents of the iterative process, leading to a feasible and, one hopes, optimal design. 1.3 Content of the Book In Chapter 2 we present briefly the history of CAD. The main components of CAD systems are identified, and their principal functions described. Economi cal and interdisciplinary aspects are discussed. Chapter 3 starts with a systems analysis of the design process. The notion of a process is introduced as a fundamental tool to describe activities like design as a whole, computer-aided design, program executions, terminal sessions etc. The environment and the resources which the environment must supply for the successful execution of any process are discussed. The problem of modelling the design objects in an abstract schema and the interrelation between the schema and the planning of the individual step in the design are analysed. Chapter 4 concentrates on the interfaces among the components of a CAD system, including the human operator. The problem of mapping an abstract schema onto the capabilities of various programming, command, or data de scription languages is described in detail. Emphasis is laid upon the resource aspect and its influence on the design of CAD systems. The concept of a CAD software machine is introduced, and rules for designing such machines are given.
