In order to help these athletes, this study explores the relationship of athlete's competitive state anxiety (CSA) and coping skills in order to develop a mental toughness training program (MTTP). A descriptive-correlational method was used in order to derive basketball and table tennis athletes of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Five universities participated in this study resulting to a pool of 192 athlete-respondents. In order to measure the CSA and coping skills of the athletes, the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2, Martens, Vealey, & Burton, 1990) and the Athletic Coping Skills Inventory (ACSI, Smith, Schults, Smoll, & Ptacek, 1995) was used. Subjecting to statistical analysis, results yield various analyses.
