Download or read book Stirling Engine Design Manual written by William Martini and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-01-25 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For Stirling engines to enjoy widespread application and acceptance, not only must the fundamental operation of such engines be widely understood, but the requisite analytic tools for the stimulation, design, evaluation and optimization of Stirling engine hardware must be readily available. The purpose of this design manual is to provide an introduction to Stirling cycle heat engines, to organize and identify the available Stirling engine literature, and to identify, organize, evaluate and, in so far as possible, compare non-proprietary Stirling engine design methodologies. This report was originally prepared for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the U. S. Department of Energy.

Download or read book Constant Volume Sampler System for Exhaust Emissions Measurement written by SAE IC Powertrain Steering Committee and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SAE Information Report describes uniform laboratory techniques for employing the constant volume sampler (CVS) system in measuring various constituents in the exhaust gas of gasoline engines installed on passenger cars and light trucks. The techniques described relate particularly to CVS systems employing positive displacement pumps. This is essentially an almost obsolete system relative to usage in industry and government. Current practice favors the use of a critical flow venturi to measure the diluted exhaust flow. In some areas of CVS practice, alternative procedures are given as a guide toward development of uniform laboratory techniques. The report includes the following sections: Introduction 1. Scope 2. References 2.1 Applicable Publications 3. Definitions 4. Test Equipment 4.1 Sampler 4.2 Bag Analysis 4.3 Modal Analysis 4.4 Instrument Operating Procedures 4.5 Supplementary Discussions 4.6 Tailpipe Connections 4.7 Chassis Dynamometer 5. Operating and Calibrating Procedure 5.1 Calibration 5.2 Operating Procedures 6. Data Analysis 6.1 Bag Analysis 6.2 Modal Analysis 6.3 Background 6.4 Fuel Economy 7. Safety 8. Notes The technical report covers technology, products, or processes which are mature and not likely to change in the foreseeable future.

Book Synopsis Automotive Emissions Regulations and Exhaust Aftertreatment Systems by : John Kasab
Download or read book Automotive Emissions Regulations and Exhaust Aftertreatment Systems written by John Kasab and published by SAE International. This book was released on 2020-08-31 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this book is to present a fundamental development of the science and engineering underlying the design of exhaust aftertreatment systems for automotive internal combustion engines. No pre-requisite knowledge of the field is required: our objective is to acquaint the reader, whom we expect to be new to the field of emissions control, with the underlying principles, control methods, common problems, and fuel effects on catalytic exhaust aftertreatment devices. We do this in hope that they can better understand the previous and current generations of emissions control, and improve upon them. This book is designed for the engineer, researcher, designer, student, or any combination of those, who is concerned with the control of automotive exhaust emissions. It includes discussion of theory and fundamentals applicable to hardware development.
Book Synopsis Engine Emissions by : George Springer
Download or read book Engine Emissions written by George Springer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, emissions from transportation engines have been studied widely because of the contribution of such engines to atmospheric pollution. During this period the amounts of pollutants emitted, the mechanism of their formation, and means of controlling emissions have been investigated in industrial and government laboratories, as well as at universities. The results of these investigations have generally been published as individual articles in journals, transactions, meeting proceedings, and, frequently, in company reports. This proliferation of technical information makes it difficult for workers in the field to keep abreast of all developments. For this reason, the editors felt the need for a book which would survey the existing state of knowledge in wide, albeit selected areas, and would provide a guide to the relevant literature. This book is intended to fulfill this function. It is recognized that all aspects of transportation engine emissions cannot be explored in a single volume. In this book attention is focused primarily on sources and mechanisms of emission formation within the combustion process, and on measurement techniques. Beyond this objective, no re strictions were placed on the authors. Within the framework of the general theme each author has been free to treat his subject as he saw fit. The editors have not strived to replace by uniformity the highly personal and attractive divergences of style. Considerable efforts were made, however, to ensure clarity and minimum overlap between the chapters.
