This book was released on 2005-05-27 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An expert guide to the new and emerging field of broadband circuits for optical fiber communication This exciting publication makes it easy for readers to enter into and deepen their knowledge of the new and emerging field of broadband circuits for optical fiber communication. The author's selection and organization of material have been developed, tested, and refined from his many industry courses and seminars. Five types of broadband circuits are discussed in detail: * Transimpedance amplifiers * Limiting amplifiers * Automatic gain control (AGC) amplifiers * Lasers drivers * Modulator drivers Essential background on optical fiber, photodetectors, lasers, modulators, and receiver theory is presented to help readers understand the system environment in which these broadband circuits operate. For each circuit type, the main specifications and their impact on system performance are explained and illustrated with numerical values. Next, the circuit concepts are discussed and illustrated with practical implementations. A broad range of circuits in MESFET, HFET, BJT, HBT, BiCMOS, and CMOS technologies is covered. Emphasis is on circuits for digital, continuous-mode transmission in the 2.5 to 40 Gb/s range, typically used in SONET, SDH, and Gigabit Ethernet applications. Burst-mode circuits for passive optical networks (PON) and analog circuits for hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) cable-TV applications also are discussed. Learning aids are provided throughout the text to help readers grasp and apply difficult concepts and techniques, including: * Chapter summaries that highlight the key points * Problem-and-answer sections to help readers apply their new knowledge * Research directions that point to exciting new technological breakthroughs on the horizon * Product examples that show the performance of actual broadband circuits * Appendices that cover eye diagrams, differential circuits, S parameters, transistors, and technologies * A bibliography that leads readers to more complete and in-depth treatment of specialized topics This is a superior learning tool for upper-level undergraduates and graduate-level students in circuit design and optical fiber communication. Unlike other texts that concentrate on analog circuits in general or mostly on optics, this text provides balanced coverage of electronic, optic, and system issues. Professionals in the fiber optic industry will find it an excellent reference, incorporating the latest technology and discoveries in the industry.

Book Synopsis Design of High-speed Communication Circuits by : Ramesh Harjani
Download or read book Design of High-speed Communication Circuits written by Ramesh Harjani and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MOS technology has rapidly become the de facto standard for mixed-signal integrated circuit design due to the high levels of integration possible as device geometries shrink to nanometer scales. The reduction in feature size means that the number of transistor and clock speeds have increased significantly. In fact, current day microprocessors contain hundreds of millions of transistors operating at multiple gigahertz. Furthermore, this reduction in feature size also has a significant impact on mixed-signal circuits. Due to the higher levels of integration, the majority of ASICs possesses some analog components. It has now become nearly mandatory to integrate both analog and digital circuits on the same substrate due to cost and power constraints. This book presents some of the newer problems and opportunities offered by the small device geometries and the high levels of integration that is now possible. The aim of this book is to summarize some of the most critical aspects of high-speed analog/RF communications circuits. Attention is focused on the impact of scaling, substrate noise, data converters, RF and wireless communication circuits and wireline communication circuits, including high-speed I/O. Contents: Achieving Analog Accuracy in Nanometer CMOS (M P Flynn et al.); Self-Induced Noise in Integrated Circuits (R Gharpurey & S Naraghi); High-Speed Oversampling Analog-to-Digital Converters (A Gharbiya et al.); Designing LC VCOs Using Capacitive Degeneration Techniques (B Jung & R Harjani); Fully Integrated Frequency Synthesizers: A Tutorial (S T Moon et al.); Recent Advances and Design Trends in CMOS Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits (D J Allstot et al.); Equalizers for High-Speed Serial Links (P K Hanumolu et al.); Low-Power, Parallel Interface with Continuous-Time Adaptive Passive Equalizer and Crosstalk Cancellation (C P Yue et al.). Book Synopsis Low-Power Wireless Communication Circuits and Systems by : Kiat Seng Yeo
Download or read book Low-Power Wireless Communication Circuits and Systems written by Kiat Seng Yeo and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-05-03 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The increasing demand for extremely high-data-rate communications has urged researchers to develop new communication systems. Currently, wireless transmission with more than one Giga-bits-per-second (Gbps) data rates is becoming essential due to increased connectivity between different portable and smart devices. To realize Gbps data rates, millimeter-wave (MMW) bands around 60 GHz is attractive due to the availability of large bandwidth of 9 GHz. Recent research work in the Gbps data rates around 60 GHz band has focused on short-range indoor applications, such as uncompressed video transfer, high-speed file transfer between electronic devices, and communication to and from kiosk. Many of these applications are limited to 10 m or less, because of the huge free space path loss and oxygen absorption for 60 GHz band MMW signal. This book introduces new knowledge and novel circuit techniques to design low-power MMW circuits and systems. It also focuses on unlocking the potential applications of the 60 GHz band for high-speed outdoor applications. The innovative design application significantly improves and enables high-data-rate low-cost communication links between two access points seamlessly. The 60 GHz transceiver system-on-chip provides an alternative solution to upgrade existing networks without introducing any building renovation or external network laying works.
