Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the use of farm level, micro- and macro-data of cooperative systems and networks in developing new robust, reliable and coherent modeling tools for agricultural and environmental policy analysis. The efficacy of public intervention on agriculture is largely determined by the existence of reliable information on the effects of policy options and market developments on farmers' production decisions and in particular, on key issues such as levels of agricultural and non-agricultural output, land use and incomes, use of natural resources, sustainable-centric management, structural change and the viability of family farms. Over the last years, several methods and analytical tools have been developed for policy analysis using various sets of data. Such methods have been based on integrated approaches in an effort to investigate the above key issues and have thus attempted to offer a powerful environment for decision making, particularly in an era of radical change for both agriculture and the wider economy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present scientific and technical revolution has brought science into the range of the most effective forces of production. The formula "science= production force" applies also to the social sciences whose explorations of human relationships and drives have reached previously unsuspected depths. Objectives, such as higher living standards and full employment, economic growth and stability, social equity and security, have both called for and provided a basis for the exploitation of possibilities offered by the natural and technical sciences. In today's agriculture, age-old traditions are in the process of disintegra tion, but the heredity of a century (or that of even a millennium as in Hungary) does not get dissolved without defending itself. Technical progress and social restratification, the emergence of new scales of values and preferences, the adjustment of the rural communities to their new tasks and conditions - all these have transformed farm operations and farming techniques. But agriculture, even under its revolutionized surface, still hides deep, almost untouched layers. If economists and agriculturalists are perplexed by the multitude and variety of the visible farm problems, there exist many others about which they can only guess, which they must follow up. In formulating and solving these problems, agricultural economists have professional tasks: (1) facilitating the most efficient use of agricultural resources from the standpoint of the national economy, and (2) helping farmers and farm people to attain their stated, socially feasible objectives.

Book Synopsis Co-Operation Among Farmers by : John Lee Coulter
Download or read book Co-Operation Among Farmers written by John Lee Coulter and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-09-27 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This special re-print edition of John Lee Coulter's book "Co-operation Among Farmers: The Keystone of Rural Prosperity" is a guide to the establishment of organized co-operatives among farmers and ranchers. An agricultural cooperative, also known as a farmers' co-op, is a scenario where farmers pool their resources in certain areas of activity. Agricultural cooperatives are usually distinguished between 'agricultural service cooperatives', which provide various services to their individually farming members, and 'agricultural production cooperatives', where production resources (land, machinery) are pooled and members farm jointly. Written in 1911, this classic text provides insight into the subject of farmer's co-operatives and makes a strong argument for their establishment. Chapters include The Argument For Co-operation, Co-operation Among Dairy Farmers, Marketing of Butter and Cheese, Production and Marketing of Animals For Meat, Storing and Marketing Grain, Marketing Vegetables, Some Successful Societies For Marketing Vegetables, Marketing Poultry and Eggs, Citrus Fruits, Co-operative Stores and much more on the subject. A truly unique and highly informative book on the subject that helped to spawn the establishment of many such co-operatives during the early part of the 20th Century and that will be of immense interest to modern small farmers. Note: This edition is a perfect facsimile of the original edition and is not set in a modern typeface.
