Sometimes the very thing you wish for, is your undoing... Brenik has always been envious of his twin sister, Bray. Everything always came naturally to Bray, even after crossing through a portal from their fae world, while Brenik spent his time in her shadow. So, when Brenik discovers a way to get what he has always desired-to become human-he takes it. However, the gift turns out to be a curse that alters him in ways he never saw coming. Bray can't help but be concerned for her brother, more so when he vanishes. While waiting for Brenik to return, she meets two brothers who realize she isn't human. Her dark bat-like wings are proof of that. But somehow, an aching bond forms between Bray and the hot older brother, Wes. When Bray reunites with Brenik, she finds he has an overpowering need for blood stirring within him. If Bray doesn't help Brenik put an end to his curse, it will not only damage those who get close to him, but it could also destroy the steamy romance blooming between her and Wes. Centuries later, when Olympus has fallen and the gods live amongst humankind, Acontius discovers a young woman who mirrors his loneliness and longing. Throwing caution to the wind, he tosses an apple at her feet, engraved with words that bind them to one another. Delia's life is in shambles. She's just lost her job, suffered through a recent breakup and her health is declining. What she needs more than ever is a getaway trip to another country. But when she meets a playful museum worker, Delia decides to let her walls down for once, which unwittingly sparks a goddess's ire. With Delia's life hanging in the balance, Acontius must ensure she falls in love with him––or else she'll die and he'll become another one of Artemis' hunting dogs for eternity.

Book excerpt: “Wealth without work Pleasure without conscience Science without humanity Knowledge without character Politics without principle Commerce without morality Worship without sacrifice. https://vidjambov.blogspot.com/2023/01/book-inventory-vladimir-djambov-talmach.html Jesus cried out with a loud voice so that we could enlighten that when He said: “I have the power to lay My soul,” this was true, for He gives the soul with power. What was this appeal? “Father, in thy hands I betray my spirit,” for not by compulsion, but he voluntarily gave up the spirit. This shows: “I betray”; also shows that He is thinking again to receive His soul, for every pledge is again given back. Thanks be to the Lord that when He died and when His spirit was handed over to the Father, from that time the souls of the saints are put into the hands of God, and not in the dungeons of hell, as before, so that the death of Christ became our sanctification. For this, death is invoked with a loud voice, not daring and come up if it had not been called. The church curtain consisted of a kind of canvas hung in the middle of the temple and separating the inside from the outside, like a wall. That it is torn apart - through this God shows that the temple, inaccessible and unseen, the inside of which was covered with a veil, will be in such humiliation and contempt that it will be accessible to everyone and anyone can consider it. Others indicate other causes of strife. A torn curtain meant, they say, the abolition of the letter of law, and also that all that was lawful was revealed, which had previously been covered with a letter, like a kind of curtain - and everything that was previously obscure and mysterious would become clear now, having been fulfilled on Christ. One can also say that, as was the custom of the Jews in the case of blasphemy, to tear their clothes, so now the temple of God, as if grieving for the death of God, tore his clothes, the veil. And someone else could say, but that is enough. The elements then hesitated, as if testifying that the Sufferer is the Creator, so showing at the same time that that there will be a change in deeds, for the Scripture considers an earthquake as a sign of a change in deeds. So the transfer of God's view from the Jews to the Gentiles took place. And the stones, that is, the stone hearts of the Gentiles, were dissolved and accepted the seed of truth, and those who had been killed by sins rose up and entered the holy city, into Jerusalem above, and appeared to be many who walk on a broad path; appearing to them, they became for them the prototype of a good life and conversion: for, seeing a man, first mortified by passions, and then turned and entered the holy heavenly city, another imitates him and turns around in every way. However, it was invented too exquisitely. You know that the resurrection of the dead, which happened at the cross of the Lord, made it clear that the souls that were in hell were released. The Risen then appeared to many, so that what happened would not seem like a dream; But they have risen for the sake of a sign; and it is clear that they died again. However, some say that they were resurrected after the resurrection of Christ and another time did not die. I do not know if this should be accepted.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although best known the world over for his masterpiece novel, Don Quixote de la Mancha, published in two parts in 1605 and 1615, the antics of the would-be knight-errant and his simple squire only represent a fraction of the trials and tribulations, both in the literary world and in society at large, of this complex man. Poet, playwright, soldier, slave, satirist, novelist, political commentator, and literary outsider, Cervantes achieved a minor miracle by becoming one of the rarest of things in the Early-Modern world of letters: an international best-seller during his lifetime, with his great novel being translated into multiple languages before his death in 1616. The principal objective of The Oxford Handbook of Cervantes is to create a resource in English that provides a fully comprehensive overview of the life, works, and influences of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547-1616). This volume contains seven sections, exploring in depth Cervantes's life and how the trials, tribulations, and hardships endured influenced his writing. Cervantistas from numerous countries, including the United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland, the United States, Canada, and France offer their expertise with the most up-to-date research and interpretations to complete this wide-ranging, but detailed, compendium of a writer not known for much other than his famous novel outside of the Spanish-speaking world. Here we explore his famous novelDon Quixote de la Mancha, his other prose works, his theatrical output, his poetry, his sources, influences, and contemporaries, and finally reception of his works over the last four hundred years.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In churches today, there are ever fewer older pastors speaking into the lives of younger leaders, and fewer younger leaders feeling there is much to be learned from the experience of their elders. Street-smart wisdom is gone from training as there are many men and women preparing pastors who have never themselves pastored a church. Intriguingly, even older, more seasoned pastors yearn for insight into their task, as they remain "undiscipled" in the school of leadership. In What They Didn't Teach You in Seminary, veteran pastor James Emery White provides the kind of mentoring young pastors desperately need but cannot get from academia or leadership books. These "from the trenches" insights will help them transform their relationships with staff and parishoners, develop healthy boundaries, deliver hard truths, avoid spiritual pitfalls, use their time effectively, and much more.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We're uncomfortable talking about it. We may try to ignore it or focus our attention on euphemisms: challenges, weaknesses to overcome, struggles, etc. We convince ourselves that the evil in the world is caused by sick people who are nothing like us. "Sin is real," write the authors of this best-selling workbook. "It’s a part of each of us—even those in the church…All social ills are an extension of that which seethes and rages and contorts in the hearts of individuals." The Workbook on the Seven Deadly Sins illustrates how sloth, lust, anger, pride, envy, gluttony, and greed are ever-present in individual lives and society. This 8-week study for individuals or groups is soundly rooted in scripture and helpful without being judgmental. Become more aware of the expressions of sin in your own life. Discover how Christ brings new life and can deliver you from the impulses that get between you and God.
