Book Synopsis T&T Clark Handbook of Pneumatology by : Daniel Castelo
Download or read book T&T Clark Handbook of Pneumatology written by Daniel Castelo and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-09-17 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook provides an interdisciplinary and diverse reference work to the Holy Spirit. Daniel Castelo and Kenneth M. Loyer gathered together a wide range of voices that are religiously, geographically, and ethnically diverse, bringing theology into conversation with biblical studies, ethics and morality, and global Christian studies. The T&T Clark Handbook of Pneumatology examines the Holy Spirit in a variety of sources, such as the Synoptic Gospels, the Catholic Epistles, the Old Testament, and the Hebrew Scriptures. It also includes chapters on key concepts in the field, such as mediation and sacramentality, ecology, and creation. This broad scope enables readers to appreciate how nuanced the field of Pneumatology is, and how it can be relevant for other Christian discourses.
Book Synopsis Pentecostalism and Cultism in South Africa by : Mookgo Solomon Kgatle
Download or read book Pentecostalism and Cultism in South Africa written by Mookgo Solomon Kgatle and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-02-28 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pentecostalism is a growing movement in world Christianity. However, the growth of Pentecostalism in South Africa has faced some challenges, including the abuse of religion by some prophets. This book first names these prophets and the churches they lead in South Africa, and then makes use of literary and media analysis to analyse the religious practices by the prophets in relation to cultism. Additionally, the book analyses the “celebrity cult” and how it helps promote the prophets in South Africa. The purpose of this book is threefold: First, to draw parallels between the abuse of religion and cultism. Second, to illustrate that it is cultic tendencies, including the celebrity cult, that has given rise to many prophets in South Africa. Last, to showcase that the challenge for many of these prophets is that the Pentecostal tradition is actually anti-cultism, and thus there is a need for them to rethink their cultic tendencies in order for them to be truly relevant in a South African context.

Book Synopsis Preaching and Preachers by : D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
Download or read book Preaching and Preachers written by D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2012-01-24 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Some may object to my dogmatic assertions; but I do not apologize for them. Every preacher should believe strongly in his own method; and if I cannot persuade all of the rightness of mine, I can at least stimulate them to think and to consider other possibilities. I can say quite honestly that I would not cross the road to listen to myself preaching, and the preachers whom I have enjoyed most have been very different indeed in their method and style. But my business is not to describe them but to state what I believe to be right, however imperfectly I have put my own precepts into practice. I can only hope that the result will be of some help, and especially to young preachers called to this greatest of all tasks, and especially in these sad and evil times. With many others I pray that 'The Lord of the harvest may thrust forth' many mighty preachers to proclaim 'the unsearchable riches of Christ!'"

At the same time the reader can discover Bible-based guidance for young couples and Biblical hope and restoration for threatened homes.
