Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kathleen Turner is one of the most admired actresses of her generation, but she's led a very private life. Here is the bestselling candid and humorous account of her personal and professional life--including the truth about her recently-ended marriage, her inspiring recovery from rheumatoid arthritis, and her award-winning return to the stage. From her film debut as the sultry schemer in Body Heat to her award-winning role as Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, actress Kathleen Turner's unique blend of beauty, intelligence, and raw sexuality has driven her personal and professional life. Now, in this gutsy memoir, the screen icon tells us of the risks she's taken and the lessons she's learned-sometimes the hard way. For the first time, Turner shares her childhood challenges-a life lived in countries around the world until her father, a State Department official whom she so admired, died suddenly when she was a teenager. She talks about her twenty year marriage, and why she and her husband recently separated, her close relationship with her daughter, her commitment to service, and how activism in controversial causes has bolstered her beliefs. And Turner reveals the pain and heartbreak of her struggle with rheumatoid arthritis, and how, in spite of it, she made a daring decision: to take a break from the movies and relaunch her stage career. Along the way, Turner describes what it's like to work with legends like Jack Nicholson, Michael Douglas, William Hurt, Steve Martin, Francis Ford Coppola, John Huston, John Waters, Edward Albee . . . and, with characteristic irreverent humor, shares her behind-the-screen stories of dealing with all types of creative, intimidating, and inspiring characters. Kathleen Turner has always known that she would play the lead in the story of her life. It's impossible not to take her lessons on living, love, and leading roles to heart. And it won't be long until you'll be sending yourself roses!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Somewhere in one of the countries on the west coast of Africa, a ruthless civil war had broken out. A family of four, a husband and a newly pregnant wife plus two children, unluckily got caught up in the quagmire of this cruel war. In an unexpected turn of events, the warlords and their henchmen ordered the rebels to kill some targeted aliens within their captured territories. The family formed part of those ill-fated aliens. To survive the war, they needed to use all their wits and bravery to outmaneuver the bloodthirsty rebels. For over three years, the family took refuge in dense forests infested with all kinds of wild animals and bloodsucking insects. There was no hospital, no food for the pregnant woman and the family. She had to be delivered in bizarre and difficult circumstances. This author experienced the bitter conflict and saw the beginning and the end of the protracted war. He recounts a true life story of the acts of brutalities, hate, genocides, deceits, and gross human rights abuses that usually characterize wars. Follow the saga of human suffering, adventures, and utter dehumanization that human conflicts can cause, also the sex slavery of adolescent girls, culture of indiscipline and impunity, and the sheer uselessness of modern African wars.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The Journey To An Undefeated Mind” is a book inspired by myself, the author's personal battle against mental health. It is about all the lessons and blessings I learnt along my journey. I wanted to share this with other's so that they can get through their own journey. My book "The Journey To An Undefeated Mind" is all about the reader, it is a direct conversation or speech from the author to the reader. Guiding them through this journey, advising them, encouraging them, speaking life into them when they feel low. Something I didn’t have around me, as often as I would have liked it when I was going through my journey, my battles against mental health. I believe my book, could be a big help to many people facing mental health, whether you are facing it alone or not. It's like having a pocket size friend travel along with you. Ok maybe slightly bigger than pocket size. But you get what I mean. How often have you had to face something, and you wished you had that extra bit of help guiding you through. Enough support to help you on the right path. But not too much, so you can learn to do it yourself. This is what my book is there for. That extra bit of support. That motivator, friend that shows you your worth. Shows you that you can, and always could do it. You just had to start believing in yourself. This is what “The Journey To An Undefeated Mind” is there for. To get you to start believing in yourself again. To get you to understand, that in life, you are bound to fall, bound to fail a couple times. But you will only be defeated, if you choose to stay down, if you choose to stay defeated. Having an “Undefeated Mind” means yes in life, we may fail, we may take some L’s, but we won’t be defeated in life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A book that’s long past due gives the middle finger to the clusterf*cked culture that has forged and f*cked up an entire generation, warping it away from achieving true happiness and balanced mental health. Daniella Ventresca, Social Worker, Holistic Nutritionist, and Personal Trainer, shows us that the things we’ve fervently put all our faith into—technology, social media, viral influencers, search-engine psychology, entitlement ethic, turn-over trends, etc.—have inadvertently destroyed our ability to sift fact from fiction, fulfillment from fantasy, and mental fitness from totally f*cked up. Obsessively curated social media lives have become a generational lifestyle of curated soul-searching. Drawing from a bevy of psychological and sociological research, Ventresca sheds a disturbing light on how this generation’s culture of comparison pushes us to lock up the truest parts of ourselves that don’t “measure up,” which we come to despise, and so use any means necessary—addiction, binge eating, obsessive behaviours, self-harm, etc.—to control, to suffocate, or to just avoid facing our truths. With a refreshing combination of brutal honesty and I’m-right-there-with-you-babe sisterhood support, Ventresca takes you by the hand on an aha-moment filled journey of relatable stories, cut-through-the-crap truths, and guidance that is too raw to be clickbait-worthy—but is the most authentic way to finally embrace your fears, your faults, and your f*ck-ups. Generation Clusterf*cked is a much-needed slap in the face—and a loving, empowering hug—for a generation that is desperately seeking to find self-forgiveness, self-love, fulfillment, and holistic well-being. Ultimately, this is the only way we can save us from ourselves.

Book excerpt: The creator of the Unmistakable Creative podcast makes a counterintuitive argument: By focusing your creative work on pleasing yourself, you can increase your productivity, happiness, and (eventually, paradoxically) the size of your audience. Creating for your own pleasure--whether you're writing a novel, composing songs, or painting a landscape--can seem pointless. It's tempting to focus on pursuing money and fame, rather than the process itself. But as Srini Rao warns, creating then turns into a chore that can harm your self-esteem and suck the pleasure out of life, rather than being a source of joy. Rao, host of the podcast The Unmistakable Creative, argues that we should counter this thinking by intentionally creating art for ourselves alone--an audience of one. In this book he shares the fascinating true stories of creatives who took this path, along with actionable tips and the research of creativity experts. You'll learn, for example: How Oprah's intentional focus on her own work rather than the opinions of everyone else catapulted her into one of the most popular talk shows of all time. How being process-driven can not only help you produce more work, but can make you happier outside of your creative time. How to put together a creative "team of rivals" whose feedback can help you hone your craft and filter out useless feedback. By playing to an audience of one, we can find more happiness, increased productivity, and a greater sense of community.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the closing of this book, I am so happy that I got the courage to write it and the people that I am going to bless with it! Knowledge is power but Knowledge means nothing if we don't put it in action, and when God blesses us with it, we have to share it with others. I am thankful for the persons who encouraged me to do it. We must ask questions. Too much misunderstanding caused family, coworker, and friends to fall apart. Let's connect and talk! Too much fighting in the church. Let's get together and unite. We need more love in the church. Talk is cheap; too much talk and no action. Let's fight against drugs. Too many of our loved ones and friends' lives have been destroyed by drugs. We need more order not only in the church but also in the home and school. We are supposed to build each other up, not tear each other apart! Life is a journey that comes with a lot of obstacles, but if we put our trust in God, we will make it. No one should have control over how one should be dressed. That is just my opinion. Gossip is very dangerous; most of the time it is not true, and we must stop it. Evil thoughts--so a man thinks we must cancel and delete these thoughts before they become action. We must pray against bondage; too many people are in bondage and not even know it. We must not be comfortable but always be hungry for more. There is always room for improvement. Let us support each other in any form of way. We can and stop making excuses and when using words, make sure you know the meaning before saying it; and always remember, words have power. Last but not the least, can we mind our own business for a change? Love and thanks to everyone who is going to enjoy reading my book. This is coming from my heart, love, and blessings. I am really happy that I am able to use my book to shed some light on life experiences. Everything I write in this book I did experience it in some form or way. Life is full of experiences, and I am happy I experienced them. Looking forward for my next book and the download from the Holy Spirit, and I can hear my dead grandmothers and my mom cheering me on. Go, girl, you got the this. I will continue to honor my ancestors.

Each songlike story feels like a breakout hit encapsulating the brokenness and the beauty in life’s soundtrack."—Booklist, starred review “Beautifully woven . . . a magical delight.”—Hari Kunzru, author of White Tears A Broken People’s Playlist is set to the soundtrack of life, comprised of twelve music-inspired tales about love, the human condition, micro-moments, and the search for meaning and sometimes, redemption. It is also Chimeka Garricks’s love letter to his native city, Port Harcourt, introducing us to a cast of indelible characters in these loosely interlocked tales. There is the teenage wannabe-DJ eager to play his first gig even as his family disastrously falls apart—who reappears many years later as an unhappy middle-aged man drunk-calling his ex-wife; a man who throws a living funeral for his dying brother; three friends who ponder penis captivus and one’s peculiar erectile dysfunction; a troubled woman who tries to find her peace-place in the world, helped by a headful of songs and a pot of ginger tea. Infused with the author’s resonant and evocative storytelling, each page holds “the depth of a novel” (Hari Kunzru); a character, a moment that will—like a favorite song—long linger in the heart and mind.

He bathed her with love, bathed her, bathed her and finally drowned her completely into his love. Saratu loves him with the truest love of her heart. As matter-of-factly, they were head over heels in love. They admired each other, they adored each other, they allured each other, they liked each other, they want each other, they need each other, they beseechingly desired each other and they loved each other like politicians with corruptions. They declared their love for each other and not so long they stood in front of an overfilled church congregation to publicly declare their love for each other in a one-in-town society marriage. They swam in their love and lived very, very comfortable and happily in love. Saratu wasn't in need of anything, even sex. Bindul gave her all the practical part of love, the love that was made in heaven for a woman, that kind of love that made her feel as though she was the only EVE with the only ADAM in this modern world and she was wholly dependable on it. Like King Solomon to his wives and concubines, Bindul lavished Saratu with the sweetest lovely words and praises. He gave her all that she needed in life. But when Saratu later discovered that her husband was still madly in love with Jimikat, his primeval girlfriend, things wasn't the same again for her. Their loveliest sex-packed marriage suffered a temporary drought of sex. Saratu first run to her dear friend, Dakmikat for help. Despite doing everything, her husband clung onto Jimikat like a tick to a cow. But at the end, when Bindul brought the two of them together, the problem was solved and Saratu and Jimikat became very, very good friends and lived very happily under the spell of Bindul.
